If you are just hitting foam balls I would suggest archery netting...

If you are only using foam balls (Almost Golf Balls), then any golf netting will work.  If you plan on using real balls, I would recommend adding the Spornia Bulls-Eye Target Sheet ($40) to the netting.  Besides giving a nice target, it helps the netting last longer.  When using short clubs like wedges, the spin will shorten the life of netting considerably.

Yes use the Almost Golf Balls. They last way longer than regular foam balls and you get some decent feedback from them. I can pretty much tell where on the club face I struck the ball. I just use some cheap netting and it’s held up fine. It may not do as well outside. I have my hitting area in the basement so weather isn’t a factor.

Using the soft golf ball you only need a netting with a hole size of approximately 1"

as the golf ball is not real, the spin damage and force etc will be minimized so anything local just to stop the ball is all that is needed.

Driver - 44.5" 5.0 flex 10.5 deg Graphite Design XC 6S GP MCC4+ 1 deg closed

Irons - 5-pw, GW stnd length 5.0 flex same grip 1 deg flat. Type low medium offset cavity back, no diggers

Wedges - 56 and 60 tour grind wedge spinner and mcc4+ grip 2 flat 10 and 8 in bounce

Putter - Makefield VS LH

Ball - truvis

Carried in a Sun Mountain C-130 USA bag - BE PROUD.

HC - LH but 85 is a good number, playing in Ohio.

There are so many nets out there. You have a ton of options but also getting one which you could one day use real golf balls would be smart.

I got a Forb net from: https://www.networldsports.co.uk/golf/golf-cages/forb-proflex-golf-cage.html

It's big, but it is great. Comes down pretty easy and packs away. Not meant for pop up and down use, but certainly seasonal.

Because I sometime hit hosel adjacenct as I’ve documented before I setup some netting behind and to the right of my Sporina net -

Got it here https://netsofamerica.com/product/golf-backstop-netting/

you could use as your side walls  but agree w the above you want a target sheet to absorb the main impact

  • 2 months later...

After digging around some more, I’ve decided to forego using the car port.

I’m getting a hitting net I can whack real balls into.

Methinks that’s the best route to go.

A friend of mine has a Callaway net he has no use for that will be mine soon. Golfworks has a $100 hitting mat.
