The X5 does display what your score vs par is IMG_5461.jpeg.cb17427c4b70fe724563537885f628ff.jpeg

It can be seen here as +3

and the nice thing I noticed about it is if you forget to record your score the "+3" in your example turns into an exclamation point reminding you to go back and fix something.

Sorry , you right. What I mean it doesn't show you current score of that particular hole. it does show your scores so far, so if am +5 after 5 holes. I see that on the screen.

Played my first 18 holes yesterday with the V5, after uploading my round i can see that almost all my chips didn't get tracked. I guess this is because the watch didn't wake up from my practice swings(i know i manually tagged a few shots before taking my practice swings), the weird thing is that i made sure to tag these shots and the suggested score after each hole was correct. All my full shots did get tracked.

Do i need to take bigger practice swing when i am around the green?

OK fellow Spies, I don't want to start a new thread but really need help with a question. I have a V2 and am looking at up grading to a V5. I use my V2 every round and probably not to its full capacity. I like it a lot, my question is will I get so much more out of a V5, or should I just stick with my V2? I track most everything on a spreadsheet of my Shot Scope now. Thanks in advance for any feed back.

What do you track on a spreadsheet?    What do you use the ShotScope system to do and anaylze?  What do you wish it would do?

I find that sometimes chips aren’t tracked, especially when I choke down. I’ve started holding the tag near the watch band before setting up for my shot and checking the watch and registered the club

I played my first 6 hole practice round last Friday using the V5. Coming from the H4, I did not yet switch the tags on my clubs to the new versions, but everything got detected nicely (with the exception of 1 chip I think).

What I really like about the V5:

  • no need to tap clubs to the H4 cube (and take it out of my pocket and store it again)
  • score tracking is very cool (and now I wonder why they do not have that in the H4...)

One thing though that confused me a bit: Do I get the course bird view only for par 4 and 5's? The practice course only consisted of par 3's and I never got the map view of the hole (so I always saw the same thing that the H4 would show me). Or is there a setting that I missed? I left everything on default so far.

If you swipe right from the main screen the next screen should show you the Birds Eye view. At least that’s how the X5 does it so guessing the V5 is the same

I checked the manual, it's a few button clicks away. I will give it a try on the next round.

It would  be cool though to have the view switch automatically depending on the distance to the pin (and/or make it user configurable).

Another idea: record a GPS data point every 15 seconds or so, then visualize that on a separate layer on the webpage later too - to see where you walked, looked for your ball, etc. And this might help as well to fix some "lost shots".

I guess it all depends on your personal preference. Personally I like being able to see the distances rather than an overview primarily so just having to swipe across to bring up Birds Eye view suits me

Everyone is different.  I used the h4 to give me distances and track my shots.  I really didn’t want anything else.

It could be that the par 3 course is not mapped and therefore doesn't provide you with the overview.

@tony@CIC if he’s getting his distances from the watch then won’t the course be mapped?

The course is mapped, as I have played many rounds on it with the H4 already. I was only confused that I do not get the birds eye view automatically, since many (most?) of the pictures you see on the V5 product page show exactly that. So that's why I assumed I should get this kind of view as well.

Anyone had trouble lately with locking on to satellites? Yesterday, I stood on the first tee for about six minutes (no one behind or in front of me) waiting. I ended up teeing off and the watch finally locked when I got to the green. It had taken almost ten minutes.

Yes, actually I did. I assumed it was an anomaly.  Last Tuesday I played at a mid-Michigan course that I play most of the summer with little or no trouble connecting. It took so long to get a signal that I thought something was wrong, so I did a reset of the X5; it didn't help. I didn't time it, but after the reset it took the amount of time for the group ahead of me to all hit their 2nd shot, for my group to all tee off, and me to get to my 2nd shot! In fairness, the course is in a heavily wooded area. But there are currently no leaves on the trees and it was a mostly sunny day. I'm playing there again tomorrow so we'll see how it fairs.

Just got my X5 today. Its charging now. I’ll dive deep into this thread and other info.  But one question off the top of my head.

I play lots of 3-5 or 6 hole rounds.  I dont keep or post and official score for those of course.  But will my shot data be kept and calculated into my overall stats?

Thanks for any thoughts/advice on that.

Received the V5 on Thursday last week.

Charged it quickly for a 9 hole round Thursday evening.  First time using was pretty easy for the basic stuff, like distance to green and scoring.  The more advanced features required me to RTFM, read the *ing manual.  After 3 more rounds it is very simple to use.  It picks up the club in-hand almost automatically, sometimes it will require a few swings of the club before it identifies.

The editing afterwards is still a work in progress, but becoming better at how the process works.

Compared to my SkyCaddie, yardages are very close to each other.  One thing I do miss on the V2 is our course rotates pin positions daily.  The SkyCaddie has the 3 zones pre-mapped so you at least are getting front/middle/back pin yardages without having to remember where the pin is for the day.  The SkyCaddie also is much easier to find distance to any thing on the course since it is touch-screen.

Thanks, it says it can be used, but not whether it keeps and calculates those stats into your history.  I guess it would say if it didn't.   And I will find out soon enough as I do a partial round on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week before a 9 hole round.

My local course has a 6 hole academy (beginners) round, that is mapped in shot scope as a 9 hole round. I play the 6 holes and then select "end round". With this, all my shots make it into the shot scope performance statistics.

I just got picked as a tester for the v5 watch. I’m very excited to get it in hand and test it out. A few questions to the Shotscope group. I’m currently using the H4.

1) Are the tags the exact same. Can I leave the ones that I have in my clubs now, or will I need to switch them out with the new ones?

2) with the h4 I have to manually tag each shot including putting. I tag every put and then mark hole location with number of putts buttons. How does marking your putts work with the watches. Thanks

1) Yes, you can use the same tags.

2) Depends on which putting method you use. Assuming the V5 works the same as the X5, in Manual mode, you tap the watch at each putt location, then again, to mark the hole location. In Auto mode, with the putter tag installed, you just select the number of times you used the putter, not just the number of putts on the green, while standing over the hole. That confirms the number of putt and marks the hole location at the same time.
