PXG XCOR2 or Sub70 699 v2?

Hey everyone.  I'm looking to invest in some new clubs for the first time in 15 years. I was sold on PXGs and want the Gen5s but the XCOR2 is a much better fit budget wise. I've seen a lot of chatter on here about Sub 70 and I'm intrigued by the 699 v2. Thoughts?

I haven't hit the XCOR2 irons but I did try a set of Gen 5 PXG XP's, which are pretty much the same specs.  For my swing, the XP's launched way too low.  I would guess the same would be true of the XCOR2.  However, if you hit the ball high with a lot of spin, they might work for you.  One option you might consider is ordering a set of XCOR2's from pxg express on ebay.  That is what I did to try the XP's.  If you don't change the loft or lie on the clubs, you can return them within 30 days for a full refund minus return shipping.  You can also order the Sub 70 demo irons and be able to compare the two side by side with a minimal outlay of money.

Thanks for the input and advice. Gets a little tricky when both brands are direct to customer. I do hit the ball high so could work. I qualify for the Heroes discount through PXG so was planning on buying through that program but I'll look into the ebay recommendation and the demo irons from Sub70.

@Hook DeLoft Thanks again for the info. Just ordered exactly what I was looking for from PXG Express via eBay. The only concern is the club lie which I should be able to have adjusted.

Funny coincidence - I'm in a similar situation... Been playing the 0211s and this season decided I wanted to see if I could find something "better" for my swing / game.

Full disclosure not exactly sure what "better" means in this case, but something along the lines of maybe a little more distance and/or a little more forgiveness and/or a little tighter dispersion...

Been trying a few different clubs and just received a demo pair of Sub 70 699 V2's! Have not had the chance to try them yet .. but after opening the box and admiring the nice packaging .. took the 9i out of the box, removed the bubble wrap headcover and .. was actually surprised at how much more GI-looking they are vs what I'd thought they were ... but for me this is good!

Results TBD.....

K.. after one range session I can honestly say I love the 699 V2's!

..and that's with a heavier steel shaft vs the lighter graphite that I play

But, otoh, I cannot say that they're significantly better enough vs my current 0211s to get me to switch right now.

Your results, of course, may differ so prob the best thing to do is order a demo from Sub 70 .. will cost you $20 after you return them .. and see what you think. Unfortunately PXG has no demo program, but check their website to see if there may be a club in your area that their sales rep visits and maybe you could demo them that way.

I have not hit the Sub 70s but have heard good things. I did, however, get fit for the PXG 0211 XCOR2 and love them. I tried them, the Paradym irons, Taylormade 770/790 and the Ping g430 and price aside I liked the PXG more. I was a PXG skeptic but now I’m telling everyone I know haha

YUpdate: I picked up a set of the 2022 0211 XCOR2s 5 through GW. So far I'm a big fan of them. I plan on doing a ln unofficial review of them at some point. Thanks for the input. I greatly appreciate it. Also picked up a 0311 Gen5 22 hybrid and am looking to pick up the 0311 Gen5 3 wood.

I play a mixed set of both brands.  Sub 70 699 v2 utility, PXG 0211 Xcor2 5-pw, Sub 70 gap and SW. All blacked out with MMT shafts. Love both brands.  And they both make great looking black irons that hold up to wear.  I could easily play all 699 v2 or 0211 irons.

How do you like the black irons? I thought about it but wasn't sure how I would like the look when I'm about to swing. Unfortunately, both brands are essentially direct to customer so it's harder to see without the investment. I know Sub has a test program but I love the military connection PXG has. My brother was a Marines and he was killed in action on July 27 2006.
