Good morning Spies,

Enjoying my cuppa looking out on freshly fallen snow here in Central NY. I mailed my club membership check and kind of itching to get on the course again but we are about 3 months out from that occurring. Love seeing the club embargoes ending. I’m really intrigued by the Callaway Ai Smoke fairway woods. Not gonna lie, I’m a bit envious of @cnosil but appreciate the reporting.

I will be checking in on the Sentry TOC later today. Having played the course, this tournament always gets my attention. I love hole number 8 a par 3. The day I played it, the starter said it was a two club wind which meant 3 wood for me.

I have a Rukket and it’s really good. It held up well but it will wear out. I like the bigger size and for the price it was a great deal. The Spornia also has my eye as I look for either a new one or just get a replacement net for the Rukket.

Good morning, Spies!

I walked 18 holes yesterday, and for the most part, I was happy with my ball striking, even though I was layered up with winter gear.

most definitely.   I was just walking around picking everything up.  As a putter guy, I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the models they have for this years testing.

Happy lifting of the embargoes season! @sirchunksalot, I too watched no fewer than 3 videos about the Ai Smoke TD last night and I gotta admit I’m intrigued. Also, sending positive vibes for your weenie dog. As our old friend Tucker is up here living out his last days as comfortably as we can make him, I certainly understand. 
 

If you haven’t checked out the Forum social media accounts, I highly recommend you do so. We are currently giving away 4 dozen Odin X1 golf balls. As @Javs, @fredsharky, and the other testers will attest, these balls are LEGIT!

Lastly, I hope to see you all on the community call this afternoon. You never what sort of shenanigans will ensue, so tune in.

Good morning spies!

Cold and winter is definitely here in central Ohio. No golf for a bit so it would seem (unless E6 or Sim golf).

One more day to go before the weekend. Fighting a bit of a cold brought on by exposure to my grandkids who harbor most every variant of virus and bacteria known to man. They always leave my immune system in shock after a visit. We have the community call tonight then it is off to band practice! Had a nice break but back at it to prepare for some upcoming gigs. Always a nice time with the group.

Today is National Trivia Day - so I’ll ask the question…. Which US golfer is known as Mr. 59? (see below)

 

 

Al Geiberger was the first to post a 59 in a PGA Tour sanctioned event. I got to play with Al about 10 years ago. That was one of the last times I played before leaving the game for a while due to back pain.

Al is 86 now and still hits them far. Nice slow, smooth swing. The day we played was a record hot 114 in the valley. We had to stop a few holes short because one of our foursome started to get heat exhaustion.

Good morning all.... as @GolfSpy_APH said... it's release season!  While I don't always buy into the hype of every club (I do realize I'm not going to gain 17 yards this year unless I pickup club head speed) I am a sucker for a good tech story.  I love to read about why OEMs did what they did and how they expect it to be better than previous equipment.  

And it's a good thing I'll have some reading to do too... because this is on it's way Sunday:

Good morning spies. I spent a number of years just lurking on this site and had no idea what the community call is/was. Time to find out. I also avoid social media like it is something nasty I might step in, but the chance at trying new golf balls might just drag me back in. 

Cool and wet here in Mesa this morning. Rained last night and the course will be cart path only. Okay for me because I mostly walk, but that will limit golf play for a lot of the seniors living in our +55 neighborhood. 

Played the best round of golf in months yesterday! Earned me some cash from the men's club. Best of all it was really a fun day to be golfing!

The community call varies.  Sometimes there is a special guest that will give us a little more in-depth info on their product line.  Other times is is just a bunch of golf enthusiasts BSing about golf, the forum, and life…basically putting a face to the people we talk to daily on the forum.    And while I say “putting a face to a name” there is no requirement to speak or turn on your camera; typing a message in the chat or just listening is perfectly acceptable…. I should probably mute myself more during the call

Good morning everyone, well this weather has us in The Villages Florida pulling down our weather curtains on our carts and firing up heaters , putting on long pants and long sleeve attire 44° this am with a 15 mph NW wind . Feels much more north than usual ! Played yesterday and wind was pretty minimal though day started at 40° , today is plain nasty but think I’ll go hit a bucket later as it gets to middle 50’s, after all I am retired and can bundle up , may all have a great day , be excellent in your endeavors and be blessed

Send it up here the cross country ski season has been tough so far a nice base layer would be so welcomed. The bog near our house just froze up so some skating and hockey on the docket. Golf is a long way off so snow now and then stop in March so we can get back to golf by early April

Good morning all!

Exciting time for golf fans with all of the new releases getting announced. Callaway seems to be starting the season hot with the Ai Smoke lineup and new balls as well. This might be a hot take, but I think I actually like the look of the Paradym more... something about that blue and gold combo (maybe being a Notre Dame alum has something to do with it ) is hard to beat.

Also very excited for the Sentry tournament to start this afternoon. With college football coming to an end next week, I'll be trying to consume as much golf content as possible to live vicariously through the pros while I'm stuck inside.

Not sure if anyone saw, but there's a Barstool Sports employee trying to make a hole-in-one on a simulator and he's been unsuccessful so far after about 36 hours  I'd be interested to see how long it would take some of the Spies to complete the task.

Looking forward to the Community Call this afternoon to distract me from a very busy workday.

The end of the college football season is always a sad week for me.   Those 13 or 14 weeks go by so quickly, then it's a whole 7 months until it starts up again.  I live in Maryland, so we don't have a team where the Spring Game draws 80,000 fans  

But yes, there will be plenty of new releases to watch and learn about over the next month, so there is that.

Jersey Jerry is pulling big names to watch. I honestly think it would take me just as long possibly. I find it funny they said he had to sleep in the simalutor lol

Good Thursday Morning Spies! 

Chilly, cloudy & misty rain Central Florida morning.  Started out about 61 degrees at 7am tee time, not bad.  Then temps dropped & misting rain ensued for the next hour.  Even saw my breath while walking from 9th hole to 10th hole.  If Northern Spies can tough it out, so can Floridians! LOL.  Nice 18-hole walk though. 

Home now enjoying a nice HOT cup of espresso. Working from home today, so no travel. 

@GolfSpy BOS looking at your map, I don't miss the New England winters, especially since I used to live about where the "T" is, in the word "Most".  Most Likely meant a lot of snow! LOL.

Update for anyone interested:

Jersey Jerry finally made the hole-in-one after 2,627 attempts lasting 37 hours, 2 minutes and 10 seconds (including sleeping in the simulator overnight). Golf social media is collectively losing their minds

Thursdays are not only Friday Eve but they are also community call days! Planning on making this one guys so I am just crossing my fingers work doesn't throw a monkey wrench into my plans. Also reading through some of the new release info which is just cruel punishment and mockery for my pocketbook. LOL

My snow shoes and cross country skis are saying, “WTH!” Last year I was only able to get out a couple of times. We had almost half of our normal snowfall.

Yeah we are lucky to live near a fancy private school that actually makes snow on a pretty good sized loop but it is not the same and can get icy fast. As of right now though that storm is predicted to drop 6 to 10 inches around here so that would be sweet, and then might get some more next week as well. Here's hoping, nothing fun to do outside when its 40 and raining.

Good morning/afternoon! Rained overnight in coastal NC, now beautiful, sunny and 50ish. Wish I could be out on the course or the range, but work says otherwise. Then over the weekend that big storm is coming through here. Don't think there will be anything frozen but a lot of rain expected.

Good Morning everyone!!  Limited internet here in the hospital so keep it short.  I had 2 heart attacks yesterday and nice ride in an ambulance… bypassed ER directly to an OR.  Two stents later and no sleep, I’m cranky.  Get to come back in 2 weeks for more.  No golf!!  Hopefully, I’ll be able to make our trip to Palm Springs in mid-February.

Will checkin again when I get home tomorrow.  Sad!!

Been a busy start to the day and got a great workout in on the treadmill over lunch. Looking forward to the community call and undoubtedly discussing the new Paradym Ai Smoke .

That's scary, Kenny and I'm glad they got you taken care of. I don't blame you for being a bit cranky. I hope you can get well enough to make your trip in Feb.
