Good morning Spies,

Uppa with a cuppa. It’s a rainy day in Central NY. Being a fair weather golfer, my morning round will be postponed. Awakened at 5am to the sounds of a vomiting dog. I can report that the missing squeaker from the dog toy has been found.  

I bit of homemade sourdough toast will be breakfast. 

Happiest of birthdays to @BIG STU and @poprocksncoke May you shoot yourbage next time out.

@Northern Monkey looks like an epic trip with the whale sightings.

Best wishes to our southern Spies with the arrival of Hurricane Helene. Stay safe.

Moved all outdoor furniture indoors took a short walk this morning.  Rain bands are starting and the TV weather talking heads are going nuts!  HAD 2 doctors appointments today and they’re moved to tomorrow.

Bit foggy and humid outside this morning. Windows were covered in condensation from it when I got up. Just a little reminder of what's coming later today and for the next few days. I do hope everyone down in the SE is prepared for the impending storm. Prayers for all who will be affected in one way or another.

Nothing much happening here other than work. My virtual TPI assessment is later this afternoon. Should be interesting if nothing else. Curious to learn what it's about and how it goes. I'll look at doing a write up afterwards as well as an ongoing one if I do the program that follows.

Good morning Spies! Hope those in the path of Helene are battening down. The Casa isn't in the direct path but NWS is warning of possible tornadoes in our area as a result, which are no fun either. I'm reminded of one time when I was living in the Houston area they issued an evacuation order for an approaching hurricane, and we got the heck out of Dodge, driving north (which was a 12-hour-plus ordeal) to stay with family in Arkansas. Turned out the hurricane turned north into Louisiana first, we got nothing of significance in Houston, but Arkansas got all kinds of tornadoes from that storm. Also, probably just as well I had to leave the assignment in South Carolina early; that area is very close to Helene's path too, and I would have still been there today.

Hoping work allows me to join the Community Call. I remember Mike Nicolette when he was playing on Tour 40 years ago before he got into golf club design, first with Ping then PXG.

Happy birthday to @BIG STU and @poprocksncoke! As it happens, the next page gets torn off the personal calendar one month from today.

@Cfhandyman fun book! Still holding out hope that some day I'll get promoted to grandpa, but it doesn't look likely.

@sirchunksalot on the way home from South Carolina I drove past the BMW factory in Spartanburg and thought of that other German auto plant. I've seen that one from the road too. I read that BMW has 11,000 employees there; that's sure a boost to the local economy.

Not much golf around here lately. In addition to the balky shoulder (MRI on Sunday), my right bicep is acting up down by the elbow. No idea what I did to cause that. I'm loading up both areas with Icy Hot before going to bed so I can get some sleep.

If you can, hit 'em straight and putt 'em straighter!

Good morning! My morning is filled with meetings, but my afternoon is looking fairly mild. 

On the golf front, a friend messaged me yesterday and we were able to work it out to get out for 9 holes together. He's a lot of fun to play with because he's fairly new to golf and when he started, he was happy with a round in the mid-50's. Now, he's upset about a round in the mid-40's. So every now and then I have to remind him how much better he's gotten!

This may sound bad, but I completely forgot to write up my review on the Bridgestone Mindset balls. I found the box in my basement before the round yesterday, so I decided to take them to the course and make sure my mind hasn't changed on them. So, I'll be posting in the Bridgestone Mindset thread later today with my thoughts!

Good morning!

A wet run this morning as some rain moves through the area. It has been a while since I went out in the rain, but it was not too bad today.

Quiet morning otherwise as work is rolling on and the kids work through some school work. Probably more cleaning and organizing to come as we have been doing a much needed clear out as the kids are getting older and pairing down the toys they actually play with.

Good morning spies! heading over to Superstition Springs golf club in a few minutes for a round on a dried out course. The 'Springs can be a brutal hard course with postage stamp kidney shaped greens, deep grass holes around the greens, and concrete sand bunkers. But, I like it a lot. It has been hot this week so it should be pretty brown. I will get a few pics.

Played the Wild Bunch game yesterday. It was 3 man teams score net balls in reverse cha,cha,cha -that is hole 1 score 3, hole 2 score 2, hole 3 score 1 then repeat through the 18 holes. My team tied for first after giving back 8 strokes on the back nine. On our last hole one of my team had a stroke and birdied the hole for a net 2 and I birdied it for my only birdie and a gross/net 3 and put us back in the money.  I shot a fine 36/41 for a 4 over 77.

Looking out the window and wishing I could get on the course today still damp out there but not nearly as damp as it has been the last few days. Went to a financial aid seminar for HS students last night and that was not so fun in that 1 there is a lot to fill out and 2 my first little buddy is almost out of HS granted he's only a junior but I don't want to be here at this stage I want to go back to when all my guys were 4 feet tall and under. It happens to everyone I guess and he isn't into sports but went to ride aling with me last week and chatted me up the whole time, so I think I'll take him along to make some more of those memories. Damn wasn't planning on being sad as I posted this. Well enough of that Presidents cup starts today so I'll follow that for a bit and definitely won't be lurking here all day while "working" lol. have a great day all and hit em straight if you get out today!

60 has been in the rear view mirror for a while now. Turned 67 today with the back and shoulder of an 80 year old. Still I soldier on even though I was in the Navy. 50 years ago today I woke up in Navy boot camp in Orlando Florida. LOL one other guy and myself had to legally wait until after midnight to be sworn in after we were 17. Had the base OOD swear us in. 

Man I'll forgive you the joining the Navy (Proud Puddle Pirate here) because that is an awesome enlistment story! Probably the coolest I have heard! What was the mood of the OOD administering the OOE to you guys if you remember?

PXG call looks promising for afternoon

Morning Spies! Weird couple of days.

Yesterday, building was out of power, so worked from home. Youngest (almost 1yo) was cranky and clingy all day, not eating much, very much not himself. Into the evening, ended up vomiting with a small fever. Gave him some Tylenol and snuggles before bed. Ended up sleeping through the night and woke up much more himself, no fever, no more vomiting. Wife took him to his Pediatrician to make sure it wasnt an ear infection. All's good with him. 

I had my own Dr appt today and looking on getting on some SSRI to help with some issues im dealing with. Looking forward to being ok again, something I havent know for quite a while. 

Weather may or may not hold for some golf tomorrow, so we'll see.

It is a beautiful morning in the Ozarks, with the current temp at 75°.  This morning, I walked 18 and this afternoon I get to be a PE coach....a very enjoyable day for this old retired guy.

Good afternoon Spies - had to come home early from a business trip due to the impending hurricane (currently projected to head right into the heart of Atlanta).  Hoping we don't get too much damage here in the city.

Soooo I am bored today. In order to mitigate the boredom I decided to take some swing weight measurements. My Epic is a C0, my Paradym is a D4, my Callaway Mini AI is a D4, my 5 hybrid is a C6, and my 7iron is a D3. Yeah, bored. 

What’s good to know is that I like the D3/D4 weight, but can play the C weight. Honestly though, I think some weight correction parts are in my future.

We ended up cancelling todays Testers Wanted - it was for the First Class Travel bag by CaddyDaddy. It is a great product (I have one), but the timing just didn't suit and our previous travel bags have got little to no attention. So rather than doing that we I am going to put it out here, if you are travling in the next month for a golf trip, send us a note and we can see if it is suitable for you to do a review on the product.

Landlord emailed us with a reminder to secure outdoor items that might fly around in heavy winds (or a tornado) thanks to Helene. We have plenty of that kind of thing in the back yard. So right now my garage sim is filled with those outdoor items.

Yeah that call should be solid and I’m writing a note after I type this message to not forget! I’m really interested in the PXG stuff just have never tried any as there isn’t a PXG brick and mortar here in NE Ohio. I’m sure it’s great but I don’t want to buy and hope! Strategy really never works out when it’s Hit and Hope for me lol.

Any chance you might weight the Mini BRNR? I’m curious on my end and have no access to the measuring tools at my desk lol. Also how does the Callaway mini compare to the TM? I didn’t get a chance to test out a callaway mini before they were all gone around these parts

There is a PXG fitting location in Twinsburg (1899 Indoor Golf); I would think that would qualify.

When I got fitted, the fitter put me on TM Stealth fairway woods, 3 and 7w. I bought the set as money was available; the 7-wood was last on my list and by that time TM was out of Stealth 7s and wasn't going to make any more, as the next update was in production. So I took the specs of that fitting and ordered a PXG 7w. Glad I did. That PXG is my second favorite club in the entire bag. The Stealth 3-wood? Not so much. That may be the next candidate to be relegated from my bag.

Funny you should ask because I just finished measuring the BRNR !! Sooo the BRNR is a D3 with the stock shaft and the Newton 5 Dot that’s the same length as the stock shaft. The Callaway mini is very similar in weight with the Steadfast with the length at 43 1/2” which was a D4. With the Tensi 1K TX it was a C4. That’s very significant. With the Ventus Velecore 6-X it is D0. I just put that shaft in to test how it feels, but again significantly lighter. I’m thinking of ordering some tungsten stick on weights or ask the tire shop for a couple stick on weights to see if I can get it to D4 with the Velicore. Otherwise the steadfast goes back in. I don’t mind the steadfast, but want to see how the Velicore performs. I also built a Tensi Orange yesterday for it. Just waiting for it to dry. It’s ready today so I’ll measure real quick.

I enjoyed the start of the Presidents Cup.  Let’s hope the Internationals can keep it close.  The US team looks strong, if you look at World Rankings, but the Internationals have a lot of experience…

 I'm late to the party again. It's been a hectic week for me at work, assigning officials to basketball games and officiating myself. Keep it in the short stuff!
