Filling divots on fairways

Recommended Posts

In previous years (pre -Covid) we would fill up our divot bottles with the sand mix that our Club stores in a big box and fill divots on the fairway. During the current Covid protocols our Club hasn't put the mix out because it would require opening (touching) the lid.

For those of you playing how does your course handle this? I'd like to offer suggestions to our course superintendent since the course is getting 'beaten up'..

Ha lucky you. Public courses providing divot fill. I can think of less than a handful in Cle/Akr metro that have the jugs on the cart.

Really the only option is to take the lid off, give each player a disinfected bottle at check in and have them fill it. Unfortunately it is one of the downfalls of playing at this time.

I work two mornings each week (Mon & Wed) as a Ranger/Starter.....For the past month, I have been filling divots in the fairways and on the Par 3 tees. We have another Ranger that does the same on two other days(Tues & Sun). We wear gloves and sanitize our scoops.

Really should be on the course to be vigilant on filling these during/end of day. In the end it’s the course and it is not the players fault that they (I say they because I cannot play at this time 😭). Will help down the road to make sure the course is in good shape when everything returns to status quo

The Starter or Ranger opens the Box filled with the green mix and you fill the bottle without touching anything (scoops have been removed) works OK. I didn’t really give it any thought.

My course doesn't supply sand. I just track down my pelt and replace it. I know it won't grow back but, it's better than having someone land in a hole.
That's all most of us can hope for. And your effort is appreciated.
