Motocaddy M7 Remote Electric Trolley / Motocaddy Pro Series Golf Bag / Accessories Kit Unboxing & Set-Up

Well looked what arrived today, although not too long considering it originated in California.

IMG_5391.jpg.6692ba7003ed1486adc0491a14be987e.jpg

Each item individually packaged and shipped, and I will provide details as I opened them up, and then put the whole package together for use.

First small box contained the accessories Motocaddy provided with these trolleys. Detailed information on each of them installed onto the trolley later in this post.

Accessories Provided to the Testers for the trolleys

Pro Series Bag Unboxing & Comments

The packaging of the box the bag arrived in was very well protected, and the bag itself wrapped in a large plastic bag to keep it clean and free from dirt or damage during shipping.

One thing I noted, and thought was an important fact was the attention to the smallest detail in the packaging of all of the items.

The bag being wrapped in a plastic bag, that was easily untied so if one wanted or need to do so, could put it back in the plastic bag and secure it again.

Even the small items were all packaged in resealable plastic bags, so when not in use or put into storage, they also could be put back in original packaging to keep them free from dirt or debris.

IMG_5393.jpg.2b191afb4879a38f4aacc80042eff66e.jpgIMG_5394.jpg.0a4727d72ddd9d99f7930ff8ae726ff4.jpgIMG_5396.jpg.2df610127120c9a0d5f9305e18e85cf2.jpg

One reason I went with this bag, is you are not supposed to use the Motocaddy in wet weather conditions, and I didn't think getting a waterproof bag was required if I will not use the trolley in heavy rainy conditions.

Bag is 14 way top, appears to be full length dividers.

IMG_5399.jpg.5dcdb9bdf93591991da0e5120b82016b.jpg

Left hand side view.

Note the 2 full size pockets, smaller valuables pocket and umbrella holder slot.

Lower left is a scorecard holder, which may also hold a can or bottle, but it is not insulated.

Premium materials throughout the bag.

IMG_5398.jpg.83cb6fd15fdea2585a8a4af8c41f759c.jpg

Rear facing pockets when mounted on a cart or trolley.

3 large pockets. Ball pocket on the bottom, large sized middle pocket for tees, gloves, etc. whatever one would like to store there. Top pocket fits a rangefinder or could be used for additional storage if one doesn't use a rangefinder. Very top feature is a cart pass through strap, and protects the upper area of the bag from any cart strap rubbing.

IMG_5400.jpg.dfba601a34397c802294a09782a1b555.jpg

Right hand side of the bag has a pencil or pen holder, an insulated small beverage holder, and on this side is a tube which also could be used for putter storage if one decides to utilize that feature.

Bottom of the bag, and Motocaddy "Locking Pin" features.

The pins screw into the bottom of the bag, and fit into slots or locking locations on the lower stand/base of the trolley.

I noticed that the bottom of the bag also has some "cutouts" which also fit directly over the lower stand/base, so even without the pins installed there is minimal twisting of the bag on the base when only secured by the top strap.

@Northern Monkey I know that both my Ghost Bag and Sun Moutain Bag do not have this "cut-out" section on the bottoms but they would fit onto the stand/base of the trolley.

I will need to measure the length of the pins, and then the depth of the bottom of those bags to see if they may be retained on the trolley using the Motocaddy set-up. Can do that later and will report out my findings.

Motocaddy M7 Remote Trolley Unboxing & Comments

IMG_5415.jpg.4f1995c572135fcb76eceff33f877388.jpg

Only concern I had initially was a broken "handle" on the box, but knowing that it was bulky and heavy, and handled by many during transport, not an unusual thing based on previous experience with shipping items for work.

IMG_5414.jpg.8d4619ea5b844941142c6333c4d6b576.jpg

Again, packaging very robust to ensure product protection during transport.

And a friendly reminder to "Read the Directions" to ease both assembly and use.

IMG_5416.jpg.86569f54bd6857f1987b429db4d18ad9.jpgIMG_5419.jpg.0a858c32440981f726952cf709d2280f.jpgIMG_5420.jpg.b6d8179829cf9e2c039e1abc0d4796dc.jpgIMG_5417.jpg.18d0da68657150c3ad7057304f18da7e.jpg

The layout of the packaging in the large box is the trolley across the center and left hand side. Wheels in the center around the trolley, and the upper right corner is the "wheelie wheel" and the lower right corner contains the instruction manual, remote, and lower bag retaining straps. The battery and charger were in the box in the right center of the big box.

Battery - more details later.

IMG_5421.jpg.a7b2ed9ef7d4988bd4accd072d24f0c4.jpg

Initial instructions - thought these were worth sharing if anyone would be considering getting one of these.

IMG_5426.jpg.2fc6ff30e31b272ed01dbd2ee57268c8.jpgIMG_5427.jpg.dd9fc6c8bbd61c1d8a18436f0c381861.jpg

Trolley Assembly & Set-Up

IMG_5423.jpg.9422643fbe05a1cd516f73a9dbb363b5.jpg

I am showing the INVERTED wheel position below first, for either storage or transportation, as it reduces the width of the trolley.

Second picture shows proper installation for using the trolley.

Third picture shows my thumb pushing down on a tab on the wheel to ensure they go onto the spindle and then lock into place when installed.

IMG_5428.jpg.c8f6be197f803479b7d53d24afdae221.jpg

Note the gray/silver colored lever towards the front of the trolley, loosening this lever allows you to move the top portion of the handle into the up position.

IMG_5434.jpg.616754448cf45aa0371947aa4280059a.jpg

Next step is to install the "Wheelie Wheel" and this picture shows all wheels in proper position for use.

Note the gray/silver colored horseshoe shaped lever in this picture, loosening this lever allows you to raise the lower handle into the up position, so then the trolley will be erect and upright.IMG_5444.jpg.6d3597e4e5699882f8c265cb9fbb93cd.jpgIMG_5447.jpg.dcc5d937b884532500fcf89c78a0346d.jpg

This picture shows the lower base/stand and the locating holes for the Motocaddy Easilock pins to fit into. This allows one to use the Motocaddy bag without any lower retaining strap and no movement of the bag on the trolley.

IMG_5453.jpg.c56189b7d28908d4de247af85c54c8bb.jpg

Battery Installation

IMG_5454.jpg.e2f81e6879f9e36773aecc5390016fa6.jpgIMG_5455.jpg.0a75dba062430d1c51deb2acbb6cba53.jpg

Note there is a "slot" in the lower area of the battery, and also a "wall" in the base of the trolley this slot fits over to ensure proper installation.

IMG_5456.jpg.e672410ef0448bdd2c468fee2df83e4c.jpgIMG_5459.jpg.3215a66c4799a476abeb2600187a579a.jpg

Connect the plug from the battery to the outlet for the motor and the trolley is ready to function.

Next step place cart on trolley and secure with upper retaining strap. One feature I noticed and liked, it that there is a nylon strap around the elastic strap so you can use that to pull it without any worries of potentially getting your hand or fingers pinched.

IMG_5462.jpg.86df94a6af2f8b6232852b28d19620e9.jpg

Accessories Installation

IMG_5463.jpg.8cd5ca972f92ef2495e7f9c4afe957f7.jpgIMG_5464.jpg.b39139fa77216dddc7d0795f6a087668.jpg

The accessories provided all mount to this bracket which comes on the trolley.

One feature that stood out for again showing attention to detail is that there were serrations on both the bracket and the accessory mounting interface to ensure they stayed intact and in the position you set them in initially.

IMG_5465.jpg.67e3f1f8569ed7803cacc04e4b5df1ed.jpgIMG_5468.jpg.b0fc286822a4eaae00970b757c039e40.jpgIMG_5469.jpg.eea95b02d869e8d0d818b49aa7e370f4.jpgIMG_5470.jpg.b1d6b2200a6e816b1eec8c4e346436cf.jpg

IMG_5471.jpg.1dd7647d0dd66435859a7fc0a3028aaa.jpg

The large drink holder has a slot molded into it, and it fits over a molded "button" on the knob which attaches the umbrella holder to the trolley.

IMG_5474.jpg.c21fa6c23a63be82a86fb83850d6f070.jpgIMG_5476.jpg.f1e5a492916c853379e2ddc1e7c3df32.jpg

This comes in 2 pieces with directions. One thing to note is this is a ball and socket type joint, and feel free to loosen the knob as much as needed to allow the ball to fit into the opening before tightening it back up to secure the pieces together.

IMG_5477.jpg.30a052107a1a879639a1cf30c79537e2.jpg

This accessory will hold your cellphone in the horizontal position. It mounts to the trolley's accessory bracket, but you need to remove a blank piece initially installed by pushing down on the retainer and moving the piece towards the handle to remove, and installation is in reverse order.

Hope this provides some answers to initial questions some may have about these products and hoping that the weather here isn't as bad as the forecast for the next 3 or 4 days is, so I can get some pictures and video of it in action.

If the weather is too poor to play, I will do some more looking into can the Easilock Pins be used on other bags, and how does it all fit into a vehicle's trunk for transport back and forth to a course.

Feel free to fire away with any questions of concerns!

@GolfSpy SAM I purchased a Joby Gorillapod and phone/camera mount so I am hoping to get some cool video shots of it in action.

@rkj427 great pics!!! Looks like a beautiful day for it too; I’m jealous 😪. I found it interesting that yours came with instructions, mine with a QR code. At any rate she looks good. My Ask Echo bag has the slots and cut outs for the quick disconnect system. I thought that was cool of Ask Echo. Can’t wait to compare notes during testing. @StrokerAce any updates on your arrival? How’s your spousal unit doing? G*D bless you and yours! Spies, I updated my review post with some first impression data. The link is in my signature for easy access. Happy Birdie Hunting!!!

Hi again spies. I don’t have a car, I have a Tacoma. Here’s some pics of the cart aka Molly in the back seat.

IMG_4973.jpeg.e9efeff6abc29c6bbeae7df0fb7074bc.jpeg

Here are some measurements.
IMG_4974.jpeg.e50ead4431ac0ee8551f3127d1069f4c.jpeg

When it’s folded it’s just about 20” tall at it’s highest point.

IMG_4975.jpeg.12fb8fec14bc8a1ad20bd0113e271c5a.jpeg
It’s 26” long from the edge of the wheel to the edge of the cart. Taking the wheels off and wheelie wheel out will take off about 2 more inches of length.IMG_4977.jpeg.92ee59d126ccab65117e9cc397fcb797.jpeg

With the wheels inverted the width is 19”, with them set in the running position the cart is 22” wide. This is for the M1 DHC Electric Trolly model. Hope this helps.

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.

For any of the testers, I would love to see how much space it takes up in the trunk of your car. It looks like a small tank! 🙂

OK, I did some more measuring and seeing how everything would fit into the trunk of a couple of vehicles.

Pardon the dirty cars, Mother Nature has had it raining every other day here for a while now.

M7 Remote Trolley Measurements - Folded Position

IMG_5490.jpg.13d6105d04d48d279821c5f4de0f3664.jpg

Wheels in "operating" position - Overall Width is about 27 1/2" or 69.85 Cm

IMG_5493.jpg.5b5475d80e4a56156b29654010e3db79.jpg

Wheels in "Inverted" position - Overall Width is about 18 1/2" or 47 Cm

IMG_5495.jpg.753b54dfa0e7f8c8ce97ee6515156e37.jpg

Overall Length Folded Position is about 28 1/2" or 72.4 Cm

Overall Height Folded Position & Accessories Moved to Lowest Position is about 19" or 48.26 CM

IMG_5497.jpg.66a143175aceb8a9aa2ac276adf7fef8.jpg

This model weighs about 30 pounds or 13.6 Kg - easiest to move or maneuver if you grab it by one end of the trolley handle and bar

Mid-Sized Vehicle Trunk Fit

2021 Lexus ES 350 has 13.9 cubic feet of trunk space, which is enough room for shopping bags, skis, or fishing gear. Some say the trunk can fit two to three golf bags. However, the rear seats don't fold down, so you won't be able to load longer items.

IMG_5489.jpg.740e5acca5231efe846c6aae685e04ac.jpgIMG_5498.jpg.8c91d96cf9404e0266ce48fd43f5319f.jpgIMG_5501.jpg.6b73638a2d0160740032de3ccae53e16.jpg

NOTE: I prefer to use the putter slot in the bag rather than the putter well that is on the outside of the bag. I do not have a large putter grip, and when I placed my putter in the outside well it moved around more than I was comfortable with. If you have a larger putter grip, you may find the outside well better for your use.

IMG_5502.jpg.09104446f344d1d5414c415e85b1a831.jpg

Motocaddy Trolley and bag fit easily into this trunk. Actually, was able to add a second bag too, and that picture is below.

Two Seat Sports Car Trunk Fit

I have a couple of Corvette convertibles and tried to show in the possibility of getting the trolley to fit into the truck area. I used the largest sized trunk, similar in total space to the mid-sized car, but not as much depth.

According to Chevrolet, 2013 C6 Corvette convertible with power-top has trunk space:

-- 10.5 cu ft top up

-- 5.1 cu ft top down

-- car dimensions 174.6 x 72.6 x 49.1 inches

By comparison, a 2003 C5 Corvette convertible shown:

-- 13.5 cu ft top up

-- 10.8 cu ft top down

-- car dimensions 179.7 x 73.6 x 47.7 inches

Trolley is too tall to close the trunk, although I can get 2 golf bags in either of the convertibles with the tops in the up position.

Looks like the sizes are very similar. Wonder what @StrokerAce comes up with…I’m betting he gets similar results.

Heck of a day spies. First 18 with Molly the Motocaddy. Here’s a short of the caddy. Sorry for the voices. I’ll try to mute next time.

Here are some stills.

I also am sharing my score from the tournament as I feel that it is relevant to using the cart. A little high, but considering I triple bogeyed the first hole because I had an unhittable lie and penalty and the pressure of the tournament I’m not too upset. The walk was nice and I don’t think it affected my play at all. I played better on the back.

Great update. Did you find any difference as to how fatigued you felt after the round compared to using a standard push cart?
Does Molly stay in a straight line when not guided or does she have a tendency to pull to one side?

Good questions! Absolutely way less fatigue with this and any other electric cart than with a push cart. I have several push carts and although they’re light, they still have weight. Add in a standard bag and you’re looking at 30-40 LBS or 14-18 KG. That doesn’t sound like much but you also have friction from the cart wheels on the terrain and hills. Walking 18 holes is an average of 4 miles. With an electric cart, all of the above mentioned is negated. The cart does all the work and you just enjoy the walk.

Motocaddy has instructions for adjusting the front wheel to make the cart track straight. Molly is tracking pretty straight as is, but I may need to adjust a little down the road.

I thought it would be a bit of an issue with Molly not having a remote, but actually it wasn’t an issue at all. I found that resting my hands on the handle helped mitigate shoulder fatigue. Who’d of thought? Hope this answers your questions! More to come…

Have a great round! I used 5 the majority of the time yesterday. It was a brisk walk at 5 for me. 4 was a normal pace for my stride, but I was the only walker in my group so I walked faster to keep up. 6 for the cart I have was too fast, basically a slow jog. 7 would put me in a full jog.

I asked as my Motocaddy has a tendency to pull left, even after adjusting the front wheel so was wondering if it was just mine or a common issue.

I have had to adjust the front wheels on my Motocaddy M7 Remote caddy AT LEAST 20 times over the last year of ownership. After adjusting, the Motocaddy tracks straight for about 2 or 3 rounds before it starts veering to the right (ALWAYS to the right).

As of now, this one is tracking. Granted this is my first round. We’ll see what happens after my second round and so forth. Motocaddy did say that the weight of the bag could affect the alignment with the cart.

Mines an M7 too and exactly the same issue as yours but pulls left. It seems to be that the small circular adjusters don’t stay in place and end up rotating. I have thought about adjusting so it tracks true then gluing in place but haven’t had the bottle to do it yet

Fingers crossed yours runs true. It’s not a major issue with the M7 as you can just use the remote to correct it but it is a little annoying

Thought I would add this to see if it may help @funkyjudge and @Northern Monkey or anyone else with a Motocaddy that may be experiencing the same "pulling" or alignment concerns.

As mentioned, how the bag is packed may also contribute, and I tend to be a minimalist when keeping anything more than needed for a round in the bag so that isn't relevant in my case.

I also checked the Motocaddy motor function, and it appears that it will bias torque, meaning the wheel with the most traction will get the most power output, or you can stop one wheel and the other side will still turn.

Much like a motor vehicle when making a turn does.

Motocaddy Alignment & Motor Trimming Information from the M7 manual below.

@funkyjudge possibly the motor trimming information may be relevant to your issue?

Alignment.jpg.2d67f4d14c9870e18a84871edc1af0cb.jpgtrimming.jpg.c76fa8562bc507945278ee60afa48f6a.jpg

Although I haven't had mine on a course yet due to weather, when I did initial set-up and assembly, I also checked it for operation at the house.

Motocaddy recommends a flat level surface to check any alignment issues.

Flattest part of my yard is on the side of the house, yet it is also slanted away from the house towards the street about 18" or 46 Cm as the sub is on the downside of a hill.

IMG_5508.jpg.6ec24e5cb6c7a18c4e22fe54e681f417.jpg

I ended up checking it on what I thought was the flattest, most level part on the street around the court I live on, and it appeared to track straight, at least in this area.

Any "pulling" or drifting from straight would be easily explained by the non-level surface it was running on and is easily corrected.

I have had to adjust the front wheels on my Motocaddy M7 Remote caddy AT LEAST 20 times over the last year of ownership. After adjusting, the Motocaddy tracks straight for about 2 or 3 rounds before it starts veering to the right (ALWAYS to the right).

Does the distribution of weight in the bag from clubs and accessories have anything to do with it causing wheel alignment bias?

Looking like the rain here lasts through Tuesday of next week, so planning to get it out next Wednesday and Thursday for its maiden voyage.

That is the exact procedure that I use every time that I adjust the front wheels.  It lasts for about a week (2 or 3 rounds of golf) and then they always go back out of alignment ... and ALWAYS to the right.

I doubt it.  I use a 14-slot carry bag and the weight both in the club area and the outer pockets is very evenly distributed.

Just got off the course and am liking Molly more each round. Hell if I can shoot like this every round I’m sold!IMG_5026.jpeg.4732beb8b449ce7598840105b837ba83.jpeg

Yeah, I know…I can shoot that in a cart. But honestly I’m not tired. I added a video. Part of it was from the other video.

My buddy is playing my Alphard cart but I’m happier with the motocaddy. It’s easier to handle and store. Mind you the Alphard does have a remote and is a great cart, but the motocaddy folds into one piece, the Alphard is the motor and the cart. More to come!!! Have a great evening!

Maybe I missed ot and this was answered in the past 7 pages, but have you found yourselves having to rearrange your club positions for better access on the cart??

@Rob Person the bag provided is a "cart bag" style and it fits on the Motocaddy in the same way it would fit onto a motorized riding cart.

Even when I used my ClicGear pushcart, these types of bags held the clubs in positions where they were easily accessed.

Woods are towards the handle, and no issues getting them in or out.
