The end of 1 year on MGS

I really didn't know what to write,  but as I close out my 365th day of being a member of the MyGolfSpy community,  I wanted to say a few things that matter to me.

First and foremost,  Thank you!  Not just to the Mods (yall are great) but to every member here in this amazing golfing community/family!

I know this may come as a big surprise,  but before MGS I was not very interactive with many people. I am an extrovert, but just a guarded one due to my chosen profession.

I have only been active on one other online forum which I have been a member (now co-director) of for 20+ years. (Motorcycle related)

MGS has been a place where I have not felt this comfortable just being me in a long time, and for having the ability to break down my shell a little more, is truly amazing!

And in case it isn't obvious,  I have become what some might refer to as a Post-wh*re.  

But please believe me when I state that I'm not in it for stats, I just truly enjoy the engagement this community brings together.

A year ago, when I joined here enticed by the all too common "free sh!t", I was what everyone would simply call a "hack". And you known what?  I WAS A HACK!

Before MGS, My first social media interaction idea was to start a brand called Whack-F@c% Golf! And I did!  I designed my own logo, had it copyrighted, and had a friend sublimate some shirts and hats for me and everything. I never even got it off the ground.   

 

 

What has MGS done for me? MGS is a never ending fountain of information,  constantly spewing out some of the most integral ideas, processes, data, and anything related to golf you can imagine!(and them some!) 

But the most important thing I have learned from this community,  is that I truly want to become a better golfer, and this place carries some of the best information out there to do that.

In 1 year of being a member here, and with the help of many many members and their decisions to interact with me (both personally and privately) I have shaved 12 strokes off my game/hcp.  I could never imagine myself being anything more than the Whack-F! Guy before joining here. Now I am known as the CAPP scouring thrift stores and the www ether for the cheapest deals I can find.

The mods and members here make it so easy to want to be a part of this place, and I truly cannot say THANK YOU  enough to every single one of you!

I look forward to my continuing growth, consuming knowledge,  and hopefully am able to provide that in return to current and future memebers.

3600+ posts in one year is quite impressive!  Thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Ai-ONE test with you and all of the other interactions with you on the forum!

The Frankenstein-cart was impressive, looking forward to seeing it grow/change going forward.

@Rob Person Congratulations on 1year, I know personally you are a stand up sincere guy who loves the game and enjoys the interactions with so many members.

That’s awesome! I’m coming up on 1 year myself (June 3rd) and though I didn’t think to post about it I did think back on how much I’ve enjoyed being a part of MGS. I haven’t improved as much as you or as much as I’ve hoped to on the course but I definitely have improved over the last year and a big part of that is thanks to MGS. This time last year I was laid up with a broken ankle and somewhat down in the dumps and thankfully I found this community that has been very entertaining and informative about this game/ obsession I have!

Yes I see you did with your math!!! I read the 365 day text but didn’t look at the math closely - nothing new there for me.
