My wife hates this course. Won't watch. She is a huge sports nut and doesn't understand why make it so difficult. She says isn't Augusta hard and the same every year? Why does the USGA need to try so hard to make it miserable.

US Open to me is supposed to be the impossible. I want a golf course to challenge these guys. -26 scores are a joke. This is the one chance the course is supposed to fight back. At least that's the way I see it. I can also see that a lot of people hate it because it can seem gimmicky to make it hard as possible.

This would be Gary Player's point. While those of us who are into the game get it, casual fans don't and this kind of stuff turns them off. That and the fiver hour plus rounds the first two days. It's not the best way to grow the game.

I believe because of this hike there is a lot of latitude.

This is what I love about the majors

The Masters: Is the same every year, it is perfect, it has history and tradition but it is really not a hard course. They want it to be a birdie fest

US Open: Is the toughest test, you are playing against the course

OPEN: You are playing against the elements

PGA: Highlights the pros ability

They are all unglue and not the same and all have their own merits and differences. That is why I like them, I would not want 4 Masters tournaments

I still don't see how this Open is any harder than having 8- 12 inch rough 1 foot off the fairway or the greens where you cannot even hit the ball

Fully agree. The most offensive thing ever was the introduction of the while we're theme during an early round of the US Open. You're going to tell me I play slow when I'm watching Pro's take 5 plus hours? I played 18 in 2:45 tokay.

 

Now Rory is in it. If he could somehow get to -4 and keep it ther he'd have a great chance at a playoff. Get to 5 and who knows.
