I'm fairly new to the game of golf and have found that I can't hit my wedges consistently, so I took all of them out of my bag except my gap wedge and just take a light swing around the green with it..anybody else have this problem?PXL_20240215_212559012.jpg.b88973844343d4563b23e14d551d3428.jpg

Sweet!

What made you go with PXG over other possible brands?

I started with second hand TaylorMade RBZ irons and an 0211 PXG driver bc it was affordable..loved the driver and didn't see a lot of PXG on my local course, so I bought the xcore2 irons but after swinging the sim2 driver, I did finally give up my 0211 driver

Fantastic! It is funny how easy it is to catch the golfing bug and then you get hooked.

Welcome!

Love the eagle head cover!

I actually left my wedges at home 1 day so I had to play a different type of game the I was use to and learned a few new shots so worth trying.

Welcome. When I first started out I had top flite clubs and no wedges to speak of except the obligatory pitching wedge. Then I got hand me down wedges which were great to use when I learned how to hit proper wedge shots.

PXG 5 and 7 woods with Mitsubishi Diamana Shafts

Mizuno Pro 225 5-GW with Dynamic Gold S300 shafts

I've gotten pretty good at the bump and run and putting from the fringe but the 30-40 yard shots are killing me.. Id rather be 160 out than 40 from the green

During my escapade of forgetting clubs I grabbed my 4 hybrid. Hit it just like a long putt or a bump and run. It was actually really enjoyable to play that way. you know the ball is going and it wont be shanked so gives you some confidence but distance is a tough tell

Welcome to the site!  What wedges do you have, and what issues are you experiencing?

I had alot of problems with my wedges at first. Sand wedge was the worst for me (still is, unless it's a full swing shot)

Depending on the shot you are using for it, I would recommend practicing and trying different techniques.

I spend alot of time trying different grip positions, stance changes,  ball positions,  shaft leans,  etc.  Once you can commit them to muscle memory, they can be a great benefit.

WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter.

Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time.

I've recently picked up the book

"3 Releases: The Short Game System by Daniel Grieve"

and this has helped me tremendously lately with everything 90 yards and in. Nice and clean explanations, the book is not to long to read through and Dan shows his technique also on his Youtube channel:

Dan's (currently latest) video here gives already quite some details about his system:

I would still recommend to get the book (at least I learn better when I read), although you could probably puzzle together most of the contents by just watching all of his videos.

Have a tm mg3 56 and a Nike 60, both standard length.. Might be my problem.. Ordered my irons +1" bc of my height but just can't seem to get a consistent flush hit with anything but a pitching wedge and a gap

I think it can be a great idea to just carry 1 wedge and get really good with hitting a variety of shots with it. Get comfortable with full shots, wedge matrix, and chipping. Once you have that down you could always add another one in the bag. Who cares about the number of clubs in your bag if some of them are costing you shots or enjoyment.
