Yeah, his proximity stats thru the first 10 holes was incredible. The round definitely had the looks of a #59Watch. It's interesting to see how the best players in the world adjust the Thurs/Fri game plan without a cut to worry about.

Leaderboard is tightening up.

 

Tiger bogeys the 8th (his 17th) to fall back to -7.

Rory is -7 through 12 holes.

Fowler is in the group with Tiger and is -5.

Billy Horschel, Ryan Armour and Xander Schaufele also at -5.

 

Looks like it's going to be a birdie race this week as they are all going low in hot and humid conditions.

Rory stiffs an iron to about 2 feet on his 14th hole.  Kick in to go to -9.

 

Horschel taps in for birdie at his 16th.

 

Tiger birdies his 18th hole to shoot 62 (-8).

Riddle me this.  How is Bryson anymore exhausted than most of this field who have been playing the same tournaments he has in the past few weeks?  They keep mentioning this as an excuse for him not playing as well.  I would argue that the guys trying to chase him down the past few events are more gassed than he is  :unsure:.

 

Tiger still looking good and right in the mix heading into the weekend.  The bogies on 17 & 18 no doubt have him in a slow burn, but that may actually motivate him more.

 

Glad to hear Rickie is feeling and playing good.  I did not know he had the oblique injury.  He's saying it may actually be helping him with driving as he is having to throttle back a little.  Just heard his post round interview and responses to Jarrod Lyle... man this kid is a class act!!

It's a driver wedge contest today. Not very exciting so far...

 

This repeating format of play has made the main tour a bit boring IMO.  I can't help but think even the players would like to exercise their 4-7i's a bit more.  Start making 2 or 3 of three par 3 holes 215+ and narrow landing areas at the 270-320 zone with a few deep faced bunkers strategically placed.  

 

I'm playing tomorrow and for certain will use everything but my 2i. If us average Joe's need to use the full set of clubs, so should the tour pro's.  Hell, I'm even proficient with my ball retriever.

Tiger has teased this tourney.

Opens with 2 birdies, then sleeps for 10 or 11 holes then finally makes another putt.

Seems to has lost the fairways too...
