Polarizing Products In Golf

Recommended Posts

What are some polarizing products or the ones you find garner most buzz on either side of the fence?

Is the the Autoflex shaft? Could it be BOA shoe system, tour only products, colored golf balls and more?

I want to hear your ideas, thoughts and answers to what you feel are the most polarizing!

Interesting topic - In my lifetime I’ve seen a few - interestingly what starts as polarizing often becomes mainstream.

I remember when Ping putters and irons were polarizing.

Soon there after it was Wilson irons - the concept was some sort of flex face that I’d see as a forerunner to what Adam’s did later and many iron makers do today.

I think colored balls were next

But the biggest two began to show up then were - graphite shafts and metal headed woods. Yes both were extremely polarizing at first.

Recently I’d say that the PXG and LiV are the most polarizing things I’ve seen in golf.

Driver: Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  R flex   - 44.25

Fairways:  Ping G410 5, 7, 9 wood  Alta CB red 65 R flex

Hybrid:  Ping G410  26 degree  Alta CB Red 70 R flex

Irons: Ping G430  7-PW, 45, 50 Alta CB black 65 soft R flex

Wedges:  Ping 195 S54, E58

Wedges and irons are - 1/2” and one degree flat

Putter: Sacks Parente Duke 32.5”

Ball: Titleist Pro VI or Callaway Chrome Soft X ls

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

Yesterday was the first time in a while that I played with someone who wanted it out. But I agree with you. Forgot about that one when I was making my list.

When I’m solo on the course, I leave the pin in. My boss and I played 18 at his nice CC recently, and pulled the pin. I’m good either way, but I can see where it could be a situation.

Definitely iron head covers.

For whatever reason, the discussion of iron head covers always brings out the arguments. It's not ugly here, but on other boards it's been a very ugly topic with so many "keyboard hero's" throwing around their ugliness for no real reason.

Weather or not Tiger Woods should retire. I for one say why would he?? Does anyone who genuinely think so actually play golf? I love golf! Tiger loves golf!! People don't quit golf if they don't have to. Why wouldn't he want to see his peers multiple times per year. Compete and have fun. Might as well tell anyone under top 100 in world ranking to quit and retire because they're clearly not winning. If I was tiger I would play any time I damn well felt , I'd play champions tour, senior tour, until I die! Why? Because I'm not even that good and I plan on playing until I absolutely no longer can because I have a foot in the grave. Go Tiger! I hope one day soon he wins and shuts up the haters. Until then I don't care if he takes some guys spot I've never heard of. He DESERVES it.

I agree with you.  And I am not sure why iron head covers are so controversial.  It is like one's "golf manhood" is enhanced by not using them or diminished by, in fact, using them.

1.  I dislike the "clank" sound of unprotected clubs in the cart, and especially in the back of my SUV.
2.  Clubs are expensive -  my forgings are somewhat soft, and as I am constantly looking for something slightly different, why diminish the sales or trade-in value by having them "bag-chattered."
3.  There are so many other things in golf...and in life...to worry about.
