Understanding this is very preliminary and not verified by me... but ran across this pic "on the web".... I am extremely interested in what a potential '23 version of the 921 series will look like - and what improvements will be touted over the prior version... this could be a sneak peek of what is to come?

The Mizuno rep told the owner of my local shop that Mizuno concentrated on raising the launch of the 923 Hot Metals and adding ball speed.  In fact, he said the first head they submitted to the USGA for testing failed the test because it was too hot.  I assume he was referring to the c.o.r. test.

Sounds promising.  I’ll get the full rundown on the lineup this week.

A couple of notes. COR hasn’t been used for several years.  Drivers are now tested by the CT limit of .239  I believe, with a tolerance of 18 points actually allowing a CT of .257 (characteristic Time) as it is easier and less time consuming than COR testing.  Although most OEM will stay a bit below that .257 to avoid having a driver test above the limits  at an event

Irons don’t come close to those limits so there is no official testing that I’m aware of.  As there is no real outcry on people hitting irons 400 yards and making courses obsolete 😬

The info was second hand so the info could have been misunderstood by the shop owner. I’m guessing the emphasis on launch angle is correct.

Loved (!) the looks of the the 921s, so I can only assume (given how absolutely perfect-looking the 221/223/225s were) that these will absolutely knock it out of the park.  I'd love to see them care less about a 28 degree 7-iron (I'd be thrilled with 30, to be honest) and more about the smallest dispersion pattern possible - but I also realize they need to "compete" distance-wise.  Sounds like, with that face being supposedly "too hot" (whatever that means, I'm okay with it, I guess), that's not going to be an issue.

Can't wait to see what they've got in store.

Really waiting for the fall to test the 923 forged against the pro 225. Glad to see the 923 series is starting to get some love and also build hype as hopefully they near a future release date. I love how the mizuno site allows you to look at specs and compare sole size, head length, offset and top line. It really shows you the progression of size which I find really interesting when comparing future considerations

I heard second hand that that the HMs will be stronger lofted. Stronger lofted with appropriate launch angles would be awesome.

I believe you used hot metals at one point over the last year? Did you find that you had a harder time launching the ball as high as you wanted?

I can’t wait, odds are I’ll replace my irons with JPX923 Forged or HMPs this Fall (and T22s). I hit my JPX 900 Forged vs MP 225s a couple months ago, almost identical on a launch monitor so I didn’t buy. Almost no difference in distance, dispersion, launch angles, ball speed, etc. for me.

Anxious for this launch... I have been holding off on considering new irons for exactly this release (doesn't stop me from swinging several options at my local shop whenever I can ;)).  The 92x line is inspired and much imitated across many other manufacturers.  I have the 221's, and they are a blast to play... but they are blades, and for gaming I get better results more consistently with my T200's... I can't wait to compare and contrast against my current set, the WS D9's, and the TM Stealth... Will always own at least one set of Mizuno's - made that decision when I bought my first set of new TZoid Pros then moved into the MP-33's (which were my all time favorite irons but were unfortunately liberated from my trunk many years ago).  Gamed the MP-68's (still have them) for many years before trying the MP-20 HMB's... which didn't click with me for some reason - and settled on the "player's club look" of the Titleist T-200's after a Titleist Fitting Day at my club last year.

Once released, I have a feeling I will land somewhere between the JPX923 and the JPX923 Tour, but will swing the Hot Metals as well (I think TM did a great job with feel on a cast club so I will be interested to see how Mizuno uses their skills to further enhance the feel of the Hot Metal line).

Those are a lot of words to agree with @Middler above... I can't wait.

I play Hot Metals currently and really like them. No trouble with launch, was just saying if they make the lofts stronger and essentially keep the launch characteristics, i would be happy.

So far I like the launch and the distance. I wouldn’t mind a bit more spin holding firm greens but I don’t know anyone who has that lol

Yep... that is the trend for GI's  the Stealth did a pretty darn good job an achieving that... I have to believe Mizuno will find a way to reposition the weighting to accomplish it too.  Stealth (for example) launch with Mizuno feel... Wow!

Higher launch with same (or better) distance would bring the ball into the greens at a steeper angle... which would aide in holding those firm greens.  🙂

You sound like me!  I have the T-200s in the bag that replace a set of MP-20s which replaced a set of MP-57's.  Still have those two sets as I don't want to part with them for some strange reason, LOL.  Took out the MP20s to the range the other day and while I hit some pretty decent shots, a few off center reminded me why I need a bit more forgiveness as I saw a drop of 10 yards or more from those off center hits (who am I kidding they were toe hits😀😀😂). Might give the new irons a try and see how I like them but for now the T-200's are firmly in my bag.

Haha!!!  I am VERY familiar with those "off center hits" with my blades... haha - some swings I'm happy I even made contact on the face!!  We do sound very much alike.  I have absolutely not complaints with the T200's... especially since putting in the Modus3 Tour 115's as part of the MGS testing process... they are GREAT irons.  There is just something about me a Mizuno Irons...

Something about Mizunos are right!  Fell in lust over the MP-32's when they first came out!  Had to wait a year for the Lefty version to hit the market and I was the first in line to get them.  I am very happy with the T-200's though...in fact I'm even slowly switching over all my Mizuno swag like my Mizuno hats, towels to Titleist stuff.  Still, there's still a glimmer in my eye every time I see a new Mizuno iron come out...Time is taking a toll on me, I no longer play S300 or even PX5.5.  I was fitted to AMT Reds in regular flex in the T200s.  Still, I'm thinking I need to reshaft the MP-20s in the same flex to see if I can get her more playable...lol

i was fit into the 225’s this year, they were by far my best trackman numbers, though very close to my current gamers. but the feel sucked and the sound was horrible and absolutely not what i’ve wanted ever since the first time i hit a mizuno and fell in love with the feel. I was super disappointed and ended up staying with my apex cf 16 for another year. will definitely try to fit into these new jpx’s, but with mizuno probably putting their new face tech on there, i’m prepared for disappointment.
