Go-To Drink - On Course

Welll my thoughts are out there! But I will say for an after round beverage rum and ginger ale. During a round I love electrolytes specifically jocko hydrate!

Here is a good article that focuses on golf course hydration that might be helpful. 

The trees are a better alternative than many of the actual bathrooms I’ve seen!

Played many times with someone who would walk to the first tee, pipe one down the middle, state “there it is boys” and crack open a nice cold Coors Light.

Down here In “ Elderly World “ … on course drinks are frozen protein in an electrolyte beverage. During intensely hot and /or high effort days; always have a cooled protein shot pouch to go to. After the round a rousing  glass ( styrofoam cup ) of ice tea is the drink of choice to celebrate with.

Ok this is fun. I don’t like to drink alcohol when I play golf. If it’s a scramble I’ll have a couple beers or a bloody but that’s sparingly. 
 

If it’s a crack of dawn round I’m bringing an XL black hot coffee and a Large iced with cream and sugar. Something about the cubes catching sugar crystals at the end tastes so good. 
 

If it’s a PM round it’s a large McDonalds Diet Coke. I call it my John Daly meal. I’m sure some of you are rolling your eyes and that’s Ok. It works for me and my bloodwork is in a very healthy range 😊

When it’s a super casual round, my swing juice consists of either a light beer, IPA, or gin and white soda. But, I’ll always have water and a body armor on standby.

I play poorly if drinking alcohol of any type. If I need a boost in the morning it’s a cold Mountain Dew. During the round its Gatorade. If I’m in a scramble I wait until hole 15. Then it’s either Peach Moonshine with half sweet tea and half lemonade or Blackberry Moonshine with black-cherry lemonade.

For those that were at Pinehurst they know how good the Blackberry Moonshine concoction was.

It takes a couple holes to kick in. Then I only really need to focus harder on the last hole. 
But if it’s a shotgun start I could get confused and start sooner.🤣

I usually drink water and isotonic drinks. Don't care much about the brand, but if I had to choose, Powerade is my go-to.

Also, while I'm out there at the course, I never really feel hungry. It's kinda weird. I keep reminding myself to grab some fruit or snack on a protein bar if I want to finish the back 9. Am I the only one?

I'm a big water drinker - Swiss course have fresh mountain water fountains all over and Switzerland is known for incredible fresh drinking water so it's free and is refreshing. No need for me to do much else.

Not a big drinker in terms of alcohol on the course. Maybe the odd beer, but that's about it.

On the course—before on hot days, I’d do coke (coca-cola—golfing and tweaking don’t mix😉) and lots of ice. I like a good watered-down sugar drink. Nowadays, it’s just water.

Off the course—that Transfusion looked de-lish, I will definitely try that this summer. But really, I don’t drink anything. I’m a bit of a bore.

My real drink now is just water too.

This topic throws up a childhood memory of golf though. As a juvenile member we used to head back into the clubhouse after a competition and get a pint glass of a mix of Coke and Blackcurrant with ice.

Usually, Gatorade or water is my go-to. Living in Florida, in the hot summer months, anything cold is always the best. 

If I am completely having a bad first 9, beer (or liquid courage) is my caddie.

I have been a water drinker on the golf course for decades, but the coolers have been removed from most, if not all of the golf courses around here because of bacterial infections that were contracted from drinking that golf course water, and the ensuing lawsuits.  Until I discovered Biolyte, which is absolutely the best electrolyte replacement drink, IMO, I would carry two large bottles of water that I had left in the freezer overnight when the summer temperatures got above 80*-90* F.  Now, it's one or two 20 oz. bottles of Biolyte, one of which will have a shot of GoLow "golfer's advantage drink mixed-in.  I'm not so sure about the "unfair advantage" part, but it has amino acids, ginseng, hops, and just a small amount of caffeine in the 2.3 oz. bottle.

The best part about drinking Biolyte instead of water is that Biolyte almost completely eliminates the potential for getting muscle cramps on the course of after the round is completed. I always walk the course, even those that have lots of hills and steep slopes, and calf/hamstring cramps have become all too common for me at night after walking a challenging course with lots of elevation changes.
