Popular Post jbern
Good morning! Last night I was woke up by kids at 0100, 0225, 0335 and 0540. Thankfully I have the ability to fall back asleep quickly, but I am dragging today. I have my yeti full of coffee ready to go and support my meetings today. I was hoping to get to a golf course today, but it rained a little last night and I think it was enough to keep them closed for the day. Have a good day everyone! @Josh Parker - The hot tub looks awesome! Popular Post Dead Solid Bogey
On 2/21/2024 at 4:03 AM, Dead Solid Bogey said: Very early Wednesday morning my spies and the week’s weather just keeps getting better. Today’s high is expected to break 80°. The AAA’s have “ acquired “ the desired tee time and even for us sloooow elderly, we should be done around noon. Yesterday’s round was a mixture of a few highs, more lows, and a majority of meh..when it came to shot outcomes. As a group, after solving all the world’s problems by the third hole, we got deadly serious and talked golf as we played. Three of us were part of the shellacking that was administered to us by the youngsters on Monday, in regards to that beat down, the topic of course yardage came up. We were pretty evenly divided on what was the better advantage for the elderly elite; placement or total yardage ( e.g. harder hazardous shot or significantly longer shot ). Some of us play in the same tournaments around the state.. One track has NO designated senior tees an adds 818 yards over what we play at our home course. In the past most of us finished middle of the road scoring wise. However we are definitely sliding down the leaderboard as the years go by. Another track is 561 yards longer than our course with horrendous yardage needs in many possible hazard scenarios. Some of us do rather well there and some us are just horrendously hazardous, very few.. meh outcomes. There is a tree infested course way north of us that I no longer play that between the additional yardage and yardage hazard placements; I would have a better outcome playing in an ice hockey league for the elderly and all I know about ice is that it keeps my drinks cold. At the end of the round, we all pretty much decided it was a lot easier to solve the world’s problems than it was to come to any degree of consensus on golf topics. May this half way point of the week bring you all positive outcomes for the day. Happy 3 score, 3 years plus a day, Birth Anniversary to @EasyPutter and in celebratory honor of @Josh Parker and family’s new “ Hot Tub “ I decided to make this while preparing my adult “ solid food “ type meal……. I made a bacon and egg “ Hot Tub “ for my toast people. The family’s female adult supervisory authority just came into the kitchen and took one look at my creation and shook her head and left… It is going to be a GREAT DAY, I can just feel it. YIKES! and double YIKES !!… APOLOGIES and REVISIONIST TIME: I just noticed that I some how managed NOT to upload my version of the “ Bacon and Egg Hot Tub “ The only picture that made the post was the one that I was trying to replicate. Popular Post buckpillar
Morning MGS Nation! Off to the airport to pick up my daughter coming home from Orlando, starting to rain and expected to have some winds roll in later on. Got out yesterday for 9 holes at the CC, I had a good day striking the ball but didn't score well. My strength is around the green but that let me down yesterday, some bad chips.. UGH!!! but my putting was spot on, 4 one putts and and 5 two putts. MY putting is consistently getting even better since the AI came into my hands. Hope everyone has a great day and Hittem Straight! Popular Post fixyurdivot
Top of the pot spies! Enjoying cup number 2 and mostly over the sting of yesterday's collosal crash. After a clean 38 front, I carded a 47 on the back in men's league . It all started on #10 when a pulled drive hit a tree about 100 yards out. Not seeing it, I hit a provisional - a beauty (isn't that always the case?) . I found ball #1 at the base of the tree on dirt, with an exposed root an inch away, and my swing follow through restricted. I managed to get it back on the fairway, leaving me about 130 yards. Shorted the approach, shorted the chip and 2-putted for a DB. I then played hole 11 (#1 handicap) to perfection but missed the 6 foot putt for birdie. On #12 I crushed the drive, thought it cleard the knoll on the left and would be in position A... only to find it had rolled back down into the waste bunker area and into a small area full of cart tracks/depressions. That yieled a wayward shot left, nearly OB and blocked by tree branches. This script continued the rest of the way... pars with DB and one TB bookends . That was the worst nine I've played in about a years time. But on a positive note, I installed the new ceiling fan in the living room yesterday afternoon and, having installed the new chandelier in the dining room a few days ago, completed my honey-doo list. However, "my-do" list will likely include some range and pitching practice after I get back from the gym. Have a great day whatever you have planned . Popular Post Shrek74
Good morning Spies, and happy Thursday!! Another chilly (albeit not as bad as the last few mornings) but sunny morning. It's supposed to rain today, but that would require a complete change in what I'm seeing out my window. My app says rain will arrive around 3pm today, which is better I suppose to it actually raining all day like originally thought. But then rain on and off Friday and Saturday. Hopefully I can get out and walk one of our courses here on Sunday if it isn't raining then. Nothing earth shattering to report this morning. Set for a PXG fitting in May and waiting to see if any Club Champion deals come up with that $100 full bag fitting or whatever. It's one of the only other full service options I have reasonably close (within 50 miles) and I don't want to go multiple hours away. Work is, well work. Retirement is at least still 11 years away if I can make early retirement work, yet I'm already thinking about it. That's not a good thing, I don't think. It is what it is though. Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! Off to picking in just a few minutes. The season is winding down to the end. So far we have picked close to 4 ton of citrus out of these yards. Not bad for a geriatric crew of about 20 people. We have 4 places left to pick and then we are done for this year. And, it has been a very tasty year. Tried something different in the round yesterday. Tried to play smart. Picking my spot to land with more clarity. Choosing to give up distance for accuracy is an odd concept to this grip it and rip it golfer. Worked out though. Posted 4s and 5s on 17 of 18 holes yesterday. 1 seven on a par 3. Hooked the ball into a tree that sent it out of bounds. One birdie on a par 5. Was a good day. Dead Solid Bogey
Thursday morning my MGS friends; may those joining the community call have no issues joining the call. I don’t know if it is the “ latest “ update to IPhones or if the AT&T contagion has spread to other elements of their network. Having an extraordinarily hard time posting pictures yesterday and today…. More than likely it is just operator error. Hoping today is the day to break the streak of a week of poorly played golf. As bad as my near whipping by a whippersnapper was on Monday, the rounds of the last two days and have been a preview of what golf in HELL might be like. What game I have from 100 yards in, including the flat stick, is horridly horrific. Hoping to be able to channel the “Elderly” ability to forget recent events and start afresh and renewed. Although there is little doubt that my playing “ pals “ will relish in reminding me of my recent poor results. May you all have a good Thursday that includes working phones.. Popular Post tdroma98
Good Late Thursday Morning Spies! 46 degrees at 7am tee off. No wind and clear skies, made for a great 18 hole walk. No driver or 3 wood played today. Worked on iron game & new TS2 19 degree rescue. Fun round. High today will be 75 degrees. Tomorrow a bit warmer. Finally, we might be experiencing warmer Florida weather! Experiencing 1st cup of hot espresso, right now! Have a Great Day Everyone! Stay Warm & Hit'em straight.
