The latest app update now lets you add clubs as a group, which saves some time.  My clubs, Wishon single-length EQ1-NX, were not in the list. I sent a request to Rapsodo support at about 10:00 Monday night, and got an email back the next morning saying the clubs had been added to the database. Nicely done!

On my wish list for the app (which I have sent as a feature request) is to remove the limit on clubs in the bag.  I'm a hobbyist club builder and I like to compare clubs.  I'm spoiled by a few fitting sessions on TrackMan where you get to compare the performance of different clubs in one session.

I agree with you there.  I've set up two "clubs" that I don't have in the bag, like a 2W for example, so that I can at least compare against another club.  But it would be nice if there was some sort of A/B compare function more built in.  But I also get that could quickly make for a lot of scrolling too.  Not sure what the most elegant solution would be.

Looks like I'll need to buy some more RPT balls. Not sure about you lot, but the ball dots are just not worth the hassle of application to me. Takes a good five minutes to put a set on then after 5 minutes of beating balls they tear off.

Has anyone had better luck than I? I really wanted to love these things...

I found a template on ebay that you can use with a paint marker. I was thinking of getting one and testing it out.

Please update the thread when you test that out? I can't suffer another gimmicky failure this soon...

Will do. I'm also going to make my own template with my 3D printer and see how that works as well. After testing, if all goes well, hit me up and i'll send you a template so you can give your input as well.

I got a template from ebay and I marked a bunch of balls with it, it worked just fine, the readings were very close to the RTP balls on the net.

It takes a little elbow grease to mark up the balls, but it is worth, not having to spend 70 bucks per dozen and actually using the balls I play with all of the time.

Also it allowed me to take the unit to the course and use with my game balls.

I'd like to see that someday it will be able to recognize the club you are hitting.  If it could communicate with the fobs at the end of your club, if you have something like a ShotScope X5 watch, then you wouldn't have to actually change the club on the phone or tablet each time.  That way your session is non-stop & you will have a series of different color balls down range.  If that makes any sense.

I'll be putting this thru it's first paces later today.  I just got it in the mail yesterday & charged it all night long 👍

The way to to it is to show the sole of the club to the camera, so it detects what club you are hitting, honestly as I kept my phone right in front of me I would just change the club manually.

A little disappointing that there is a subscription fee after a year.  And they get you because you're only allowed 3 stats otherwise.  And you have to change them constantly 🤨

It's ok to get a bit wet, but don't take a bath with it 🙂   If it gets dark the radar could have trouble picking up some shots but for the most part it should be fine.

Well, say you pay the $200 a year for 4 years after the first year.  You will have had it for 5 years for about the price of the Current Mevo+   By then with the way technology is, there will have been several products that come out that most who are interested in these will have moved onto or upgraded.  Where as the MEVO+ you would have paid that $1700 upfront and maybe moved on to something after 2 or 3 years.  So in that regard you are better off even paying the annual fee.   Just my thoughts.

There are setting on the IPAD where you can get up to 4 stats I believe?  I isually don't review it until afterwards,

Question for any of the testers that have done the Combine.

What is considered a good score, and what is considered a score that I should send the unit back to Rapsodo, and start playing croquet 🙂

Good question, but I do not think a bad score is a fault of the unit.

With my game, I mostly scored on the 40s, the first couple of times the mid 30s, so to me above 50 would have been a good score.

Now that might have been because I chose different targets and clubs than what I was comfortable with, the only constant was the driver, but I wanted to make sure that when I was hitting those practice shots, I was looking for the type of shots I struggled to hit consistently on the course, the ones that would scare me a bit.

I would pick something in between clubs like PW to 105 yards, where that wedge should be more like 110, or a 7 iron to 135 where a normal conditions 7i would have been 140 yards.

Rapsodo keeps an online monthly combine competition and all top scores were over 80.

Awesome!!  Thanks very much.  And I should have been more clear in my sarcastic comment.  I was in no way blaming the unit, I was saying I was that bad I should give up 🙂

I thought my score of 38.9 was horribly low.  I had no idea what to expect.  This was my first combine with it.  I know I definitely overshot my driver distance by about 10 yards, the 7 iron was pretty spot on.   My shots are still synching so I can't tell if I scored high on the 7 iron and low on driver, or if it just gives one overall score.

I guess you have to have a few sessions in before it will give recommended distances, I just randomly hit 7 iron and driver.  Perhaps I should have done P and 7 or 8 iron to be more representative of my approach game.

I have primarily used it on the range only for club carry distances and consistency.   but wanted to branch out and start using the combine.  It was pretty fun.

I have primarily used it on the range only for club carry distances and consistency.   but wanted to branch out and start using the combine.  It was pretty fun.

I meant nothing by it Rob, and I did pick up on the sarcasm with your comment.

I think my very first combine was 36.7 and to me is more realistic of what to expect with my game.

Of all of the modes of the unit, the combines were by far my favorite ones, and the ones that yield the best feedback to my game.

I manually select my club and distances so I could make up whatever number and club combination I wanted to practice, specially to ensure that I could work on my weak distances.

The good think is that I played last Saturday and had a few similar in between clubs distances, whereas I was able to replicate the efforts from the combine sessions and have very decent results.

The way to to it is to show the sole of the club to the camera, so it detects what club you are hitting, honestly as I kept my phone right in front of me I would just change the club manually.

Ah ok, just making sure..ha

I have since found found the full report of the Combine.  Lots of good info there.   Surprisingly my driver score was higher like 46 and my 7 iron was lower like 31  But that definitely is consistent with my on course play, as I usually hit a good percentage of fairways usually around 65 to 70%.  But my GIR struggles around 22%.   So iron play is definitely where I need to improve.

Just finished reading all the reviews. Great job by everyone

As a member of rhe Beta Test team in the spring. I’m so glad to see everyone enjoying it and it working so well.

Feedback From all the  Beta testers and the hard work by the developer teams a lot of changes have been implemented since the first version.  It’s truly one of the best products on the market in the sub $1000 market.

Not an official tester but I tried out the combine mode for the first time. I see a lot of this during the winter months. Only suffered through a few shots that weren’t picked up. Overall felt like the numbers were pretty accurate. Really liked how it didn’t factor in the outlier 7-iron shot I had. IMG_2743.png.5987ac7aaa818c739d77c50e19f594ed.png

This was at an actual driving range. Next one will be in the garage with a net using the Callaway balls that came with the MLM2

After approximately a weeks worth of use. I have some thoughts:

  • The MLM2Pro is a clear upgrade over the MLM Mobile.
  • Being able to do the combines with a net is useful, but it would be nice to skip the driving and add in a 3rd distance. When doing the combine on an open range, I like the driver component, but given the limited indoor space I have for my hitting net, hitting a driver there is a fool’s errand.
  • The simulator is awesome when it’s working properly. But there are bugs to be worked out. As it doesn’t capture every shot, and it only seems to miss well struck balls. Send a hosel rocket off to the right, it picks that up every time.
  • I especially like the phone being removed from the equation in regard to the camera use. On the previous generation, a sunny day would overheat the iPhone every time.

I am curious to know more about your missed shots. I have played probably 8 or so sim rounds and have only had 4 or 5 missed shots. These have also been chips which the most recent update has seemingly fixed. Or at the very least made better.

I would like there to be a fast forward ability with the hole preview though. Waiting to see the hole each time while fine, does add a lot of time to the round.

I think it has to do with time of day and the amount of light available. I’ve noticed more missed shots, at night, when the hitting area is devoid of natural light and relies solely on the artificial light of overhead light bulbs and a halogen spotlight I use to make it brighter.

Evening Spies,

Was curious if anyone had attempted to run the MLM software on Windows PC via an android emulator, successfully or not.

Cheers

P.S. Ben, I have noticed that exact same thing.. The unit seems to only miss the great ones.

Ben I'm with you on the driver part.  It will let you select a different club for it.  I've done my 5-wood and hybrid as the tee-shot club.  That's what I anticipate doing most of the winter.

Got to use my MLM2Pro indoors now that the weather is starting to go crappy. Overall, such a solid launch monitor. The only part where it starts to struggle is with higher swing speeds (110+). I feel like the spin gets a little high and the ball speed compared to the carry distances isn't as accurate.

For example, my 3 wood, when hitting on a Skytrak monitor, I was swinging around 110-112 mph. I was carrying around 245-260 depending on the strike. When testing on my MOM2Pro, it said I was carrying around 220, even when struck well. Now, it could've just been a bad ball striking day, but that number never jumped above 224 yards. Similar with my driver as well. All of the irons seem legit, which is where I'm more concerned with numbers, but something to be cognizant of.

I’ve been following and enjoyed reading this thread. I am concerned with this as well. My neighbor & I are going in on a LM. We has narrowed it down between the Skytrak OG or this MLM Pro2. I have played on the Skytrak & love it. We have enough room for the MLM2, but the only problem & questions I have for Al of you is, getting accurate readings with wedges, due to ball travel distances to the net & we both have driver SS of 115+. During my experience with the skytrak, I haven’t noticed much differences in the numbers. Of course we don’t need quite the ball travel with it. But when we hit wedges into the net now, we are getting closer, due to not wanting to hit it over the net. His coworker has the MLM2 & said that as long as we use the RPT balls, we are good. Said he tried using normal balls & wasn’t getting correct numbers with wedges & Dr/3wd. Said he bought more of the RPT balls & all is well due to the dots being picked up by the cameras. So has anyone experienced this? Purchasing a couple dozen of the RPTs would be expensive, but if it helps with the numbers & space restrictions, it would be worth it. Another, what would everyone here go with, between the two? Skytrak or MLM2? Thanks for any or all input!
