@fozcycle, have fun on Hilton Head Island.  It should be a fun round.  Jack's courses are always a challenge.  As far as posting for the Match Play event, I hate to say, but partner, we're out of it.   We fell 0.5 points off of first place so we did not make the playoffs.

Please make sure you post it on Week 26 of the VCT.  I'm interested to see how you do!

Finally, what proved to be the closest finish of all the Divisions:  The Walter Hagen Division.  If you remember, after Week 2 Duckboats 2.0 held a one point lead over both In The Cup Kids and Net Birdie (3.0 to 2.0 respectively).  Here the first place team played the forth place team Birdie Blasters and the two tied for second place faced off.

Here's the results of Week 3 in the Hagen Division:

image.png.9b97a701858c79df5728b075319f0bd6.png

In the first matches, Randall Robbins and USMCSnyper dominated JohnSmalls and Placasse61 winning 4 and 3.  In that match, Birdie Blasters were never down.  In the second match, GolfSpy_CG2 and his partner, substitute Paco Chan (shooting a collective -12) won three of the last four holes taking them 2 and 1.  Javs and GolfSpy BOS were no slouches shooting a collective -10.  In the other two matches, second place teams In the Cup Kids and Net Birdie split their matches, each winning 2 up and each taking 6 holes to 4 (that will be important later).

So, Week 3 standings are as follows:

image.png.afd2d52d95e0ac410f6e9b9c23e44f8c.png

Add Week 3 with the two previous weeks and you get (those good at math will get this quickly):

image.png.3cfd17ab04894a40d88c64a161506410.png

ALL FOUR TEAMS TIED WITH IDENTICAL SCORES AND THREE POINTS!

Move on to the tie breaker.  First is head to head.  That's useless as they all had the same win/loss record.  For those who remember a week ago, I wrote about the second tie breaker, the number of holes won.  By the slightest margin, Duckboats 2.0 take the Hagen Division by winning two more holes than In the Cup Kids and three more than Net Birdie and Birdie Blasters!   Just to be sure, I had to check it three times!

Congratulations @GolfSpy BOS, @Javs, @JohnSmalls ,  @Placasse61 and @TylorJudd who subbed!

While it sucks to not make the playoffs, this is awesome to see. Nice job everyone!

Thank you! Back 9 was the best golf I’ve played this year hands down. If not for some 3 putt woes I could have carded a 39. Definitely want to do more of the mixers next summer, we were gone so much this year. I am not playing the Ryder Cup event Sunday unfortunately. It looks fun though!

Gah! @Golf2Much Posting the score here! Shot 84 last Thursday and jetted down to Miami for the opening home game for the Dolphins. Had placed my score on a scorecard and left it in my car at the airport … had to hide Grint notifications that day. 😬

It’s a 27 hole course at Wescott and I realized late last night that the score has the handicaps done from 1-9 for each 9 … placed the scores back into The Grint to get the 18 hole handicaps calculated and to reflect my course handicap of 11.

And to add to all that, I’ve for sure got COVID … feel like absolute crap today.

Go Dolphins!

Your Dolphins looked pretty good against the Denver "School of the Blind" Broncos.  I got a feeling it won't be as easy against my Bills come Sunday.  I'll actually be traveling up to Miami to rate Don Shula's golf course on Monday for the Florida State Golf Association.  So, unfortunately, I'll probably miss most of the game.

This has been a blast. The most disappointing thing is that I changed the teams up this week. If I would have left them alone, we would have had 1 loss and 1 tie. We would have won the overall bracket and advanced. Instead, we had 2 losses. We would have lost the first match no matter what. This is so “Golf”. “If I would have played more break”, “hit an 8 instead of 9”, “if I would have….” I did something that didn’t work out and we lost.

I’m not taking anything away from the Distinguished Gentlemen. They played better and I wish them the best.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to participate in this and had a great group of guys to play with.

And thanks to @Golf2Much and  @GolfSpy TCB . This is a tremendous amount of work running this.

For those following (and why wouldn't you), the first semi-final matches are set.    Duckboat Vol. 2 (Hagen Division winner) is taking on Sharky Mac'n Swans (Nicklaus Division winner).

The individual matches are as follows (Duckboat Vol. 2 players on the left):

@GolfSpy BOS versus @GolfSpy_BNG captains leading by example by setting the pace and going out first.

@JohnSmalls versus @fredsharky  Fredsharky is the only player in these semi-finals match with three wins.  JohnSmalls is looking to make sure that's not four wins come next Monday.

@Placasse61 versus @LinksgolfFever  Both are looking to add a win to their totals.

@Javs versus @swansosa in the critical anchor match.  Both have two wins under their belts and are strong competitors.  I have a feeling both want their respective teams to win before it gets down to their match!

Buckle up and let's see what happens!

@fredsharky, that is true, it does take a team (or village).  However, you were the common denominator!

Handicaps are exactly why we do the tournament this way as it levels the playing field.  Just look at Barbie's Birdie Bandits last week against L.A.B. Results.  Barbie's collective course handicap was 85 and L.A.B. Results was 45.   Barbie's Birdie Bandits ended up taking both matches 3 and 2!  So, you never know!

It's risky but can be very rewarding having a VERY high handicap like myself on a team.  When things go well, the results can be amazing!  Much easier for me to have a "good" day and get some luck that results in a low hole score vs a low handicap.  They'll hit par more often, but I have a good chance at net albatross!

a lot of "really good", "career low", "best round ever" scores this week.... 😆

Funny you said that.  It was an interesting week of golf.  Played a par-3 night round Wednesday evening and I shot -1 at the end with 2 bogeys.  Got rained out Thursday; played Friday and Saturday with a tropical storm going through and missed the cut to play TPC Myrtle Beach Sunday, but had a heck of a "consolation" round at another course to roll it all up.  Sometimes I wonder why I play this game LOL!

I shot an 87 which makes me even par!

oh well, it was fun trying.
