How far do you hit your 7 iron

Watching the raffle yesterday, on of the guys hit a 7 iron for one of the give-aways..

 

I think I remember it going 216 or thereabouts, which stunned me. When I was younger, i could hit my MP33 7 iron 180.

Now I hit my RC forged CB on reg shaft about 160.

 

How far do you hit your 7 iron, and what brand is it?

I have a Taylormade mb and I hit it 160 comfortably, I couldn't imagine a 200 yd 7 iron, my God!

Adam looked like he was in good shape, so I guessed 180 and about crapped when he hit 216. If I nail one, 170 is about the limit. Average is more like 155-160 range.

 

Edit: current irons are 20 year old PowerBilt TPS's.

... Cobra Forged Tour and comfortable carry is 165. I tipped my son's DGX100 shafts 1" and 1/2" longer than standard in some RBZ Tours and he hits his 7 iron 185. In fact he usually just takes two less clubs than I do and it is usually spot on.

I'll pull the 7 iron anywhere between 165-180. It's got the most versatility in my bag. I like my 7 and don't really feel good about pumping up an 8 or sawing off a 6.

 

That being said, wind is almost always a factor where I play but the perfect distance is 175 with no wind.

At the moment I'm bout 170+ carry but I've been working out hard the last few months. Ideally I'd like to keep it around that but have the extra gear to take it further if needed

I am 160-165 with my Callaway X-hot pro.    I have hit the Mizuno JPX-900 Hot Metals and carried them 190.  

 

Adam is a pretty in shape guy and can really hit the ball well.   Sam while much smaller has a great swing that can really move the ball (as you saw with his 308 tee shot).

Geez I'm a piker at only 140-145. But then I'm 70 and only been playing 5-6 years. I must say though that the 7 iron is my go to club especially when all the other clubs are broken.

About 160 carry in the Seattle area. It's a TM SLDR, with a reg. flex shaft. I'm pretty sure I need a stiff, though.

Damn.... you young guys are killing me! I used to be around the 170 mark with a 7 iron. Now..... it's my 150 - 155 club. I've noticed a "noticeable" loss of distance the past year or two. I play Mizuno irons.

Long drive is quite a different animal isn't it. I saw a kid I played baseball with doing the long drive in Vegas. That was quite a shock because I didn't even know he played golf.

I need two extra gears, LOL.  Looks like I need more practice.  PK (pre-kids), I was hitting a 7 iron (Mizuno MP-32s S300s) 165 yards on the high end and 155 on the low end.  Now it's more 145-150 with Mizuno MP-57s PX5.5s

Currently hitting Miura Cb 57s with modus 130x shafts standard length. Loft is 34*, standard Miura.

 

Average is 176yds, I can go into the low 180s but that's quickly followed by the lefts.

Playing most consistent golf now so I won't complain!
