Popular Post Blaine Dye
Hello everyone well as you can see by my username my name is Blaine Dye I want to first thank MyGolfSpy and Odyssey for this amazing just in time for christmas gift and oppurtuntity I grew up in a small town outside of Joplin Missouri, But I now live in North west Arkansas which is where my love for golf has grown Me and my Amazing wife moved here about 2 years ago for a fresh start and the Apartment we found was on a golf course I was one of those people that was never interested in golf because it was SO EASY and BORING boy was I wrong! It is the most fun and challenging game I have every played. My new Favorite part of golf is watching my friends get into it and teaching them what I know so we can all have a great time. The worst part of my game is definatly my putting but that also means I feel like I am perfect for this test because I have been putting a lot of time into my putting and im getting better I have become a big believer in the texas wedge off the green when my shot calls for it so finding a putter I trust will be a big boost hopefully this is it So now to the test my current Gamer is a Wilson Harmonized putter and the Odyssey I was chosen for is the Double wide DB I went and did a putter fitting because I have been in the market for a putter for a while so im excited I was chosen for a putter that matches my specs I was given I am super excited to get this test going and give a honest review the biggest hope im going for is this putter will magically make me putt like tiger………. Just kidding im hoping that it feels good off the face and its rolling true im hoping the Claims are true and the loss of speed when it comes to a slight miss hit is true I don’t always hit the center like most of us. If you have any Questions about something you want to see tested Let me know I try to golf 2-3 times per week but with this weather getting colder it will be a lot of matt time in the kitchen First impression 19/20 I finally got my hands on this baby and man is it beautiful Very timely shipping and its even better when you think about these were ordered around Christmas time but here's the results for day one So I got the notification it came so of course I had to speed home and take it down to the practice green. One thing I really wanted to test was across the face how the speed changes because the biggest claim they make on this new putter is consistent speed across the face and because if your like me you don’t always hit the dead center of the putter so there claim really intrigued me I started by going out two club lengths and tried my best to keep my swing the same the results are below toe hit center hit heel hit I did notice that the center is still king on day one but I'm going to go more in-depth into this putter and going to also just have some fun with this test so come along for the ride! I took away 1 points simply because When I opened my package all it was was my putter and my receipt I feel like it should be protected in some way while it is being shipped FINAL REVIEW ( pictures to be uploaded later tonight) Aesthetics (8 out of 10 Don’t get me wrong this putter is beautiful I took a point off because the step in the actual putter itself when I’m looking down on the ball is a little bit of an eye sore for me personally, I’m getting used to it but the stairstep in it is just not it for me. On a positive note, I love the Blue on the putter and on the cover, it pops and stands out the magnets in the cover are strong and secure and all in all the putter looks fantastic and the Window in the putter is a bonus point to me because it makes the putter unique! And as far as the sound of the putter that is where I took the other point when you hit the center as you are supposed to the putter is very quiet to me but its when you hit the outside or where the insert meets the club it makes the click noise almost like when you tap a key on a piece of metal. The speed control is still there its just the noise that I can’t get behind. The Feel of this putter I almost wanted to give the 2 points back it has been a game changer for me I feel so confident standing over this putter and it’s a feeling I’ve never had…… Confidence while putting. I feel as if I can hit it anywhere and taking out the user error its going at the speed and line, I wanted it to The Numbers (10 out of 10) Now granted I haven’t got to play a lot of rounds with this putter just practice green and at home putting but as I stated above my confidence in this putter is amazing and I think that has to do with the speed control and balance it has. On the practice green I have noticed my make range go out about 2-3 foot from where it was and my number of 3 putts is almost non existent which coming from the guy who 3 putts at least 3-4 times a round that is saving me strokes hopefully once spring hits and the weather is better I can get on the course and not just the practice green and really find out if I’m just getting to know my practice green to well or if this putter is really the answer I’ve been looking for I’ve always believed it’s the Indian not the arrow but having a well made arrow really does make a difference the Forgiveness on this putter is great I’m not one to always hit the center and knowing I can hit a little off center and still get the same roll out/ speed is a great feeling I no longer stress so much about hitting the center and can focus more on other things like my speed or alignment. My biggest surprise of my testing was the Double wide coming out of the fringe or fairway it picks the ball so smooth and get it rolling down the path you put it on i think it has to do with the hitting edge but its almost like the putter has a bounce built into it because through all the testing time I never dug it into the ground On-Course (20 out of 20) Like I stated above I did not have a lot of on the course time with the putter but this putter I feel amazing when I’m standing over the ball looking at a 15 footer I no longer think okay just lag this close in my head the only thing I’m thinking of is what club am I hitting next because I’m going to make this that’s how it feels but I do focus on my putt having that confidence has made me actually enjoy putting and starting to practice putting…. putting has always been the worst part of my game and I can say I think that will be changing soon because the confidence and the forgiveness this putter gives me makes me want to go out and practice more. On the practice green from long distance away my 3 putting is almost nonexistent thanks to this putter so as I do not have a lot of data that shows it, I believe it will help my score be lower as I am typical to 3 putt multiple times a round. Honestly when I started this test, I was skeptical I had been doing a lot of research and I was going to buy either a Scotty or a LAB putter looking back now I am so happy because this putter has far exceeded my expectations as far as speed control and forgiveness Odyssey really did an amazing job on this putter! The Good, the bad, the in-between (19 out of 20) This will be short sweet and to the point the putter is amazing with a few draw backs for me personally like the stairstep in the club easily could have been fixed just picking a different model and for me personally I think the grip is to skinny I like the big fat grips but again just picking and installing a new grip on it fixes that The only thing that I can’t fix is the ping when you hit off center…. O WAIT I can fix that just hit the putter in the middle but the technology and advancement going from a Wilson harmonized to the AI-ONE it’s not even close which brings me to……. Play it or Trade it? (20 out of 20) I mean was there ever a doubt if you have been reading this far the AI-ONE is the clear winner here and has defiantly earned a spot in my bag the forgiveness, speed control and tech along with the confidence this putter gives me is just too much to ignore so ole betty (the name of my Wilson) is getting replaced. Conclusion All in all this putter is amazing and you can tell that Odyssey really put the tine in went to work on creating a great product my only issues with the putter were personal ones like the step in the model I got (double wide DB) and the grip being to skinny for me at the beginning there was a issue with the putter being to light but once I got use to that I think there is a reason for it. And the slight ping sound when you hit it off the edges or where the insert meets the club……. I think if you are in the market for a putter don’t overlook the Odyssey AI-one line because not only are they a good-looking putter, but they are ULTRA forgiving and great at getting a consistent speed no matter where on the face you hit it! Popular Post TJ Hall
Introduction Thank you to MGS and Odyssey for this amazing opportunity...super excited to be a part of this test. I live in Virginia and while there are cold days, there are also a number of warmer days to get out on the course. I would consider myself a very streaky putter...have days where I can't miss and others where I have no idea where the ball is going off the putter. Putting is definitely a weakness of my game. Started tracking some stats this year and have averaged 34 putts per round, with a low of 29 and a high of 39 (even had a chip in during this round...). My 3 putt average is 12% (around 2 per round), but feel many of my 2 putts could be reduced. Currently at an 11 handicap, but know improving my putting would help drastically lower this. I have had 3 putters in my 30 years of golf: - Brassmaster: my dad assembled and had for years - Ping Anser 2i: won a set of RH wedges at a junior golf camp (important note, I'm not right handed when it comes to swinging (write/throw right handed, but bat/golf left handed)), the only left handed club in the pro shop was the putter...traded the wedges and $20 for it - TaylorMade Spider Tour Black: current gamer for around 3 years, serves me well sometimes and deserts me others Before being selected for this test, I was thinking about switching putters and was considering the Ping PLD Tyne 4 or an older Odyssey Exo Seven S...just hadn't been able to pull the trigger however Callaway Preowned was pretty enticing! For the test, I chose the AI-One Seven S Putter. I'm looking forward to see how the new technology can improve my putting. Can't wait to get the putter in my hands and start playing with it! First Impressions (15 out of 20) This is a very pretty putter, the blue color scheme works very well...I am generally a black/white/grey kind of person, but I can work with this blue! I might order too many golf clubs...my kids can easily recognize when a new club arrives ("daddy, you have a new club on the porch!"). The blue face around the insert does appear to have some milling on it. The label on the shaft is a large sticker...not sure about that currently, but it is on the underside so it is not a distraction while putting. The lines are very clean and very easy to align the face. I like the shape of the grip (Ai-ONE Pistol), but it seems a little slick to me (reserve final judgement on this until I can play with it some more). The "window" on the bottom of the club is nice, you can see the structure of the face. Cover is secured with a magnet and seems solid, have had problems with magnetic covers before, but do not believe that will be a problem with this one. Only hit a few putts with it this evening, will provide more details in the coming days. Aesthetics (9 out of 10) Blue would not be a color I would normally go to on my own, but it works for this putter. The blue and white are striking...blue is just the right hue. The 7S has multiple lines to help with set-up and alignment...really frames the ball nicely when sitting behind it. The blue finish has held up very well and has no signs of wear at this time. The cover has a magnet to secure it, putter fits very nicely in it and stays secure on the head...does very well to protect the putter (I keep the cover on unless the putter is in use). The Numbers (10 out of 10) Had no issues starting putts on line with this putter. Overall the best putt made was a 55' putt in a 2-man scramble...picked a target 10 feet in front of the ball, rolled directly over my aim point with perfect pace to fall into the cup. Best with my own ball was a 40' putt downhill with 3' break (this coming after a perfect tee shot and thinning a wedge well past the hole)...golf is a funny game, hit the putt and watched it roll perfectly down the hill into the hole. No issues on putts of any direction...uphill, downhill, left to right or right to left. This putter inspires confidence! On-Course (20 out of 20) This putter really shined on the course...I felt in control with every putt I hit. I struggled with my prior gamer with speed control, I had no issues with this putter...lag putts were incredible and generally was left with a short (no pressure) putt to finish up. When I did get a little aggressive with a putt and ran long, making the come-backer was not a problem. I made so many putts with the Ai-ONE that I had people asking what I was playing. It took no time at all to adjust to this putter. The ball rolled incredibly smooth off the face, from both the green and fringe...even hit some putts that I would have chipped previously with great success. This putter was marketed for "finishing closer to the hole"...let me tell you, this was definitely the case! Ai-ONE = Almost In One??? My speed control was incredible with this putter. Even purposely (or not) hitting different parts of the face resulted in consistent distance. If a match came down to a putt that had to be made, I would want this putter in my hands. The Good, Bad and In-Between (19 out of 20) The good: so many things...distance control, feel off the face, grip (after initial period...more below), weighting, color scheme. The bad: took a point off for two reasons...first, the grip felt a little slippery out of the box, but overall was not an issue; second, the giant StrokeLab sticker on the shaft, has not been an issue so far but feel like it could wear over time (NOTE: I have had no issues with wear to date, even using the back of the putter to drag the ball back or move it around). The In-Between: had seen one website that listed a Bi-Matrix shaft, I would likely have chosen this (mainly because I wanted to try this shaft), but even with the steel StrokeLab shaft, the putter performs (maybe the Ai really knows better!). Play It or Trade It (20 out of 20) PLAY IT! Probably doesn't come as a surprise if you have been following my posts throughout the test. I feel more comfortable with this putter in my hands than I have previously...it is almost surprising not to make a putt with this. My putts per round decreased with the Ai-ONE and helped salvage some rounds that were struggling. Considering the price point, this putter should be considered for anyone looking for a new putter. I was skeptical of the technology, but throughout all of the tests run, it performed! I am convinced, there is something to this putter. This putter has won a spot in my bag! Conclusion (TLDR) If you are in the market for a new putter (or struggling with speed/distance control), I recommend giving this putter a shot. Putts roll smoothly from on/off the green and the overall look of the putter is stunning. This putter is not leaving my bag...except to go sink some putts! Popular Post Rob Person
WAAAZZZZUUPPPPPP! My name is "state your name" (anyone remember that skit? Bueller? Bueller? ) First off, thank you MGS and Odyssey for this amazing opportunity. I aim to not let anyone down with this test. I'm in southeast Alabama, and while it gets cold here, there should be ample chances to truly test this putter thoroughly. Being that I have only started playing golf a little over 15 months ago, I hope to prove worthy! I super excited to be testing the AI-one double wide. My current putters are a 25 year old Foremost fzp-1 blade, and a Ray Cook Silver Ray mallet that I bought 6 months ago. I chose this model with hopes that by going with this putter, I can find that sweet middle ground between the 2 that I currently play. And if there is any questions or testing requests, please tag me in them. I intend to use my home rollout putting mat, practice greens, and actually playing rounds for this test. I will be using different types of golf balls as well. (brands tbd) Thanks again! can you tell I'm really excited? Odyssey “AI-ONE DB” Putter: The Journey (final review) Why I chose the DB: Just look at it! Its just so, well…… its sexy looking, and it screams, PUTT ME, PUTT ME, PUTT ME! I was truly in shock and awe when I found out I was selected with the honor of testing out the AI-ONE DB putter. (henceforth to be known as “DB”) I only began my golfing journey in late 2022, and my current putter is a RayCook SR500 mallet putter. My previous putter was a Foremost FZP-1 blade putter. The RayCook was my first mallet putter, and it was definitely an adjustment to learn to putt with. I did spend quite some time deliberating between the DB and the Rossie S models when applying to this test. The Rossie S (spec wise) fell more in line with my arc stroke. But the reason for selecting the DB was simple. I used a blade putter for 8 months, then switched to a mallet putter. The DB profile fits in between the two (double wide blade), and is what I believed I would look for if I was shopping for a new putter. **At the initial release of this test, there were only select/limited stock models available. As of February 1st, 2024 There are now over a dozen models, including new releases, different neck styles, shafts, grips, womens, LH, etc, available on odysseys website** CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL OF THE ODYSSEY AI-ONE PUTTERS AVAILABLE The Unboxing/First Impressions: 20/20 The box was in pristine condition. As I was opening it, the anticipation had my anxiety peaking, and I had never been gentler than I was that day. It was packaged very well and seemed secure in its cardboard holster. Upon removing the DB from its traveling home, I just stood there, mouth agape, admiring it. It was flawless! One of the bonus benefits is Odyssey allowed for some custom build options for this test (more than 8 grip choices, custom lie angle, and shaft length). I opted to alter the stock build configuration, using the shortest shaft length. (I chose a 32” shaft), I also added 1 degree to the lie angle as well. It came with a premium magnetic head cover, in coordinated colors to match the putter. Inside is very plush and seems to protect the finish well on the putter head. The grip at first felt really soft and smooth, but once it warms up in your hands, it begins to get tacky, but not sticky. I really like the feel of it. some specs: The grip is the AI-ONE pistol grip, in a white/blue combo, it comes with a steel SL90 shaft, the head is a navy blue PVD coated finish. Odyssey website states a loft of 3 degrees, 70 degrees lie angle, 20 degrees of toe hang, and a weight of 360 grams. It has the AI designed aluminum insert bonded to a white-hot grooved face. It comes stock with 2, changeable 15 gram weights, inserted into the bottom of the putter. (different weight kits from Odyssey are now available online) Odysseys secret to all of this? the insert itself. Designed and printed by AI to promote the most forgiveness no matter where you contact the face. First Impressions: Aesthetics- 10/10 DB design has clean lines and a smooth finish. Its color pallet blends nicely together. But let’s talk about the showstopper. The AI-ONE clear window at the back of the putter. It was really hard to not just stare at it and lose complete track of time. It’s like looking into the proverbial “window to the soul”. I am not sure it provides any actual performance enhancement, but they crushed it in the visual appeal department for sure! Feel & Sound- 10/10 I took some practice strokes the same day it arrived. The first time using it was nerve racking for me. Was I going to like it? Was I going to struggle with putting even more? Was the weight of the putter and how it balanced in my hands, how it felt during my swing, and how well I could roll a ball, going to affect my already mediocre flat game? I laid a few balls down, and settled in for the adventure.! First Contact! I took a few strokes and hit about 6 balls. The initial contact feel was immediately noticeable. I couldn’t believe how well the ball responded to the face. It didn’t have the “clunk” sound I was accustomed to. (mallet putter equated to hitting a nail with a hammer) The ball pushed off the face with a soft “click” sound. A dozen more strokes and I was dialing in the short distance control rather quickly. The feedback was quite a positive revelation for me, as I now realized I what I had been lacking in my putting. I used several different makes of balls, (from cheap to top of the line), and while some were firmer than others off the face, I was able to distinguish the differences quickly enough to make appropriate pressure adjustments. As a bonus, I was able to use 3 different prototype balls. the Titleist TEST ball, and the Bridgestone Tour B RX/RXS balls. But I tapped any and every type of ball I had on hand !!! The numbers: 10/10 (This is subjective to your stroke style and rolling conditions) Accuracy- I noticed that it was easy with the DB to be able to reproduce similar distance results on 95% of putts rolled. Off center contact is very forgiving most of the time. Distance Control – This was something I personally struggled for a long time with. I can say unequivocally that with the DB, I do not miss that struggle at all! The putter responds to pressure and speed inputs very well. I actually had to reduce the speed and length of my stroke to accommodate for how well this putter interacted. The ball does not come off hot at all, and any major errors in distance control was completely on my error in judgement. This pic displays putts made from 50' away. Stability of Stroke – I have a natural out to in arc to my stroke, so I tend to pull the ball a bit when putting. The DB face has lessened that error, even when repeating the same stroke path. The curve of the bottom of the putter also helps to reduce ground contact issues as well.(dragging the club) Forgiveness – Oh Boy this is amazing!!! I have gained a ton of confidence knowing that if I make a heel or toe strike, the error correction is minimal due to the AI insert technology. While there is a minor difference in sound between center and off center contact, the end results are not egregious. Playability – Uphill putts? Easy peasy. The ball comes off the face smooth, and with no noticeable “Jumping”, even with having to use more firmness behind the putts. Downhill- Lookout! The face creates such a quiet and clean contact with the ball, that it does not take much to get the ball moving at all! On Course- 20/20 I was able to apply testing to the DB, both on the practice areas and on course play. I’ve deployed hundreds of strokes with this putter. As we all know, real green vs artificial can produce varying results. I am fortunate to have several options in this regard. Over the period of this test, I was able to utilize well maintained practice areas at local courses, as well as indoor rollout mats. (see video link at end of review for demonstrsations) I rigorously tested the DB to prove if Odysseys claims of More Forgiveness Across the Face was going to be fact or fiction, and I can assuredly say without a doubt, that these claims are FACT! For indoor testing, I had a few training aids to assist me. 2 rollout mats over 8’ long, a perfect roll device, and a putting mirror. Primarily these were used to test shorter putts and judge my distance control. I also performed center, heel, and toe, contact drills indoors. This allowed me to hear just how it sounds during contact in a controlled environment. I practiced over and over and over using the 2 mats, and the local courses practice areas. Distances varying between 3’ and 50’, from several types of green conditions and different lie positions. Focused putting drills included Center, Heel, and Toe strikes off the putter face. Determinations for each of the tests were also designated for dispersion, ball lag, and using several different brands of balls. I also placed it on several head to head tests against my mallet putter, utilizing the same configurations. On Course play became fun again! Regardless of where I was on the green, I was confident in making putts! Performance-10/10 The Odyssey AI-ONE DB putter performed better than I could have anticipated throughout this test. The learning curve to adapt to this putter was unbelievably quick for me! It feels natural in my hands, and has increased my confidence on the course. Their claims of More Forgiveness hold true in my opinion. With the mallet putter, it took me a lot of time and practice to gain a confident stroke connection with it. I struggled with it for months, and almost always doubted myself on the green. Durability- 18/20 All is not perfect in the world of the DB. After barely 5 days, the PVD finish along the back edge of the putter began rubbing off. I don’t know why this area has been affected. The head cover does not have any issues inside the liner. It has never been dragged across any surface. And while this doesn’t affect the performance of the putter, it definitely raises a concern for questioning the longevity aspect. 20231217_172022_2.mp4 In the bag or in the closet? 19/20 The Odyssey AI-ONE DB putter has earned its place in my bag. Other than the coating finish issue mentioned above, I have zero complaints from the performance of this putter! I suppose the asking price for a premium name brand putter is always going to be a lip biter for most people. This base model starts at $299.00 and is available in stores and directly from the manufacturer. Customization is available for the putter as well. However, options such as grips, shafts, etc, will increase the price. Compared to other major brands out on the market, this pricing seems to place in the middle-upper end. I am not sure if I could justify the cost this early in my golfing experience. Final Score and Conclusion: 97/100 ! This is brand new face insert technology in the field of putter manufacturing. Odyssey boasts loudly and proudly its technology is the best out there, and they are not wrong. Did it stand up to its claims? Absolutely! I have reduced my average number of 3 putts to less than 10%, and increased my 1 putts by 20%. Who doesn’t love to reduce strokes? I don’t have any comparisons to make against any similar high end putters. But I believe that no one will have to think too hard about picking one of these up and keeping it for a long while. From its unique “window to the soul” feature, to the integrated AI Insert technology, I was unable to find any particular facet of this putters capabilities deficient. I would not hesitate to put it to the test against any putter out there! Some things to note: because of this test and how involved I dove into it, I was able to correct several issues I was having. I learned so much more than i was anticipating too. I also never knew there were adjustments and modifications available on putters. I have began to enter that phase now. (more to come!) Popular Post buckpillar
Introduction- First and foremost, Thank you MyGolfSpy for this fantastic opportunity. Testing – Odyssey AI#1 CH with Length 32.75 Loft 1.5* Lie of 72* I’m Jeffrey “Buck” Pillar (AKA- “PUTSO” Pillar) I’m from Southwestern PA and have Been golfing 43yrs, at one point in the early 90's to mid-2000's I was a scratch golfer but now a days I play to a 6-HDCP. I will be testing this putter on course, the backyard putting green, patio and inside the house. I will test and compare the AI#1 CH putter against a Scotty Cameron and an older Odyssey divine line putter. I will complete individual Heel, Toe, and center strike testing, lag putting, off the fringe, ladder testing and breaking putts. I’m hoping that the new Odyssey AI#1 CH putter will sharpen my distance control and dispersion, if it does that it will be in the bag! The excitement this opportunity has brought is next level, being able to review and provide honest feedback for other golfers so they can make an educated decision when trying or buying this putter. I did some research about the putters new AI technology and hope the variable face thickness and the new white insert seem to be exceptional, but I will find that out through my testing. I expect through testing, review and prove what Odyssey is claiming about the new AI technology is true or false. GRADE- 18 out of 20 – Right out the box I was pleasantly surprised, the cosmetics were sleek, color scheme worked well with the shaft and grip combination was nice and the feel was very good. I never had a putter or a regular club with a counter balance weight, this putter feels that it could almost swing itself. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Odyssey AI#1 CH Final Review Specs - 32.75" length, loft of 1.5* and lie of 72* First Impressions (18 out of 20) As I look back, first thoughts about the AI Technology were that this is just another concept to sell more putters, after unboxing and taking a few practice strokes I thought this feels good, better than my old Odyssey that’s in the bag for years. The dark blue matte finish on the head was easy on the eyes and the white alignment marking popped off the putter head and made setting up to the line easy. The STAR of the putter is the AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology, Through the course of testing, the AI technology produces similar ball speed no matter where you strike the ball on the face from heel to toe and top to bottom of the insert, you will get almost the same distance if it wasn’t hit on the sweet spot. I think this new advancement in face technology definitely helped my putting. When you get consistent distance no matter where you hit it on the face will not only help your putting game but mentally provide confidence knowing you’re going to get a reliable and consistent putt every time. a clear window, which allows you to see the AI technology in the new putter heads and how the space age aluminum has been transformed producing consistency across the entire putter face no matter if you hit it on the heel or toe. I think this is just a focal point to show off the technology to your friends after sinking that 30ft birdie putt to go 1 up! The Stroke Lab SL90 shaft is a stepless shaft with minimal if not any flex, I have never had a putter with a Stroke Lab putter shaft and I was very surprised with the quality performance it brings to the putter, I think it helped transfer stroke energy better to the putter head. The grip was of the smaller size, with a firm feel and very little tackiness, works very well with the putter. The blue and white color scheme the putter is sharp and sleek, looks ready to tackle any course it plays. Aesthetics (9 out of 10) I love the shape of AI#1 CH blade putter; the length and height are just a hair smaller than other putters but delivers performance on every putt. The white, lighter blue and silver explode off the dark blue color of the head, you can never go wrong with that color combination. The white alignment line provided a great visual at setup. While at the country club, a few golfers commented on the putter looks and feel, all giving high praise to Odyssey. Sound was not a factor for the Odyssey AI#1 putter, no matter if the putt was off the heel, toe or in the center, I couldn’t tell if there was a noticeable difference. When you could distinguish a difference was when you used different brands of golf balls. You got more of a click when using a Titleist PROV1 compared to a soft spongey thud with a Callaway Supersoft and Taylormade Tour Response was in the middle. The Numbers (10 out of 10) As I began testing, I first noticed the balance and feel of the putter, the weights in the head and the counter balance in the butt end was perfect almost felt as it could swing itself. I felt I was able to hit my selected line and with the AI technology was able to keep the dispersion tight and only have a stray putt once is a great while. During testing at the course, I was able to control distance very well and only had two 3 putts during the ladder test that included over . The Center strike test averaged was 2 ½ inches beyond each measurement, now here is where I became intrigued with this putter, testing hits heel and toe strikes from the same distance. The Heel test averaged was around 3 inches shorter than the center strike, but when on line it would have hit the bottom of the cup. The heel hits felt very similar to the center strikes, they did not feel like you had to help it to the hole, or getting a heavy feel like you would with other putters. The Toe Test averaged was about 3 ½ inches short of the center strike, I realized that normally with toe strikes the putter would want to twist away from your line, not with the AI#1, when hit on the toe, this putter generates the same energy as center strikes without having the feeling of any twisting, kept the putt on line and almost identical distance to the center strike. 15 Feet (180 inches) Center strikes – 182 ¼” Heel – 179 ¾” Toe – 179 3/8” (3”-inch average difference between center and off center strikes from 15 feet) 20 Feet (240 inches) Center strikes – 242 ½” Heel – 238 ¾” Toe – 237 ¾” (4 ¾”-inch average difference between center and off center strikes from 20 feet) The putter felt firm but soft giving you feedback at impact, so smooth, good sound and the distance was great. The repeatable performance, it gave me a sense that if I wanted to hit it 10 feet it would go 11 feet. Basically, giving you a better chance of holing the putt. On-Course (20 out of 20) During testing I tried any kind of putt you can imagine, from straight up hill, downhill, left to right and right to left breakers, from the fringe you name it I did it. At times I would think I needed to hole a 4-foot downhill left to right breaker to win the MASTERS, let me tell you that the AI#1 CH gave me confidence to make the putt, I relied on what I found out during my testing which gave me a mental calmness because of the putter performance to make the putt. Well, this time I did make it but from longer distances if I did miss it was not the putter’s fault, I was able to keep it on the line I wanted and control was perfect. More than likely, it came down to a miss read. I found that during the course of a round that I would gain 1.72 strokes for 18 holes from the data I recorded during testing. The Good, the bad, the in between (18 out of 20) The Good- Balance, feel, distance control, sound, performance, looks and setup. The Bad – I really don’t have anything bad to say about this putter. The in Between - Make the AI technology slightly wider and taller, continue the visual site line onto the top edge of the putter and stamp the gram weight on the heel toe inserts Play it or trade it? (20 out of 20) I wouldn’t think twice if I had to use the putter in a pressure packed moment. I definitely would be playing it in all situations. The putter did improve my putting and helped my mental side of the game, when put in the stressful spots it gave me confidence knowing that the reliability is there and to just make the stroke. Price, wise it falls in line with all other top brands, but you are getting more for your money by purchasing the AI#1 putter, this putter is suited for anyone from beginner to the best player in the world. Conclusion The new AI#1 CH putter is a keeper and will be for a long time. I really don’t see any other brands in the rearview mirror of this putter, the technology is that far advanced at this moment, quality, looks and most of all the performance it delivers, will benefit any golfer who puts it in play. I highly recommend this putter, Would I put the AI#1 CH putter in play… You bet your sweet ass I would!! Final Score (95 out of 100) Thank to MyGolfSpy for the opportunity to test this putter and Thank you for all the hard work in the background to make everything run like a putt rolling across the 72nd hole to win the MASTERS. I appreciate you all!! fixyurdivot
I am totally blaming my association with MGS for this illness. This started in 2018 and, there appears to be no cure. Like a moth to a flame, we had our first "Demo Day" and guess who attended? My mission was two-fold; first was to see how the new Srixon ZX5 and ZX7 MKII compared to my current ZX5's, and second try some low spin design drivers and see if any offered lower spin for me. The verdict from the Srixon fitter "keep what you're playing, wouldn't change anything". As for the driver, the G430 Max with the Ping Tour 75 did offer about 7 yards in distance. But... but... that's not what I really wanted to share. While strolling my way down to the Callaway tent, look what I stumbled into . Just a little appetizer to help tie us over .
