No we only had a day in London on the beginning and ending of our trip. The focus was the ports on the cruise. We have spent a lot of time in Britain, Wales, Scotland and Ireland on other trips.

One year the director called me and asked if I could talk to some of the guys about fielding a team. No one would touch it with a 10 foot pole because it had gotten a reputation. After 15 years that event died a slow painful death. 

My course has a scramble every Saturday. It used to be fun but it has died down to hardly nothing. Management has gotten skimpy with the prizes and has pulled off some crap. Hardly any of the members play it anymore. Used to be fun because some of us who trusted each other would have like $5 side bets team against team. One of the reasons I do not play it is because they broke up our team. We honestly won 4 out of 6. The other team I used to be on they were going to break it up about the time I got hurt. Now with Snowbird season coming the field will be full again which is ok by me. They can do what they darn well please. I would rather go up on the little Par3 with the wife and a little informal group on Saturday and play my Hickory stuff.

I did play in a scramble a month ago now. It was for the SC Gamecocks Booster club. My fellow League member and Sunday playing partner is a wheel in that organization. One of our guys got sick and could not play and I was a last-minute substitute. I saw some of the players there I know (and they do not cheat) and knew we did not have a chance to win it outright. But we did have 3 groups from our Member's League so of course we had side bets going. Great course and it was fun. But as a whole I do not play scrambles any more

As for me, I am sore today. Nothing specific, just overall. Pretty sure it's from spending most of the day yesterday on the course from the tournament.  Still glowing from my natural eagle!

Now... the drop! So,  as many here have eluded to, you were correct!

the lady boss was up to something on the day she insisted I go play golf last weekend. (And got clobbered by a ball)

Apparently my in laws won a cruise, and having been on only one a few years ago, they did not enjoy it. Wife and I have been on several.

So while I was away on the course, they managed to spend half the day getting it transferred into our names (no easy task either so I was informed, paying name changing fees, emailing documents, e-waivers, arranging flights, etc)

Well, tomorrow we will be flying to Vancouver,  BC. From there we board the Celebrity Solstice for a 9 day cruise to Hawaii !!!  It has been a bucket list destination for us both for awhile, and also a much earned and needed vacation too!

So packing it up today, arranging last minute minor home details, and away we go!  

Apparently she knew last Friday, and did not tell me for a couple reasons. We (she) had to get a new credit card to pay for the flights (not cheap for last-minute). We are super budget minded people,  and the idea of breaking that mold is daunting for us, and she knew I probably would have passed this up had I known. But the lady boss assures me that we will be OK, and I trust her!

Have had the old Bertha 2 years now. I actually did a deal on it for the shaft. I hit it to feel what it would do. Was impressed and put it in the bag and have not touched it except to change the grip. The numbers and stuff are barely visible on the adjuster and I have not messed with the gravity cores either. I have not even put it on my static board and manually checked anything either. I have no idea of the settings. Some things on my stuff I do not want to know because it gets me thinking and in the tinkering mode which can be dangerous

Good Morning. I slept real late for me got up at 5:30. No golf yesterday. Did yard work and worked my butt off. Trimmed down the big Palm tree in the front yard and that was a job. Got it done and trimmed the small Azelea bush in front of it. Cleaned out the bed below both. Took a break mid day and then went out and cut the front grass. My wife made one of her "Super Salads" for dinner. Would take a page to describe but trust me it is good and filling. Settled in and watched the Pebble Beach Senior's event. Stayed up until like 9 which is LATE for me. I was tired last night but in a good way. No pain or stiffness this morning.

This is Par3 day. The wife and I are going up on the little Par3 course then out to eat Lord only knows where. With so many restaurants around here one can pick and choose and we usually do it on the fly. Going to play my Hickory stuff on the Par3 today. I think a couple of our informal group are also going to play Hickory today too. Should be a nice relaxing day

No golf today as I think the boss of the house would break my clubs since we have plans. What are those you may ask. I’ll be happy to tell ya. But first a message from my sponsor, well at least they don’t know they sponsor me nor am I actually getting any money from them. I guess that’s not how sponsorships work. Well, in that case, our plans today are going to a giant animal swap up near Richmond today. This has been a plan to do for quite some time now. So that’s what I’ll be doing today. Good Saturday morning Spies!

Yesterday was a long craft show setup one! Started at 4am with GC duties and ended at 8pm when finished getting the CEO's craft show setup completed, and all the stuff to get her ready and there in-between... I think I am approaching the "I'm too old for this S**% point... And this morning is getting ready to go help make sure it is all perfect before the show starts... Oh well enough of me.

The Superspeed really had my interest when it first came out.  But at that time I was just in the process of switching from steel to composite, having dealt with chronic left shoulder and left elbow pain.  6 months into the switch and all the pain went away... and has been gone since. 

I considered trying the SS system after that but simply did not want to chance messing anything up.  I also think some of these gadgets are best left to those a wee bit younger and way more flexible .

I play Cobra irons with Recoil ESX F1 (described as somewhere between regular and senior flex) shafts. I guess you would describe them as composite. Graphite, anyway. As I recall, he put me on the F1 based on my driver CHS at the time. It's a little faster now, which would seem to suggest a move to an F2, but I hit my irons okay so I'll leave it alone.

I don't think Rypstick has really bothered my shoulder (you're basically making your normal swing, but hard), but the overhead reaches of some of the FFG workouts definitely do.

Happy to report that the hip didn't bother me at all last night and there is no bruise where I landed. But yes, I was lucky. I figure the bone density I built up from marathoning stood me in good stead there.

The plans for going out to Geekster are a hard maybe, my wife was feeling better last night but she's still a quite fatigued so we'll play that one by ear. I'm just glad she's starting to feel progress in her recovery. Thanks again to everyone for the well wishes, she appreciates y'all as much as I do. 

It's been a fun week of seeing photos from the vacations of @Javs and @Northern Monkey and I'm looking forward to some from @Rob Person. Enjoy your trip my friend, it's been well earned.

I'm thankful I was able to get out and play yesterday after work. It was a beautiful day on the course and the most solid round I've had in a long time. My driver was the only thing that kept me from playing bogey golf because I had 2 go OB. I think what I'm most proud of is the fact of you take the penalty strikes off, I would have made bogey on the 6th and par on the 9th. Usually wayward drives lead to either +4 or worse so I'll take the triple and double I wrote on the scorecard. 

I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy whatever you're doing whether it's playing golf, spending time with the family like @Josh Parker, or helping out with a craft show like @William P.

Thanks for the best wishes from everyone. My hip is a tiny bit sore where I landed, but no bruising, no trouble walking. Wish my shoulder felt as good as my hip. I was lucky. Learned a lesson the hard way.

Good morning MGSpies on a sunny possibly last summer weather  weekend for 2024 in these parts with what has been mostly absent rain now featured well in the forecast this week and with Equinox tomorrow morning the sun is sending it's energy more elsewhere.  Hot coffee next to me as I type, and I must say I do read everything just like Jason does but my friend @sirchunksalot you have a way of capturing it that I wish I had such talent.  Years ago someone who became a dear friend in a sharing group, who never said much would listen and never volunteer before me, and as I wanted to hear other's thoughts before I influenced discussion, she always was the last to speak after I would finish when she would then say, "I like what he said," and I can now well appreciate her experience as I don't want to forget mentioning anyone but with my brain... I tend to come home from the store wondering what the 3rd thing was I was supposed to get. 

Love the vacations, cruises, golf adventures and the photos of all of them and what everyone shares.  I notice a lot and usually find the balls others think are lost wherever they went, so the photos are my vicarious adventure of whatever is contributed.  Prayers and intentions are there for those with concerns like appointments and procedures, family issues including the fur babies.  Jeff @ILMgolfnut in particular so glad your "equipment" mishap didn't end up with a worse result as next morning can have rude surprises once everything has had time to settle out.

Today is putting up the plastic shed bought last weekend in the back yard, in the corner under the oaks where it is between the garden shed and the fence and neighbor's Spruce bushes that grew to trees that shelters that corner in the strongest winter storms.  Should be a simple leveling, need to get gravel and permeable membrane as it is the lower corner of the yard and runoff will be managed with a little horizontal construction know-how.  

Golf yesterday was a quick practice round and I was hitting well, driver was behaving (meaning I was using it right lol) and completed 9 holes in about 90 minutes.  Next golf will be during the coming week.  Hope golf is a part of your day

Good morning Spies from a sunny and soon to be warm Michigan.

Headed out the door shortly to a small town north of us here for a car show this morning.

Small in scale but raises awareness for their redevelopment of their downtown "Main Street" area.

Golf is in my plans for tomorrow, and later this evening will be spent with SWMBO and her family at a small family celebration.

Top of the pot spies .  Another morning in the low 70's... feels great! Not much planned today so I'll likely spend some time at the practice area with the shag bag and putter. My last three rounds were 73, 75, and 77. More accurate target line on those chips is a must have.

I'll probably also spin a couple of the "replaced" LP's I just acquired via eBay while my wife is out at the stores. Aja, Rumors, and Hotel California sound better played at room filling volume level . It's fun playing vinyl... takes me back to some of the most memorable times in my life.

Easy morning, helped SWMBO with her cats.  No golf today going to outside gym shortly.

Got bad news last night, our daughter’s dog 15 years old has to be put down this morning with kidney disease.  She a really nice dog that grew up with my granddaughters who are understandingly upset.  Both Gkids are not home one at Providence College the oldest living in Bethesda and interning at National Institutes of Health and can’t go with their parents and pup.  
Pup was a riot whenever we FT with the family she joined right in and wanted us to talk to her.  She will be missed.

Catching up on posts from yesterday and the pics of the vacationers.  So who else thought of a new marketing plan for Windsor Castle.... add an Upper Deck Golf style feature to the top of that wall hitting to a green on that pristine lawn??  Think of the $$, er pounds, that could be made.  Have one of those soldier guard dudes tending the flag.  That fuzzy hat will protect him from getting beaned!  

Another million dollar idea from yours truly availlable for the world to take advantage of and not send me a single dime!  I am like that character in Night Shift, does that date me or what.

I sold my vinyl collection about 15 years ago via ebay to a guy in  ukraine.  I got it to a shipping facility outside Phila to be included with a lot of other stuff in a shipping container.  There were a lot of OMR's and collectible color vinyl limited pressings.  I often wonder if he and the stuff he collected have survived the war.
