Lexi Thompson to Play In Shriner Children Open Tour Stop

She just received a sponsors exemption to play.   She is currently ranked 25th in the Rolex rankings.  How do you think she'll do.

From the womens tees she is long enough off the tee.  But her weakness has always been putting and i think the tour pin placements will give her a lot of trouble

I am hoping that Lexi does really well, and make it to the weekend, I do not think that she will contend for the win, but I am hoping a top 25 for her, she got a great deal of talent.

According to the LPGA site has her missing 8 out of 12 cuts this season.  She is a great player when she is on, but this seems to be an off year for her.  I can't imagine she would make the cut in a mens event when she is struggling in the womens events, but who knows?  She definitley has the skill set and length to compete when her game is on.

She will be playing the regular tournament tees.  Just like Michelel Wie and Annika did when they played in PGA events.

So by current tour standards Summerlin isn't crazy long, which could play into Lexi's hands, but the cut last season was -5.

Guys who missed the cut last year included Fowler, Harman, Scheffler, Theegala, Cam Young, Willy Z, Sepp Straka and some big names on the LIV side of the equation. I don't think she'll finish DFL, but the cut might be a bridge too far.

For those of us looking at stats, this is also may be the worst year Lexi's had in her career. She's 60th on the LPGA on GIR, which you'd expect to be better considering she's 13th in Distance, so she should be getting shorter clubs... but pair that with 159th in accuracy and you see a problem. Plus she's 126th in Putts Per Round, 60th in Sand Saves and all that adds up to someone who is 105th in scoring average. That's not the type of play that'll make a cut.

wow, good for her, she has had a tough year on the course this year, if she finds her form she could make the cut but a big "if"

Unfortunately, Based on current form she will be near the bottom of the leaderboard and nowhere near the cut line

I keep asking myself why would a sponsor do this to Lexi?  And why would she accept the invitation?

I'm a fan of the LPGA and follow it pretty regularly.....They really could have picked someone in better form if they want an LPGA player to make a good showing....as great as she has been in the past, Lexi is not playing well, she can't make many cuts on the LPGA this season, let alone go play on the PGA.

Seems like they could have given that invitation to someone who is playing at a higher level.....Nelly, Lilia Vu, Rose Zhang, etc....

She played/putted better at the Solheim even though our Ladies lost by 1/2 point and came in 8th this at this past LPGA weekend event. In many respects she reminds me of Rickie and I wish both of them a speedy recovery to their respective games.

I have a hard time seeing her make the cut with the status of here current game. Would be awesome to see her do well but calling it a long shot might be short of reality right now.

So I got to go walk around and watch the Monday scramble at the Shriners. I spoke with a couple of the pros and they said that these greens are the fastest they have seen in a long time. They were hoping that they would water them to slow them down. I’m guessing that they are going to keep them fast because the rest of the course isn’t very long or hard. Gotta try and add a level of difficulty somehow.

I am rooting for Lexi on this one but not optimistic on her chances of making a cut. When you look at her WITB, her clubs are more in line with what a PGA pro would use compared to the LPGA. No hybrids, a driving iron, 8º driver. She’s one of the longest hitters on the LPGA so hopefully she won’t be at a huge disadvantage. I hope she can make some putts and make some scores.

she must feel like she has a good chance to make the cut since she agreed to play. she’s good enough to make some magic happen at her best, so hopefully she brings her ‘A’ game.

I'm still at work so I haven't seen any of it, but one of the 2nd shift guys just came in and said she was 3 or 4 under with the cut being -1.

Same here.   I thought she was going to struggle; she showed she had some game.  Here putting was on point which is a place she usually struggles.

I was wrong as well.  I figured she would lose a lot of shots due to her putting but she did well.  Congrats to her!
