To my dear wife.

I know you are not reading this (thank goodness) but I have done some high level evaluations. Since I walk over 90% of my rounds and it increases my fitness, health, and longevity and I have saved $20.00 per round on cart fees. That equates to saving $160 a month minimum. So in order to keep my feet as healthy I think buying new golf shoes every other month is a good idea.

Oh by the way my first delivery came today while on my mental health support group call AKA the Community Call.

Thank you for your support.

Maybe we need a Golf Shoe of the Month club. A membership will get you one pair of golf shoes each month throughout the year.

A few weeks ago I posted in the Good Morning Thread that my brother left a nasty sky mark on my driver. I played a round outside and a few rounds indoors and it was bothering me every drive (Click here for that post). So I slowly began the hunt for something different and ended up buying a Cobra LTDx 9* Driver with a Project X Blue Smoke 60g 6.0 shaft from a fellow spy! Thanks @Shrek74!! Arrived yesterday after a short UPS trip from TN to MI! I cannot wait to get out and give this thing a rip!

I've played that same club last year. I like it in the Steadfast Jupiter 1 shaft. I may take it out again this year. I do have the Ventus shaft for it, but had more success with the Jupiter 1.

How'd you like the head? I'm looking for some distance and some forgiveness compared to my PXG Gen4 driver.

I was fit into the blue smoke shaft a couple of years ago, but PXG didn't offer it. So they put me in a Mitsubishi Tensei Blue, which has been good for me. I have the blue smoke in my 3 wood and love it.

I liked it, not as much as the Ping 410 LST, but better than my PXG gen 5. I was fitted in the Ventus 6X for the PXG, but I hated that driver. My daughter loves it so I re-shafted the PXG for her. I changed the tip on the Ventus to Cobra and used it half the season, but my buddy @Derek Eskam turned me on to the Jupiter 1 shaft. I really liked it in that shaft. I have my Ping in that shaft but am trying the Newton 5 and 6 Dots in both the 410 and 425 LSTs today. I am a fan of the Jupiter 1 shafts, they play like a + shaft in stiffness. I went with stiff when I bought them. They are straight, really straight so it will be hard to pry me away from them. I have played the Tensei shafts in white, blue and orange. I didn't like them very much. I could play them, but the Ventus and Jupiter shafts were better for me. Happy Birdie Hunting!

Been on a bit of a bender. PXG had a sale, so grabbed a GEN 2 3W. (Did I mention I LOVE 🥰 how PXG boxes and sends their clubs??)

Been wanting to try TRUE Links golf shoes; again a sale, so again I pull the trigger. Word of advice: READ all the literature. Received these very quickly, tried them on (ordered the size I always wear) and they were too small. Huh… Start figuring out a return/exchange process and notice a SMALL link to “What Size Should I Order?” Hmmm… Anyway, they note that the shoes run small, and you should order a 1/2 to a full size larger than normal. So, after a few emails back and forth with their EXCELLENT customer service, a new pair is on the way in a different (and hopefully correct) size.
Last but not least, I have an Ogio bag that I like, but the legs have proven to be junk. A sale called my name yet again, and I am now the proud owner of a Ping Hoofer, finally.

Think I’m probably done for the foreseeable future, but if that “SALE” bell rings, who knows?? 😂

My buddy just bought the same one in the duck orange/camo pattern.  He loves it.

Feedback on the shoes? Are those polyfoam soles?

You’re spot on with the true links sizing. I was lucky enough to see that before I bought. I would add, the toe box on the ones I bought (same exact style and color as you) is super wide. If you have w narrow feet, these may not be the shoes for you. Also, can’t go wrong with a ping hoofer. I have the craz e lite and walk 2ish times a week. It’s the best walking bag I’ve found.

unccross I don't even carry a 4 or 5 iron any longer. My irons end at 6 and hybrids start at a 4. So I have about a 20 yard gap in there. Went over to the PGX store in Mesa last week to look at their stuff and hear about the military discount. Ended up getting fitted for a Black Ops 5 for a very reasonable price. Picked it up at their main store in Scottsdale this afternoon. Hit it a few times in their simulator/fitting bays and brought it home. Tomorrow it joins me on the course for my regular men's club day.

A small cost purchase, but hoping this new putter grip helps give me more feel and works well with my Sik putter. I thought about going old-school with a Ping blackout skinny putter, but I'll give this a go as middle-ground. It felt good rolling a few putts on the indoor mat earlier, but the real test will be Sunday's round (weather allowing).

Initial impressions are good though. Nice amount of grip, firm texture and light weight. Also like the subdued black and grey appearance.

Old grip: Superstroke Traxion Pistol 2.0.

New grip: JumboMax JMX Pistol Pro.

I'm not sure I could use anything but a pistol grip after the way it feels on the DB putter. I've even considered changing them out on the few goodwill finds I've picked up.

WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter.

Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time.
