Project X PXV shaft flex

Hey guys..... if I take a project x pxv iron shaft 6.0 and use it in a set of single length clubs without tip trimming it at all and make them 7 iron length how much softer will the flex play? Have an opportunity to get them at a great price but they only have 6.0 and 6.5 available and I am 68 and stopped playing stiff shafts a few years ago. Will using them raw soften them anywhere near a reg flex? Thanks for any assistance

project X shafts are extremely stout shafts. Not tip trimming them will soften them up but not enough to where they become a reg flex shaft. Project X 6.0 shafts are 115g shaft. for an individual such as yourself i would recommend going to 105g or 100g.

Honest advice here, call Project X customer service and ask. I’m sure they’d let you know.

Butt trimming a shaft does NOT make it play softer.  In fact, if you butt trim too much, youll actually make it play slightly stiffer (not stiffer than when you tip trim, but stiffer than the original profile at the original length.

 

  They will will play much lighter and the swing weights will be a mess, but they will not play softer.

Thanks for the reply. I probably should have mentioned that these are graphite shafts and weigh approx 77g. Not sure if that makes a big difference but I guess my best bet is to just spend a few extra bucks and get a good R flex shaft and get it over with. Thanks again
