Fowler’s and Clark’s putter

Does anyone have the details on or, even better, a link to the Odyssey putter Fowler and Clark are using? It’s almost as if someone combined the two putters I have.

It is a tour only putter;  they did not sell the fullsize Jailbird in the Oworks line just the versa line and the versa line didn't have the microhinge insert.

 

Specs from Odyssey:

39” EOG   (this was cut down 1/8" at the US Open)

I'm making a facsimile one. No way that I would fork over a couple of hundred bucks on a putter (if it was available to us lowly golfers). Using a Ray Cook copy of a TM Spider, bumping the shaft out to accommodate that 17 inch grip, so it's actually a copy of a copy. The darn grip costs more than the putter, but I do like to tinker and I've seen several of those what I call semi arm lock on the both tours, so there must be something to them. If it seemingly works I'll give a review with pics.

I’ve often wondered why manufacturers would make something for tour players but not the masses. Isn’t that the reason they sponsor the players?

They sponsor the player to wear and play logos to get the masses to buy their stuff.   Scotty Cameron makes putters specific for players and putters for the masses.   The players are adjusting clubs to what they need to be able to achieve their best performance.   People are influenced by what the players are playing and walk into a store and buy the brand because a certain player plays the clubs.

My guess is with the microhinge face, it's likely the oworks head, although specced out to the head weight everyone is using with the lead tape. Smart release for them, even at that price they're going to sell a lot of them and it likely means Jailbird is back in play for the 2024 line.

To add to what cnosil said. The average golfer doesn’t know that what some of the players are using is a one off for that pro. Also why some companies like TM and Callaway have a made for ventus shaft with the same color design as the aftermarket one. Although TM did change it this year.

O works only came in jailbird mini for the public release.  They may have stock of a full size oworks like Rickie was using; CPO has been know to sell of non public released clubs so they may have some  and are going to capitalize.

Today's Golf Digest article, It's the hottest putter on tour—now Odyssey is releasing a limited number of them, suggests they're only going to sell 80 of them.

I think it's too expensive for this putter, but they announced that it's in the same spec as Rickie and Clark's -- Longer shaft, longer grip. prob heavier hence the name 380.  

So we norms are probably paying for the "Major winning putter" name.

It’s cheap for 1) a tour use putter and 2) a limited edition one.

Limited edition Scotty’s start at about $600 and they aren’t tour issue type. A tour only putter or in scotty terms Circle T start at $2500. There are limited edition scotty covers that are $350 retail and can go for a lot more depending on which one. 
 

If we just stay within the Callaway family of putters it’s cheaper than a toulon design standard putter.

anyone try to get on the preorder? I tried for a little while but the website seems to not be working well, my order would never go through. Was honestly picking one up likely just to resell it

I tried to pre-order one as well but like you I never got it to go through. Based on what I've seen on Twitter, everyone is having problems.

someone on twitter said 85, and then the golf digest article earlier in this thread said 80.. Not straight from Odyssey/Callaway so idk if I believe it, but if so KenRider and I got lucky

There is no reference to only 80 putters in the golf digest article that I can find

Thanks, missed it a bunch of times reading the article.   Order if there are multiple versions of the article.   
 

Im guessing it isn’t t that popular or the 80 number is wrong since you can still preorder the putter.

I won't be surprised if they email and say their website had an error and they were sold out before my order went through. The website was a mess.. I still haven't gotten a confirmation email either
