Good morning Spies and happy hump day! Another busy day of office time for me, but looking forward to getting some putting green time in the coming days with my new DF3!

Good morning MGSpies from an early wet gusty Wednesday after overnight storms serenaded sleep with  lots of thunder and  bucket loads of rain, workday getting going in basement central on the zero commute day and last full day of work this week for events with son's RIT graduation that begin tomorrow afternoon. Coffee soon to be ready on a Community Call eve recalling how golf didn't happen yesterday with son home for other things to do getting ready for the weekend, so a steamer taking wrinkles out of graduation gown counts as something like swinging a club right? I guess not.  Next chance for golf is this afternoon!

Good morning and happy hump day! It is supposed to be gorgeous today with highs in the upper 70s and no rain forecasted. After work toast, I'm planning on playing 9 with a friend to take the edge off of the week. Still have a busy week ahead of me, so I need to be productive so I can enjoy the weekend. I'm ready to take it on and finish the week off in style!

Good morning everyone on another rainy morning. Feels like I’m back home in the PNW with all the morning dreariness lately. The lack of golf lately has me feeling down but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and after Mothers Day I should be home free to be busy on the course as much as I want in the afternoons. Good morning Spies on a picture-perfect, sunny with not a cloud in the sky Michigan morning in the Motor City area.

Big storms and some tornados through Michigan yesterday evening and overnight, so hoping that those in the southwestern part of the state made it through unscathed.

Welcome @Billy The Kid Rogers and @shady 101, we won't hold knowing @GolfSpy SAM against you initially. 

@berkeleybob very nice picture, reminds me of a trip I had in the month of May in the past to Poland and saw similar fields along the roads. 

Delivery day today for my Motocaddy, so hoping it comes sooner than later so I can get some outdoor pictures with it today, as the weather again turns for the worse tonight.

Hope that your day is the best it can be, and that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans.

Morning!! Up with the birds today - literally! - there were some very busy, very very vocal ones sounded like right outside our window facing in at 0415 Sir Chunks time...

Fortunately I'm a lazy old retired fart and was able to kinda get a little more on and off sleep time. Which is needed after some golfing activities yesterday!

Some practice time and then played 9. Still cannot bring my range swing to the course. Obviously it's all mental so maybe one path is not practice and only play for a while..?

Anyway lots of good, and a few not so good, things going on with you other Spies .. and hope everyone can have a good day today!!

Morning All,

Going to be a long day today and tomorrow since the only thing I can eat are popsicles that are green or yellow, and jello that is either green or yellow. Gonna miss food for almost 36 hours. Bright side is it should do wonders for my figure. Trackman test this afternoon, I’m looking forward to that. Hope everyone has a good day.

Long day yesterday at work changes coming some personnel based and more online tracking work for me. Good and bad. Good they company sees my value, bad no wage increase for it yet lol. Got to the range on the way home and ball striking is getting much better with the swing change I’m making with the 9 iron. Going to start moving up the bag tomorrow maybe the 6 or 7. Brought 2 dozen of the practice balls my neighbor gave me to donate to the range today . @Rob Person mentioned me in his comment for a son belt free belt Friday and we won and this arrived last night.

Chicken broth is good too! I was allowed pedialyte as well. It was hard staying hydrated!  And for goodness sake, don't take the liquid meds until you are secured at home!!!

Good Morning spies, it is a dreary day out!  Glad I was able to play 9 holes yesterday as today won't be good for much except some indoor chores.  Going to make some french toast I think after I get laundry going and press some coffee.  Have a fantastic day everybody!

Happy Hump Day to those who celebrate it. It’s a bit rainy in CNY this morning but the day seems a bit brighter for some reason. I will be getting Nemo here out on the practice green today.

 

Today is pool opening day. After yesterday’s almost 80, I’m looking forward to it. Which shade of green will be seeing this morning? Oh and the worms.

Overcast and drizzly morning here. We're expecting thunderstorms here the next couple of days, but hopefully nothing as bad as what went through the Ohio valley last night. Hopefully everyone is ok.

Hope everyones wednesday is looking better than this states might be oooooffaa.  Good news though is I had a pretty decent round yesterday during league.  First time cracking the mid 40's from my now new farther back tee box.  So that was awesome.  The 24 putts.... not so much lol.

So many colors on this one.  Maybe ill get some good drone shots at least before my roof gets hailed into oblivion.

Good morning, Spies!  I had planned for this to be a golf day, but the weatherman said it is a high alert day for storms, large hail, and possible tornados.  So instead, I am going to continue to work on the build process on a set of Toura CB irons.  I was fortunate to be selected as a builder and tester of these gorgeous irons.  If you haven't done so already, I encourage you to check out the Toura Build and Test thread.

Today appears to be a busy day on course work, want to get it all done and enjoy my weekend. May be a bit hard to focus due to the mix of a new putting mat arriving today and continuously staring down a new shaft I have for the Qi10 Max that I am waiting on a grip to arrive for

Good Morning Spies!

The day is shaping up to be…well, Wednesday I guess. 
 

Daughter’s car has a dead battery. Luckily I showed her how to jump it with one of those handy jump starters the size of a portable phone charger. I’ll have to head to her school at lunch and swap cars so I can get the battery tested. 
 

On the work front, our dang plotter is messing up and not working and can’t seem to get it fixed. It’s a driver issue I’m sure so we will see what we can do there. 
 

Other than that, hopefully that’s the worst of it. Supposed to get storms this afternoon but then clear out through the weekend which will be nice for Mother’s Day.

This topic has been on my mind for a bit lately, On Southern Vancouver Island, in the past 2-3 weeks, many private clubs have been closed for up to a week to "punch" their course, fairways and greens. I have been at Olympic View for 7 years and not once have they done a "big core" punch and believe me the greens are the best I have ever played on. They are measured and posted daily and since February have not been under 10 on the stump meter and usually 11 or over, so I reached out to the Superintendent last week and asked him about the "why" behind not taking the big cores out, here is what he said

" long story short we manage out nitrogen very precisely to limit growth (tissue & organic matter) so that we can manage organic matter levels with top dressing alone. We also send samples off every February to get precise organic matter measurements and then design our programs for individual greens top dressing apps based off of that."

Two takeaways for me from this comment, Agronomy and science works (imagine that) and because our "greens" are not as "green" as other courses does not mean they are dying or in bad shape, I will try and get a picture of them for all of you. They don't look like agusta national but let me tell you, they are smooth, true and fast.

@Tom the Golf Nut I think our club uses the smaller tines at this point because the greens are newer, less than 2 yrs old,  Nov 2022. While the holes are noticeable they heal pretty fast. I do think the green sand makes a difference.

Good morning Spies!

Another nice day in Chicago and I have gotten through the worst of my busy work week. Should be a relatively chill day as I prepare to fly out to North Carolina tomorrow morning. Always nice when your Wednesday turns into a Friday!

Was able to hit the range last night after work. Have some new feels I'm working on, which seem to be taking hold for the most part. Supposed to go to the sim this evening to get some more practice in.

@RichL85 I'm very sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Sending positive thoughts to you and your family during this difficult time.

yes, there has been talk about "older soil based greens, and greens built to PGA specs" and most of the private courses on southern vancouver island are over 100 years old, but many of their greens have been redone in the last 20 years" newer greens have definitely been built better than the old ones

My old course in TN used a machine that put slits in instead of punched holes and that was wonderful. You could play on it within minutes. 
Current club in NC is still in the 80’s. They alternate between the big plugs and the small ones. This time big next time small and so on. They tried the dry jet method last year and it wasn’t good.  It’s the closest course so I deal with it.
