Once I was tall enough for men’s clubs I got my Dads hand-me-down Powerbilt TPS irons. He took the opportunity to get himself some Callaway Big Berthas…

Once he realized I was better than him, I was fit for Ping i3s and gamed those until just last year when I upgraded to Ping i230s I certainly got my moneys worth out of the i3s and hope to do the same with these i230s.

  • 1st- got a set of US kids golf clubs for Christmas when I was 14.
  • Quickly outgrew the US kids less than a year later and got a set of Tour edge iron/hybrid combo set. These did not last long lol.
  • 3rd set-wilson staff oversized irons. I was starting high school golf and these were a gift from my grandmother. She took me to the golf shop and let me pick them out. This set is the set that truly got me in love with the game. They were surprisingly pure and felt great.
  • 4th- Cleveland TA6s.  Played the staffs a while but outgrew the shafts and the oversized head. The Clevelands were good. Played them throughout my high school career.
  • 5th- Cleveland CG4 tour. I liked Cleveland and was going to play college golf so I decided to go for a more players style. Did my research and bought these used. They were pretty sweet. Incredible workability and felt nice when solid but let you know when you miss even slightly.
  • 6th- My current set(until tomorrow) is titliest VG3s. If you haven't heard of these I can tell you they are the beat irons I've ever owned. I stopped playing for 10 years after college. Picked the game back up and got these on ebay from Japan. Hadnt heard of them until i looked them up. They are basically Japanese AP1/AP2s but 1 piece endo forged. Soft as a mizuno but shockingly forgiving. They are huge in Japan and have a cult following in the US.
  • 7th- I have a set of mizuno 223s arriving(hopefully tonight). I love a soft forged feel and have always wanted mizunos. Finally gonna try them. TBD on results! If they are as good as the VG3s with more pop then they are gonna be awesome.

I also bought a set of 714 AP2s at the same time as the VG3s to directly compare but it wasn't even close as far as performance. So I quickly sold the APs.

I feel like I missed a set or two but this is definitely the DNA of my golf game. Im excited to add the mizunos to that shortly!

223’s are outstanding. I played them for almost two seasons and played some great golf with them. I was fortunate to test the T100’s last season and head to head the T100’s won.

Congrats on the new set, you’re going to love them!😊

My list is very short. I play with an old set Ping Karsten III. I am getting back into golf after a 25+ year layoff.  I played with an off brand of Ping back then, and I really liked playing with them. So I figured going back with Ping was a no brained for me. Now that I have a several rounds played indoors and out. I am looking at updating/grading to the i230. I will be doing a fitting(now that you can do that), so who knows they may show me a better game with a different manufacture.

I am a golfer that is getting back into the game. With luck I will get to update my lower handicap.

Last year I picked up the PXG Xcor2, 4i-W after playing Mizuno MP-14 blades since the late 90's. I absolutely love them. Easy to hit, some workability and great feel. I just didn't want want to work so hard playing blades any more.

I started playing golf in 1979 at the age of 12 and have many sets of irons. Some I loved, and some I still wonder what I was thinking.

From first to latest:

Hogan Producers 2-pw- First cast clubs Hogan ever made. Apex shafts were the best ever

Top Flight forged blades 2-SW These were great clubs for me

Hogan radials-JUNK

Wilson Dynapower 2-pw- Redesign of a classic-weak lofts and very unforgiving

Head Premise- 2-sw I loved these clubs and played them for 12 years. Head did not stay in the game long.

Mizuno MP-32 3-PW- Played these for 10 years when I played to a +2.  I could hit every shot with these. Still have them and wonder how I ever hit them.

Taylormade M2 Tour- 3-pw- Solid irons that were forgiving, but still workable.

Mavrik Pro 4-AW - Always loved the look of these at address

Taylormade P790 5-AW- These are my current gamers, but I don't like the shafts.  The jury is still out

Started golf with a set of Dan Sykes blades that my dad used.  They still had the old leather wrap grips on them.  Stung your hands if you missed the sweet spot.

Graduated to a junior set, cannot remember who they were, but they were blades too.

From there I got set of knock off Pings -  Z-Models, used those for several years.

Then got a set of MXD irons from Golf USA in late middle school or high school

Then got fitted for Zevo irons

Then Ping iBlades from the early 2000's

Bought my first set which was a set of TA200 Cleveland irons

And now the Ping i200's

My dad has played the same set of Tommy Armour 845's for 30 years or so.  He got them off a local pro right after they came out.

I haven't had too many sets of irons, until recently. I started golf in high school at age 14 and then took a long break from golf after high school. I have sold or given away all of my old sets, so I no longer have any of them. Here's my list from 1st to present:

  • Intech 3-PW (no clue what model)
  • Mizuno MX-15 t-zoid 3-PW (my only brand new set, we ordered them out of a magazine)

Most of these I have in my garage now as my dad game them to me.  I even have some of his old sets from when he started playing.  Might need to list those somewhere and get them out of my garage to a true collector/seller.

Cool fact too - my grandad owned one of the original Ping putters which was gifted to me upon his passing.  It stands next to my bed.
