I would like to say it has been an uneventful morning here, but currently at the local hospital emergency room as SWMBO had a fall at her sisters house and hit her head on a wooden cabinet and now requires some stitches to close up the wound. All that happened without anyone having any alcoholic beverages. Once I get out and back home it will be bedtime so I thought to get this out of the way before tomorrow afternoon if I get the sleep normally needed. Hope your day and start to the New Year is all you want and need it to be, and something enjoyable is in your plans. Dang it Bobby! Popular Post ParFore74x
Good morning spies and a happy New Year to all of you! Last day of an extended time away from work which was much needed. Hopefully I’ll be able to return to waking up at 4am from my 7:30 that last few days. I think that today’s plans are to just clean up around the house in preparation to life returning to the normal day to day agenda. @rkj427, I hope that everything goes well for your wife. Popular Post EasyPutter
Good morning MGSpies from a slight dusting of white stuff after midnight on this first day of 2024 (wow almost bent a finger typing that date) in a still frozen WNY the magic elixir in the mug helping keep spirits bright on the eve of the first day of work for 2024 (ouch I'm not sure I'm risking dislocation or sprain reaching for the 4 key) and will be interesting to see what today has in store. Serious note first for healing and all good things for Mrs. Rob @rkj427 and maybe healing involves the spirits not involved in the injury. Have to admit some envy for @William P and the new setup with beautiful outdoor weather I know does not last for you in TX, enjoy the great not hot temps - and let us know how long it takes for a stray shot to hit one of those ornate balloons Thanks for the 2023 (oh that was easy to type) rollup Jamie @GolfSpy_APH hoping it challenges those not on the scroll to get on it for 2024 (have to look for the 4 key) and encourages everyone to consider the in-person experiences as I can attest somehow managing to slip the expense into a tight budget has payoff well worth the indentured servitude that (might) be part of the deal with SWMBO not saying anything really Hope golf is a part of your day! Popular Post Kenny B
Happy New Year everyone!! Best wishes for a great 2024 golf game. Wondering how many couples got married yesterday on New Year's Eve; they could say their wedding date is 12-31-23. I am glad 2023 is over after my round yesterday. I wouldn't call it golf; more like getting some exercise. We never saw the sun and temp didn't reach 40º. I walked with my push cart; took my MGS Jones Bag out of play because the ground is wet and filled with goose poop, and I didn't want to get it dirty. According to my Garmin S62 watch I logged 13,243 steps with my wife and one other player at our par 72 muni in 3 hours and 15 minutes. Today is another round that will likely be similar; I'm looking at it as the start of my weight loss program for the year. Free gym membership starts tomorrow!!! Oooo cold days like that are good in some ways and bad in others. The good is the 3 hour 15 minute round where the course is essentially yours. The bad is the extra two hours it takes to get warm again once you get home. Oh yeah... goose grease on a green? Can you say Nasty?! Good morning spies, and happy new year! Phoenix is featuring a thermal inversion this morning and the smoke from last nights fireworks is still hanging thick in the air and not a breath of wind. Air quality according to Accuweather is 142 and in the unhealth category, so the wife is staying in doors today. So Saturday's golf practice survived Saturday night's sleep and reappeared on the range on Sunday. We shall see if it translates to the course this afternoon! Dead Solid Bogey
Day one of the New Year my friends. First things first… @rkj427 hope your lady is recovering and not in to much pain. @Josh Parker hope the fireworks just woke the little one and did not scare her. @unccross you got this.. Just stay away from any cranky old men with diminished social skills. SOUCRE: Hanging with me has not translated into a lot of C-suite gigs for my mentees. On the topic of fireworks; the commander of the Bride Bunch had me escort her to the public fireworks event celebrating the incoming year. When the fireworks had ended, the would be ruler of all things; looked at me and said… “ Make them do it again “… I informed her that regrettably for her, that her realm currently did not include the city. As you might expect, she was not pleased and she immediately added it to her never ending “ to do list “. Minor blow up during my round yesterday. The start was as bad as the previous round had been. In about 7 holes of the way through the front 9… I got an anonymous note from the bag concerning a job slowdown instigated by the Edison’s. I had a quick discussion with the bag and pointed out that it was hard to tell if the Edison’s were engaged in a work action, considering they had done so little positive work. This was a “Aha moment”for the rest of the bag, the bag quickly agreed to go back to work. Needless to say the back 9 actually looked a lot better with acceptable results. All in all, it was a great end of the golfing year… with a wonderful weather day, with fabulous fun people and it was still golf, even if at times it didn’t look like it. No golf to start the year. The wife person is having me close at hand to do some grunt labor that she has planned. May this New Year be everything that you and those you care about and that care about you, want it to be. Popular Post ZoonORama
Happy 2024 MGS! Had a relaxing evening at home and fell asleep on the couch. Both my wife and dog enjoyed the extra room in bed without me. Coffee was hot this morning while a slight dusting of white death lay about the yard. Hitting mat cleared, I’ll try to hit a few once it warms to 38 or so. @rkj427 hope everything turns out fine. Will be thinking about you and your family. Time of year to help the hunters get sighted in for muzzle loader season. Seems all the young guys use me as a ballistics calculator. “If I sight in at 50 yds., how much do I add for a 200 yd shot?” - Well, that depends on load and weight. So, spent the morning doing math for a group. They were surprised to hear me say 200 yds is too far for the load they chose. I doubt they will even see any deer the way they stomp around in the woods. Like a herd of Sasquatch (herd, gaggle, not sure what you call’em). I want to thank @GolfSpy_APH for all the continued work and effort that goes into providing this platform. I look forward to the community calls every week. Also, congratulations to @GolfSpy_BEN for a well deserved slot with MGS too! Lastly, if you find this forum and platform useful, please consider donating to MGS. It takes only a few minutes to do and every dollar you give helps maximize the knowledge and opportunities for everyone. I have gained so much knowledge this past year from MGS, I can’t even tell you. I base my buying decisions off of the real world tests from the people I trust (and can actually TALK to on here). So, if you can afford to help out a little, please consider doing so. Set a golf goal and make 2024 the year you achieve it! rkj427
Good afternoon and THANK YOU to all the Spies for their kind words, and thoughts. We got back home from the ER about 5:30AM, so yesterday was truly a long day for me, as I typically am up and on the move about that time. They performed a cat scan to make sure there was nothing damaged internally, stitched her up (6 stitches) and gave her a tetanus shot, wrapped it all up and made sure she could move around without any issues before sending us on our way. She is still currently still asleep, but I need to make sure I am on a somewhat normal schedule for my back to work Tuesday I am so not looking forward too!
