Wild times at the top of my bag

Reviewing my stats from last year made me start to think about my 2 iron: sure, it’s a reliable tee off club, but what else can it do? After tracking my attempts with it off the deck, I started looking at 5 woods. Surprisingly, I hit the stealth plus 5 wood best. So, after a gapping session, I noticed that the average carry distance between it and my 3 wood(ping g410 LST) were identical. So naturally, I decided to loft up my 5 wood and no good: starting hooking it off the planet. Adding the loft closed the face too much for me. So I thought, “what if I loft up my 3 wood?” So I put it into the big + configuration(16 degrees) and voila! But how I’m hitting a 19 degree stealth’s 12 yards farther than a 16 degree ping is beyond me. So essentially the stealth 5 wood is my 265 club and the ping 3 wood is my 245 club. Golf’s wild…

Amazing. Bet you could have some fun with your playing crew going over that and how it works.

What are the lengths of the shafts? Any weight positions?

The Ping 3 wood is the LST model: 42 inch Fujikura speeder shaft.

The stealth 5 wood is the plus model: 40.5 inch Hzrdus smoke yellow shaft. Originally I had a 42 in smoke red RDX shaft in the the stealth, and I figured going shorter in shaft length would calm it down…. It didn’t, but it did fix my dispersion.

From I've gathered from video and personnal testing etc... the Stealth woods are extremely long from what I've seen, low launch + low spin for a lot of players. I've hit both the G425 3 wood and the stealth one and for me stealth had a good 10 yard farther but they were low bullet compared to a more higher trajectory for the g425. I ended up with the G425 and still not sure if it was the right decision for me. I'd check if you are still consistent with both out there. If you are, numbers are numbers and they generally don't lie, if you're gapping is weird in between your 3 wood and hybrid/irons, I'd swap one of the 2 wood, probably the 410 lst for another stealth and it should be back to normal.

So I’ve begun to track it from practice to practice: my thought being that perhaps I had just been in a weird place swing-wise for a session or two. But it keeps shaking out the same way…
