  1. I don’t think you’re a bad guy at all. Your score reflects the fact that it took an extra week for you to get past the plateau. Had my review been posted yesterday, as I intended, it would have been 87. Today convinced me that I had that additional 2-3 percent which made it 90/100 or as advertised. We could all just as easily say, “ incomplete.” How are we to know if 14 weeks is permanent as SuoerSpeed states? Why would we stop knowing there might be a few more mph to gain? I’m trying to go for the full 70 plus weeks. Why not? I want that 100 mph so bad I can taste it. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  3. 1st workout of week 4 this morning. High Max swing speed was 114, which matched the top Step-thru swing of week 1. I received the updated protocol schedule from SS which, so another couple of weeks on the starter protocol before I have to figure out kneeling swings. So far I've been able to use my patio for workouts. That won't have to change until protocol 3 and taking multiple steps into the swing. I didn't check my radar device while hitting a ball until this past weekend and after 3 weeks of SS training I was at 103 avg. I did my initial driver speed measurement on the patio with no ball. That gave me a max of 95. The device guide says swinging with no ball produces a slower swing, so even if my swing to ball speed was a bit higher, I'm looking like a 4-5% gain already. Using this in conjunction with other workouts and another swing training aid at the range has me pretty optimistic for the start of league season in the spring.

    Happy thread

Had an MRI of my shoulder today. Good news is that there is nothing that will need surgery, doesn't mean it isn't agonising, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Next stage is probably a cortisone injection which should get things settled quickly. Hopefully I will be back on the course in the near future. The timing has been atrocious, by Wednesday my new bag will be complete, with only my putter remaining.

  6. Nicely done. So, am I going to be the bad guy with the low score of a 70? If I had to write my stage 2 before the week 14 test it would have been in the 80-90 range, but that 1mph drop totally got me. Living in Wisconsin I also had to lower the score since not everyone will have ceilings high enough to swing during the winter months. I took last week off as I was traveling for work. Did my first session of Level 3 today and just for fun I swung my driver a few times without placing a ball down after the workout. My first full swing with the driver came in at 115, a full 5 mph over my average speed at the end of Stage 2. I really wish I could get outside to test this out a little more. I also did a half swing that came in at 113 mph versus my 115 full swing. Guess I won't have to worry about the Kinematic ASD in week 20. So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

  7. Some pictures from the front 9 today at Blue Heron in Carnation, WA. This course sits at the base of the Cascade mountains and runs right along the Snoqualmie river. They usually have the back 9 closed due to flooding from the river. The scenery out there is gorgeous. It’s never busy. It’s $20 a round. And today the weather was 60° and sunny. You just couldn’t pass it up! It was a great place to go practice my new swing touch ups from my lesson earlier this morning. Flattening out backswing a bit and staying shallow on my follow through. 8. Stage 2 Review - SuperSpeed Golf By RevKev INTRODUCTION On paper this should be a very simple review. The data mam, just the data and nothing but the data. That sums up the My Golf Spy's mantra. So SuperSpeed Golf makes a claim on its website and eight of us were selected to test it; the claim is this: 5% driver swing speed gain after 6 weeks of using their program with a 2-3% gain over and above that all permanently locked into place at the end of another 8 weeks for a total of 14 weeks of workouts. That's 7% to 8% in driver swing speed increase in a little over three months of following their prescribed protocols three times per week. So here's the data that I collected for that time period (plus a bonus week as I have already completed week 15, starting level 3) superspeed golf.xlsx As you can see my starting average driver swing speed was 91 using the radar device that SuperSpeed Golf provided. This average was based on 5 drives hit on the range just prior to beginning the level one protocols. It should be noted that in addition to testing the SuperSpeed Golf system for the My Golf Spy community we are also testing a new ordering of the protocols by SuperSpeed that aren't up on the website yet as of this writing. Based on a starting swing speed of 91 mph I should have anticipated a level one swing speed gain of 4.5 miles per hour. Remarkably that is exactly what I got although for some reason I tacked on an additional 1/2 mile per hour when I averaged things out for the start of level 2. During that eight week segment I was expecting a 2-3 mph gain and I got a 2 mile per hour gain. 91 to 98 equals 7 mph or exactly what SuperSpeed Golf promised, 90/100, product performs as expected, game over! Product performs as promised, there's your review. But not so fast because it wasn't quite as easy as it sounds. For starters this was a process that included jumps in swing speeds, stalls in swing speeds and even a step back for a while. Workouts were performed in heat indexes of over 100 when we started in September, to cool evenings with the sun setting, to rain, through a nasty head cold and the business of the Christmas Season for this Senior Pastor of a fairly large Church and School. Here are some pictures to help tell that story and perhaps encourage you to read the rest of the review so that you might determine if the SuperSpeed Golf training system is right for you. When we started the MLB pennant races were in the home stretch. My daughter had this great moment at Tropicana Field: The playoffs ran their course, for folks living up North the weather got cooler, for us,, in Florida, it got bearable and for all of us the days got shorter and with Halloween came a goolish grandson in his costume: As if that weren't enough days got shorter still, daylight savings time ended making late afternoon workouts tough, others faced snow and cold. It's hard to describe how busy the month of December is in a large church but that's what I faced as I struggled to get my workouts in during daylight hours. No, I have never swung a club inside of that church! PHYSICAL PRODUCT: 17/20 I rotated this picture of the sticks so that you could see that they look like new. They have worn well, the grips have endured well over 1,000 swings with almost no sign of wear and the red club acts as a prop for the all important dynamic warm up. So why take off points? Because they don't come with a carrying case. As you can see in the center of my picture there are hazards in my house. You saw two more significant hazards for golf equipment in my earlier pictures, 400 lb. power wheel chairs and grandsons pose threats to golf clubs, as does travel. I had to transport my sticks without my clubs on a family trip in order to get a workout in. Not having a traveling case was a bit of a bother, not major but something to think about, perhaps an additional cost for some. At home I store the green and the blue with my back up set, the red always stays in my primary bag as it comes with to the course for that warm up! PROGRAM 16/20 In the intro I tried to communicate that while not overly time consuming the SuperSpeed Golf system is not necessarily as simple as the website makes it sound. Like any program of value it takes a commitment on the part of the user. If you are going to purchase you need to be prepared to put in the work. Once you get used to the protocols and have the warm up down pat it will take between 30 to 45 minutes three days per week. I've never done workouts on back to back days so some of that takes planning. Since the full program is 72 weeks long you must take into account that there will be varying amounts of day light and differing weather conditions to contend with. Some may even need to plan for an adequate indoor space in which to do workouts. In Florida that is not necessary but it does rain here and creativity may be required to work through those conditions: After a few weeks I was able to set up a very nice workout station using the grill in my backyard: I have to say that the SuperSpeed Golf customer service is off the charts. They promise to deliver this level of service to anyone who purchases their product and I believe them. Still it would be important to be a part of a community if you plan to take SuperSpeed on. We'd be happy to have you here. My team of testers has been awesome to work with. PERFORMANCE 37/40 What can I say? I did the work and the system has delivered for me. Really all you need to ask yourself is will you do that work and do you have the proper space and time to do it. For me I've only docked a few points here because its met rather than exceeded expectations. For me it's done exactly what they said it would While the primary goal of the SuperSpeed Golf system is to retrain the brain to swing faster there is a physical element to it. Certainly not enough to act as a primary work out, I still do my cardio and some additionally strength training. That is not to say that there weren't some fitness challenges for this reasonably fit 62 year old. Step changes were tough at first, until I figured out that they were like pitching from the stretch and kneeling swings were killers until SuperSpeed was kind enough to send us each a kneeling pad. It's honestly a bit pricey if you purchase it through their site but it is nice, durable and makes the kneeling swings much easier. I'm sure there would be cheaper options but be careful, you need to be sure that the pad that you use works and that it cushions your knees. You've already seen my Swing Speed gains. What has this meant? Thus far 15 yards plus with the driver and a full club with my irons. I'm currently a 7 handicap. While I haven't had a lot of time to play over the past couple of months because of work I have had several very nice rounds on very demanding courses. I've actually moved back a half set of tees on my home course and still shot in the mid to upper 70's. Fifteen yards with driver plus a club with irons is two clubs plus on each hole. That will ultimately translate into much lower scores. I've been as low as a 1 in my life. My goal is to get back to a 2 during league play this upcoming Spring/Summer/Fall. I think it's obtainable particularly if this distance gain remains locked in. Here's the radar on the range after a phase one swing speed test: Here's my fastest driver SS after level 2 KEEP IT OR REGIFT 20/20 I'm keeping it! Now to be sure at this point it would be reasonable to give an incomplete because there is no way for me to test the assertion that these speed increases are permanent fixtures for my game. Also there was a significant plateau period in level 2 that was very hard to grind through. Some of the testers are still stuck in that plateau. For some, this tester included, the temptation to cut and run with the 5 % gain of level one was very real. It was the commitment to the group, to MGS, to SuperSpeed Golf and those who might read this review that kept me going, even through a significant head cold that quite frankly sucked the life out of my Christmas. I'm in this for the long run. There's a whole new series of adventures coming in the level 3 protocol that we just started. I love the group of guys that I'm doing this test with and see no reason to stop until they've had a chance to take it to the course next Spring. I owe it to them and myself to continue. I really want to see my average driver swing speed get back up over 100 again - maybe I will actually have to re-shaft my driver! WRAP-UP So there you have it for now. From the Rev's perspective the SuperSpeed Golf System delivered on its opening promises. But you will have to weigh the cost for yourself. It's currently on sale for $199.99 which to me is a bargain and a half. However you will also need to invest in a radar device for another $100 - $130 and a kneeling pad of some sort for $15-$50. I would not skimp on that kneeling pad unless you are significantly younger. The system will work but only if you do the work that it requires so that's another cost to count. It's relentless, half an hour, three days a week, every week, for fourteen weeks to start but ideally seventy weeks. That's a year and twenty weeks. You either need to live in a warm weather climate or have a sufficient enough indoor space (gyms or work out centers at a health club or hotel will do as will some basements and garages.) I would also highly recommend doing it in a group, grab a few friends, join us here, some sort of support system though. For that investment, if you are willing, you will get a proven system and access to the incredible SuperSpeed Golf team. These folks are dedicated to teaching golfers how to swing faster. They are constantly updating the program as they obtain more data that uncovers what it takes to swing a golf club faster. Faster swing speeds, more distance, lower scores, more fun on the golf course! That's what SuperSpeed Golf is all about. A final thank you to My Golf Spy, SuperSpeed Golf and most especially the guys on my testing team for allowing me to be a part of this. Please feel free to ask questions. I know that I will checking this thread regularly and posting updates as we work our way through level three and beyond. Happy New Year and here's to more fairways and greens for everyone!

  9. I understand that. My point was that Ping will gladly fix it even if you are the 3rd owner of a 20 year old set of irons. They don’t want their clubs in people’s bags looking like s***, regardless if they were purchased from an authorized dealer or from eBay. That’s why Ping is one of the top OEM’s, if not the top. Their customer service is second to none. I had a set of 20 year old ISI irons and wanted to replace the shaft bands that were tattered. I called them up, they asked if I needed stiff or regular bands, and the guy said, “I’ll need to check, we might have some.” He could have easily just ignored my request but he went out of his way to find the bands for my 20 year old JZ shafts, they also sent them to me free of charge. Cobra F9 Driver Thread

Very impressed with the F9. I hit the 9 degree head with the heavy weight forward. Hitting frozen range balls isnt the best way to get a feel for a driver, but it felt really good. Loved the sound of it. Even at 9 degrees with the weight forward it still had plenty of launch. What I truly loved was the Fuji Atmos Black TS shaft in it. Felt so good. I can't wait until my fitting at Club Champ on Friday where I can get some actual numbers with the F9 (and try the Atmos in my TS2!) I will provide much more information after my fitting on Friday.

  11. Yup, time for me to start researching a push cart that'll be best for my big DLX cart bag and saving up for it. As much as I golf-and always in a cart, the $ savings along with the health benefits got to both be positive.

    Riding vs. Walking

For the most part, I enjoy walking and take the opportunity to do so. Especially because I have a hard time paying the cart fees at many of the courses I play. In some cases the cart fees nearly double the total cost of the round. I particularly enjoy getting up early in the summer and walking by myself as one of the only people on the course. Soothing. Once last summer I was even early enough that I couldn't actually see my tee shot on the first hole. My in-laws worked for a while at an executive course near us, which meant free golf and free carts. In that case, we almost always rode. It meant being able to get 18 done in 90 minutes if the course wasn't busy. (Yes, I like playing fast golf. I'm trying to work on that this year in an effort to lower my HC and really think about what I'm doing on the course.) I quit carrying years ago, however. Was never comfortable, clubs always clanged together, which I hated. And it was heavy. Have used a push/pull cart in some form then since I was 18 or so. I used to be VERY overweight, and about six years ago I permanently changed my diet and now routinely weightlift and exercise. Walking has the additional bonus of being better for my health!

Had a great day hunting quail yesterday with my friend. Our dogs are some of the best in the country and it showed with how many birds we found even found some in areas others hunted before us. Now I get to look forward to quail for a few meals.

NOT a beautiful day on the other side of Mt. Rainier. We are sitting in an inversion weather pattern for the next 3 days. High 35º Low 31º and foggy. Hole #7 shown My wife and I walked 18 today with another guy. First time she has walked our course. I told her I was going to walk because I can stay warmer than riding in a cart, even with a cover on it... no heater! Shot an uninspired 83.

  15. Hey, me again with another rules type post, so pay attention. TIER TWO EVENTS What makes a Tier Two Event? When @GolfSpy STUDque explained his vision as that certain tournaments were going to worth more than others, I sent my head a spinning as to try and figure out what events should stand a cut above the standard tour events. I had to rack my brain to come up with criteria but it settle pretty quickly into my usual mush. Here were my thoughts 1) Big Names in the field A tier two event should feel important, it should have big names and be regarded as one of the bigger tournaments of the year because of this. Sadly, people like the John Deere because it has a couple of stars, people love Pebble because it has a ton of stars. 2) Classic events with reputation Again, I love Harbour Town, it's great, but if you had to say which was the bigger event, is it Harbour Town, or is it Colonial? 3) MONEY The big decider really, the bigger the purse the more likely your big names are showing up The PGA Schedule This is quite possibly the hardest thing toward picking these events as Tier Two, Most of the tournaments we regard as classics group together, and with the major switch this year of the PGA being in May, it means I wanted to keep at least a fair amount of distance between events. It's why some events you think should be here may not be, it just puts too many big point earning opportunities too close to the front of the schedule and not the end. Stud and I ran through multiple looks at this before we settled on something that struck a decent balance and more importantly, gave fireworks to the finish of the schedule. YOUR TIER TWO EVENTS THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP (Mar 14-17) THE WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP (May 2-5) THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT (May 30-Jun 2) THE WGC FEDEX ST. JUDE INVITATIONAL (Jul 25-28) Why these events? Well, let's start with the easy selections. The Players was always a Tier two evet when we discussed this, as was WGC's. The Memorial always brings the best players in to Jack's house and the Wells Fargo is perfectly situated between the Masters and the PGA for most players to end up their as a tune-up for the PGA and the first start after Augusta. The way our scheduling works is that you have a tier three event in The Open, followed by a tier two event in St. Jude, followed by a standard event in the Wyndham, then the playoffs begin. It's a crazy finish to a season that admittedly lacked some excitement last year, so Stud and I are trying this. Will it work, he hope it does and that you all enjoy it. So, in case you're wondering, here is the tentative season schedule, with + denoting Tier Two and * Denoting Tier Three Events Feb. 7-10: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am; Pebble Beach GL, Pebble Beach, CA; $7,400,000 Feb. 14-17: Genesis Open; The Riveria Country Club, Pacific Palisades, CA; $7,200,000 Feb. 21-24: WGC-Mexico Championship; Club de Golf Chapultepec, Mexico City, Mexico; $10,000,000 Feb. 28-March 3: The Honda Classic; PGA National, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; $6,600,000 MARCH Mar. 7-10: Arnold Palmer Invitational; Bay Hill Club and Lodge, Orlando, FL; $8,900,000 + Mar. 14-17: The Players Championship; TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Verde Beach, FL; $10,500,000 Mar. 21-24: Valspar Championship; Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, Palm Harbor, FL; $6,500,000 Mar. 28-31: Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship; Corales Puntacana Resort & Club, Punta Cana, D.R.; $3,000,000 APRIL Apr. 4-7: Valero Texas Open; TPC San Antonio, San Antonio, TX; $6,200,000 * Apr. 11-14: Masters Tournament; Augusta National GC, Augusta, GA; $11,000,000 Apr. 18-21: RBC Heritage; Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head Island, SC; $6,700,000 Apr. 25-28: Zurich Classic of New Orleans; TPC Louisiana, New Orleans, LA; $7,200,000 LIKELY BYE WEEK BECAUSE OF FORMAT MAY + May 2-5: Wells Fargo Championship; Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, NC; $7,700,000 May 9-12: AT&T Byron Nelson; Trinity Forest Golf Club, Dallas, TX; $7,700,000 * May 16-19: PGA Championship; Bethpage State Park BK Corse, Bethpage NY; $11,000,000 May 23-26: Charles Schwabb Challenge; Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth, TX; $7,100,000 + May 30-Jun. 2: The Memorial Tournament; Muirfield Village GC, Dublin, OH; $8,900,000 JUNE Jun. 6-9: RBC Canadian Open; Hamilton Golf & Country Club, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; $6,200,000 * Jun. 13-16: U.S. Open; Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, CA; $12,000,000 Jun. 20-23: Travelers Championship; TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, CT; $7,000,000 Jun. 27-30: Rocket Mortgage Classic; Detroit Golf Club, Detroit, MI; New tournament JULY July 4-7: 3M Open; TPC Twin Cities, Blaine, MN: $6,600,000 July 11-14: John Deere Classic; TPC Deere Run, Silvis, IL; $5,800,000 * July 18-21: The Open Championship; Royal Portrush Golf Club, Portrush, NIR; $10,500,000 + July 25-28: WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational; TPC Southwind, Memphis, TN; $10,000,000 AUGUST Aug. 1-4: Wyndham Championship; Sedgefield Country Club, Greensboro, NC; $6,000,000 FedEx Cup Playoffs Aug. 8-11: The Northern Trust; Liberty National GC, Jersey City, NJ; $9,000,000 Aug. 15-18: BMW Championship; Medinah CC, Medinah, IL; $9,000,000 Aug. 22-25: TOUR Championship; East Lake GC, Atlanta, GA; $9,000,000

  16. A lovely time on the range followed by a quick nine: had six of these drives on the course today: I know this may look like nothing to many of you but my average driver SS on this device in September was 88. Today it was nearly 95. I averaged almost 240 today. That’s what I averaged off the tee when I was a 1. I’m pretty pumped right now. There’s lots of things I still do well on the golf course. A tad more distance could go a long, long way. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

    jlukes' Swing Overhaul

Not at all. Why would I take swing advice from anyone other than the man I'm paying a lot of money to give me swing advice. This thread wasn't made to solicit swing advice, it was created to share my journey.

  20. I’m going to try when I get home. Just played a quick 9 after church. Daisy challenged me to swing as hard as I could with driver. So I did. Here’s a sample: This device is 3 mph slower than the radar we use so 97 on this is 100 on that. I averaged 88 on it before we started, 94.7 today. Just under 240 for my 6 drives on the old GPS. Pretty stoked!!! I hope Daisy sees this. [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  22. I've been inspired by two recent threads: @jlukes's swing overhaul, and @revkev's thread comparing lessons and fitting vs. self-teaching and off-the-rack clubs (these are both great threads that, if you haven't, you should go read and keep up with). To begin, I'm nowhere in jluke's class as a player. I'm a mid/high handicap player, floating right around 15. But I think I can get better. As I commented in revkev's thread, I have no objections to getting lessons and getting a fitting. I'd love to do both of those. My chief obstacle is location. I don't have an actual driving range within an hour of my home. There are no full golf stores (as far as I know) within two hours of where I live. There is a really good golf coach at a course that's an hour away, and he also does fittings. He would absolutely be my first choice, but signing up for regular lessons with a two-hour round-trip commute: the time and cost add up in a hurry. I tried to get together with him to get fitted for my G700 irons that I reviewed for MGS last summer, but we couldn't get our schedules to align. So consider me another test case for revkev's question. I'm aiming to answer the question, "How much improvement can be gained with off-the-rack clubs and self-teaching?" Here's the starting point: This is my Game Golf summary of my rounds from this past July and August, set in contrast with a 5-handicap. What immediately jumps out is that I'm loosing a ton of strokes to a single-digit off the tee and in my short game. There is certainly room for improvement in ball-striking and putting, but the low-hanging fruit is in the other categories. Why am I so bad off the tee? It's not because I spray it all over; I hit an ordinary number of fairways. It's because I hardly hit it out of my own shadow. Do you see that last column? That's embarrassing. So, my first plan is to continue the SuperSpeed training that I've been doing for a couple of months now. I've seen significant speed gains already, but because I have no way to get to a course or a range before spring (late April at best here), I'm anxious to see how the speed with translate. I'm also working on a meaningful swing overhaul, with a lot of similarities to what jlukes is describing in his thread. Here's a screen cap of a swing in my backyard from a couple of years ago: Like jlukes, I have a tendency to have a pronounced forward sway through the swing, which essentially forces me to catch up with a flip at the bottom. The early extension is visible in this video I took for the G700 review. For my part, I'm pretty sure the answer is found in wrist angles, with a corresponding emphasis on rotation and staying behind the ball. These are the moves I'm working on now. I'm also working through the content from Adam Young's The Strike Plan. I'm a big fan of Adam's work, especially the notion of turning strike into a practiced skill. How am I going to measure progress until I'm on the course? Technology! I have just recently purchased a SkyTrak, which I got for a very good price. I also have a good camera that wirelessly connects to my tablet, allowing me to look at my swing in real time. And finally, I have a Zepp swing monitor. My intention is to use my garage as a pretty high-tech self-coaching bay. The SkyTrak is going to be a big part of tightening up my short game as well. One of the built-in features is the Dave Pelz-esque wedge matrix: it allows you to chart your wedges distances for full, 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 swings for each of the wedges in your bag. My hope is to dial these in with practice this winter, giving me much greater ability to knock shots within 100 yards to makeable putting distances. My goal for this season is ambitious. I want to drop from being ~15 handicap to somewhere in the single digits. But I believe that I have the tools that I need to accomplish this goal. And I have a community here for the support, which is also a key component. I'll be using this thread to keep everyone posted on my progress.

  23. I've read his putting book. My take on it: 1. I really like it. 2. Like a lot of golf books, it's a single idea that could fit in an article stretched out over a whole book. 3. I'm glad I read it after I read a bunch of technical books. From my point of view, Stockton's "just relax and putt with your stroke" is best taken by those who've already done a ton of grinding over their putting. To go to Stockton right away, I think, could be a problem.

  25. It hasn't been a very closely guarded secret but we were excited full announce it today. We will have a few at the PGA Show for people to use so stay tuned. We think this will be a great addition to our product line and complements the NX7 and Pro well.

    Weight Loss Thread

Week 1 at the gym went well. I made my goal of 4 days. I may add a 5th day for only cardio. Friday we worked chest and triceps. I am really stiff and sore yesterday, and today still. One thing I had forgotten is that through all of my younger days of playing hockey and baseball/softball is that I have done some damage to my left shoulder, so bench pressing really puts a lot of pressure on it. I now know that I need to take it easy on that exercise and build up strength a bit slower. I think some of the soreness is from compensating on other muscles to protect the sore shoulder. Other than that I think I am doing okay. My motto, “doing something is better than doing nothing.”

  28. Just another $5,800 weekend... Over the years, I've been forced to replace broken and bad parts and pieces in the house just like any other red-blooded mortgage holder (i.e.: "American Dream"), and like many I'm sure, many of those revolve around kitchen appliances. Our house is only about 7-years old at most and we've been in it for 6-1/2 of those. It was basically brand new when we moved in and it came with all, mid-tier appliances you'd expect to find in a decent middle-class house. First, the garbage disposal died. I purchased a bigger, badder one and got it replaced, no prob. $300 The very next week, the dishwasher started to leak. New Bosch high-end in its place. $1,000 Just before Christmas of 2016, our microwave (a drawer-style one that fits below the counter) smoked. Direct replacement was $1,200 Now the gas oven is on the fritz...most likely a bad igniter that will be fixed later this week. But I want a better one, so I decided to see if I'd be allowed to upgrade it with a bad-a** 6-burner model (I cook a lot). The answer was "yes", but I could only do so if I allowed the War Department to get a replacement fridge also.... Even though we aren't getting a Wolf range and a Sub-Zero fridge, we still got worked for $5,800 (includes tax, delivery & set-up), and they will be swapped out Saturday. Our original fridge is already sold, so that's good, but damn... Home ownership is great, isn't it???!!

  30. Southwest Harbor is a beautiful area, and not far from Kebo Valley, which is one of the premier courses in the state. It can be pretty busy in the summer with all of the tourists, but all of MDI is nice and Acadia National Park has some beautiful areas.

  31. Honestly, I thought I was going to have the low score heading into Stage 2. Going in to the swing speed test I had not seen much of a gain right up until the end. I already had my rating system worked out, and it wasn't too good. You know what they say about when you assume. The driver swings you took without a ball are impressive! 32. Right in my backyard, baby! If you look out beyond the breakwater, you'll see me waving to you from North Haven. The Samoset is a pretty nice course. I've played it a couple of times. I do think it'll be memorable enough to justify a vacation round.

  33. Thanks man The really secret to SuperSpeed is the person’s commitment to it. Commit and you’re in. You will get faster. Every comparative stat says the difference between handicap groupings is distance. But SuperSpeed battles guys thinking it’s not an issue for them and a general lack of people’s ability to commit. 36. Just finished week 3 of the intro protocol. Had the radar out at the range yesterday during a practice session. Driver speed was averaging 103, low was a 99 and high was 136 (I think the radar caught the ball on that one since it didn't carry over the end of range net) For reference, driver speed (with no ball) prior to starting was 93. At my driver fitting 6 months ago, my speeds were 95-100. 3 months to go before league season, hoping to see some additional gains before then.

  38. If there's interest, I'll organize a NorCal meet-up later in the Spring. Maybe at Yoche De He Play golf, meet MGS people, have an adult beverage, and spend the night to gamble if one wishes. Simple and social.

  39. Yep. To add to what @cnosil said. Anything we do in the way of an official MGS outing would be a one weekend type event with maybe Two rounds and some other fun stuff. To add to what @RickyBobby_PR said. This isn't my first rodeo in being involved in these things. So nothing is on the books. But is still on the radar at some point

    MyGolfSpy Tournament

I think there is some confusion. The first post and what Rob is discussing is an outing. However, the title and your response is abouta a tournament. I think it would be more likely that we could get a weekend type outing coordinated and not a true tournament.

  44. Lesson #2 I had my second lesson today and it was nice to see my work I did throughout the week payoff. Again, we focused on the lower body: straightening that left leg through ground force and getting that left hip behind me. My coach was very pleased with the results he was seeing already and wanted me to continue to focus on the lower body. (Lesson 1 on the right, today's lesson on the left) One thing, he said, would come with more time is that my left leg would straighten even earlier in the swing. He said that my left leg should be fully extended by the time I reach impact. It was clear that while left hip was rotating and my left leg was straitening, that it was still happening passively and not driving my downswing. In order to demonstrate what he was talking about, he put my side by side with Lydia Ko. Lydia does a great job of rotating and posting up on her left leg so that she is fully posted up before she reaches the ball and then she can just rotate around that leg through impact. The one thing we talked about at the end of the lesson was taking this move to the next level, which is the slight squat to begin the downswing so I can really load up and push of the ground the get extra club head speed. My swing is already pretty fast, but it is inefficient, so once I start rotating correctly AND start using the ground forces to my advantage, he expects my clubhead speed to make a nice jump. Over the next week I will be working on the same drills I have been, while adding the slight squat the the beginning of the downswing. If I do get to the range to hit balls, I will simply work on the movement and the feelings - while not hitting balls at more than 80% speed, in order to make sure I stay properly sequenced. I absolutely love the direction these lessons are taking me in. I am hitting the ball in the center of the clubface now rather than off the bottom groove and the wear patter on my 7 iron from this lesson proves it. I have yet to hit any balls on a launch monitor yet, but I am really excited to see what happens to my distances. When you combine more clubhead speed, more centered strike location, and optimized dynamic loft, it can only lead to good things!

  46. Mixed day today. The Pats won. But I think tonight is the last episode of Donovan. I don't think it's coming back. Premium cable is dying. Everything is streaming now, and I can't buy every streaming service. I like cable. Damn world changes too fast for us old people. Even with the Pats winning, I guess I'm still in a lousy mood. Even after two pitchers of Bloody Marys. Not good. But tomorrow is another day, right?

  49. I honestly hadn't walked a course since high school until this last august. Got to play the Jubilee Course @ St. Andrews and had to walk 18 since that was the course rules. I wasn't sure if I could handle walking that much as I am not it the best shape of my life (Luckily Round is still a shape)! I was able to handle it no problem and have since decided that I am going to walk more this year. I do like @chisag idea of alternating holes. I think that would be a good way to start the process of walking this year.
