First Time Breaking a Milestone

This is a non scoring related milestone and didnt happen on the course.  Some of you old timers may even be able to remember the moment.

I had my first suck back on a wedge shot.

Usually my wedge shots roll forward after a bounce, but I had a genuine drop and suck back.  With a range ball at 90 yards.

... Awesome, glad you had that experience! Otoh, watching a ProV1 spin off an island green and into the water is not anywhere near as enjoyable. 😳

For the first time in my golfing career, my handicap is no longer in the teens!

With my play this year, I've been trending down from a 14, but for a long time was stuck at 13.3.

My last three rounds however have dropped me down to a 12.8!

Now for the hard part of keeping the trend going the correct way.

The round that sticks out the most is when I finally broke 80. I had been playing a bunch in high school and had gotten closer but always had that one shot that ruined the round. Finally, on a Sunday morning playing with my Dad and our neighbor at the time (who we played with very often) on our home course at the time it happened.

As any good round like this should it started with a solid tee shot to 90 yards and I stuffed the shot to a few feet for an easy birdie and the round rolled from there. More specific shots don't stick out currently except that I was just solid throughout the round. Lots of fairways and green, despite all this the last few holes were nerve wracking for sure. Walking off 18 after that last putt dropped I could not have been more excited. I think I still have the scorecard in my bag somewhere.

I forgot to post after my last round.  I played September 12th with my sons and a friend.  It was rather short notice, and helped me forget the fact I wasn't in NE Ohio with the group.  I surprised myself with a round of 94.  Considering I played a total of 3, 18 hole rounds, and was a sub in a league 4 times.  Not a great year of playing opportunities.

Now this is nothing significant in the realm of golf scores, but I was happy with it...

Last time I played 18, on the closing Par 5, I hit three (!!!) good golf shots plus one good putt* in a row.

Whoo hoo!

* Epilogue: the hole was not a birdie .. I missed (?!?) the less than 2 ft second putt.......

Awesome! I don't remember my first back to back birdies.  It doesn't happen that often though.  I did 3 in 4 holes a couple of years ago.  The round was a shitshow, but those 4 holes will not be forgotten until Alzheimer's sets in.

Nothing presently.  I'm doing a full rebuild soon after my golfer's elbow heals and I get a full fitting.

Well, I remember my last back to back birdies now!  I did it today!  Birdied a par 4 after an offline drive, then a 5wd to 12'.  Hit a knockdown wedge from 106 on the 2nd to about 6' and buried the putt.  Love that feeling.

Not a major milestone, but hit two intermediate mileage markers 😉😄 - scored a clean 45 on the second 9 of the day on a pretty good course - thanks in large part to a par on the last hole .. which was thanks to an up and down from a greenside bunker 👍

That finishing hole has been one of the more difficult for me .. hit a solid tee shot to the left side of the fairway, a not so solid but straight second shot that made a beeline for the left greenside bunker pin high, pulled off a nice touch escape with the ball rolling towards the pin and then nailed the putt right in!!

Broke 70 for the 1st time Saturday after playing 39 years. Starting really working on my game and trying to break this barrier last spring. Herniated a disc in my neck which kept me out for 3 months, but finally got it done. I have a post about it on here somewhere.

Congratulations!  You are now in some rarified air for amateur golf.
