cjeffs12
I had a good/great round today, which is my last one before member/guest this week. My swing had felt so good, but just couldn’t get anything to fall on the front. Shot 39 on the front, and 1 under 35 on the back. I had 3 chip in birdies on the back, one from the bunker. I’m feeling pretty confident going into the MG, but I’m hoping to get some wedge practice in this week to get that more dialed. Josh Parker
Played a pretty good round today. Made a few simple mistakes, but overall hit the ball well from tee to green. My putting today was subpar and I was leaving everything 6-8in short but was online everytime. Best shot of the day was the 18th. Par 3, playing 192 today. I feel it plays slightly downhill but the wind was swirling. I hit my 6 iron with a high draw and was online for the flagstick enough for the playing partners were rooting it on. Ended up 10ft short and again left my putt just short. The 6 iron just felt great and did exactly what I wanted it to. cksurfdude, William P, Rob Person and 5 others 7 1 Quote Titleist GT3 11* Tensei 1k blue Titleist TSR2 4w 16* Titleist TSR2 5w 18.75* MKII ZX 5's (4-6) w/ KBS Tour V MKII ZX 7's (7-PW) w/ KBS Tour V Vokey SM9 Wedges 50* 54* 58* DF2.1 Putter
Popular Post TJ Hall
Today was a rough day on the course…shot a 92, but it was a struggle. Hit 1 fairway and 2 greens in regulation. Could not hit a consistent shot at all. Hit some beautiful shots…5 iron from 230 out that got to the green (was really just trying to lay up short after a terrible tee shot, caught a bit of a hill and got some roll) in addition to a couple others. Tee game was a mess, 2 way miss is not fun, and the worst part is I was not hitting anything right until out on the course. Alf. S
After a 3 week lay off after a small operation got back to it this week, didn't fare too well. Monday: 88 net 79 Wednesday: 85 net 76 Thursday: Greensome matchplay tie, strategy worked a treat, picked partners drive on every hole and I hit every green. Opponents conceded at 8th 7 down. Friday: Singles matchplay. Lost on the last. Game totally crashed; 3 up with 6 to play. Lost ball on 13, double bogey 14, 3 putt bogey 15 => all square. Won 16, thinned flop shot in to gorse at 17 lost ball, caught chip heavy on 18 into the bunker and thinned it out. I reckon for the last 6 holes I was 12 over. Saturday: was thinking about just going out for a hit and not playing in the competition but turns out if was the Senior Club Championship Qualifier Bit of a mess again 3 putt on 2, lost ball on 3, steadied the game thru the turn then crashed again. I do think my fitness is causing a problem and playing 5 games in 6 days was probably too much. The back 9 is the harder 9 but at the moment I can't break 40 on it. Shankopotomous
I am trending the right direction with a 73 in last nights round. The tee ball was all good except the first one which makes me wish I had hit about 1/2 dozen range balls instead of going right to the tee box. But what was really on target was approach shots and particularly wedge play. I had an average of 8' from the pin with the PW thru 57*. I made 5 birdies and had 3 other 5'ers miss on the low side, two from under reading the break and the third I didn't hit it firm enough to match speed with read. I really wanted to get an under par round and was even standing on the 16th tee. I got too aggressive on the 16th with a 20' downhill birdie putt and ran it 10' past for a 3 putt bogey. I gave myself two good looks at birdie on 17 (one of the 5'ers) and 18 with a 12' putt but was on the low side both times. Maybe by then I should have learned to aim higher?!?! I think the backyard wedge practice of about 50 balls every other day is paying off. Since the backyard green is extremely flat, I need more hours in the day to get to the course and practice green reading on putts with break. ejgaudette, Dweed, Rob Person and 5 others 7 1 Quote Modern Bag: G410 LST 10.5*, Hzrdus Smoke RDX 6.5 Flex; 915F 3w, Diamana S+ 70 S flex; Mavrik 18* 5w; JPX 919 HM Pro 4i; JPX 900 Forged 5 - PW, PX LZ 6.0; Edison 2.0 49*, 53*, 57* KBS Tour 120 S; Heppler Fetch; Ball - MTB-X; Bag - Jones MyGolfSpy Edition! Steve F
Played 18 yesterday after a great day on Saturday at the US Women's Open! The round was okay, didn't fare well on the front nine, but started off pretty well on the back, was standing at a 33 going into 17, then the wheels came completely off the cart. Got stuck in sand (really concrete in disguise...) that I couldn't get out of to save my life. The only good thing on 17 was I one putted to save a 9.... ugh. Then on 18, first two putts lipped out... just a frustrating way to end the back 9 when it was going half decently, trying to save an under 100 round. All good.... can safely say I'm getting used to the DF3 and enjoying using it as I become more comfortable with using it overall. The other nice thing on this round was the putting calmed down quite nicely from the total disaster is was on the front.... the work in progress continues! GolfSpy_KFT
Played 6 holes yesterday evening to the tune of +3, which is the best golf I can ever remember playing since I started 12 years ago. Had to stop after 6 holes because dinner was ready, I had my 4 year old out with me and it was a school night, but we had just a ton of fun. He's got a little fairway wood, 7/8 iron and putter, and I'll just toss a ball down for him once we get close to the green and let him fire away while I finish the hole. I enjoy rounds with my boys significantly more so than with friends my age, but have no shame in that. I have some friends that will join when I have them with, and some who ask me if I'll have one of the boys with me. When I tell them yes, they tell me they'd rather not play. Their loss IMO as my 7 year old plays from the PGA Jr. tees and keeps pace just fine. So I played holes 10-15, started out with bogeys on the first three and closed with three pars, including an up and down save on the par 3 15th after narrowly missing the green and needing a chip short sided. Got it to 5' and made the putt, which felt awesome. Highlight hole is outlined below as the Cobra Darkspeed X continues to impress as I get more comfortable with it. Had a milestone on this exact hole last week in league where I carried both fairway bunkers on the left to the tune of 272 total yards. Did it again and then some yesterday with a 284 yard BOMB that started and stayed directly on my intended target line. Just barely missed the putt for birdie after a subpar wedge onto the green and tapped in for par. Rain and a busy non-work schedule with my son's baseball team is going to prevent me from any more on course work before my buddies trip this weekend, so was happy to get some practice in. Hoping to log a range session over lunch on Wednesday just to keep the swing going as it currently feels great. cksurfdude, Rob Person, tdroma98 and 3 others 5 1 Quote Driver: GT3 9|Tour AD-UB 6S (testing in progress) Fairways: GT2 15 & 18|Tour AD-UB 7S (testing in progress) | Aerojet Max 7|Kai'Li White 70X Hybrid: King TEC 3H|MCA MMT 85g Stiff Irons: Aerojet 6-GW|KBS $-taper Lite Stiff Wedges: Vokey SM10 52.12F|56.12D|True Temper Vokey Wedge Flex Putter: Super Select Newport 2.0 Ball: Tour & ProV1 #LeftyGang Titleist GT Long Game Test (Link Here) Cobra 50th Anniversary Member Special Challenge (link here)
TJ Hall
After going back and looking at my stats from the last 3 rounds, it really is my tee game that is killing me! Round 1 5 FW, 8 Greens, 38 putts, 4 lost balls Round 2 4 FW, 7 Greens, 36 putts, 3 lost balls Round 3 1 FW, 2 Greens, 33 putts, 4 lost balls Also track if my tee shot sets me up decently (marked either as good or bad and is subjective…), but the numbers still aren’t great: D 45% good (used 29 times) 3W 17% good (used 5 times) 3H 17% good (used 4 times) Other (typical 4H or 5i) 67% good (used 4 times) Most of the lost balls were from tee shots, which does not help the situation. The putting seemed so much worse during the rounds, but had many putts that could’ve been made that weren’t. ejgaudette
Got out Saturday for a nice early morning round. It was a round that busted a number of trends for me. First off I was fighting the ball going left for the first time in a whole round in my life, to be fair this started a bit in the previous round, but still that was only 9 holes were I hit 3 drivers that went a bit left but nothing crazy. Second I think for the first time ever I gained strokes with my approach play. Some of this was luck given I hit a punch low around a tree on 7 to hit the green, I hit two thin shots that ran up onto the green and I hit the green on a 215 yard par 3, but still. I hit 12/18 greens and gained 0.04 strokes as nothing was really close. Had on approach inside 20 feet, a 12 footer on 14 that I left one revolution short of making. Most approaches ended up 30 feet or more away, in fact I had 4 that were 45 feet or more away, so lag putting was on and kept the round going. A couple tough drives led to negative strokes gained off the tee, but if I cleaned that up things would have really been rolling. Got up and down 3/6 times which was great including one was from 65 yards out, but threw in 1 three putt on a 65 footer down hill on the 8th. Went 38/37 for a 71 (+4) with no birdies. Overall was about level with strokes gained against a 0.0 so I will take that. Hope to build on that and keep using that 50 degree wedge I have loved as I used that a number of times and hit the green every time with it. We’ve been through a dry spell and to say the course was “parched” would be generous. Most of the greens were in very rough shape and the fairways were borderline dirt. But, my game doesn’t see the fairway that often, so the rough wasn’t bad. We didn’t bother with keeping score, just who lost the most balls. I lost one less, but I can’t complain. Good company, inexpensive round and I played okay for having a litany of aches & pains. Life ain’t bad. Ball striking a short game were good, but my lag putting let me down - 3 over, with 3 3-putts. Have a weekend golf trip coming up next weekend for my brother's bachelor party, so the game seems to be coming into form at the right time! How do you like arccos? Talk about a bounce back after an opening meltdown! Ever up right on my handicap. Today was a tee box miracle! Even when I missed a fairway, I had a line at the green all day. 77% Hit some great chips, a few darts from inside 120, and generally putted well. I think above all, the goldfish memory was in full effect. And today I got the good bounces. That's a thing. My goal this year was to put up some rounds in the low 80s. I'm supposed to be satisfied right? Not close! I can taste that 79. Anyways, golf is hard. Golf is fun. I feel blessed to be able to spend this perfect day out on the course. Wishing you all favorable bounces. B Congratulations! 8 hours ago, ejgaudette said: Got out Saturday for a nice early morning round. Longest drive at 286 Long par 3 at 221 that I pared Up and down for 65 The view shots Great round, you are close, I see a 79 or better coming soon! Great pics! NotScratchYet
Just want to share this past weekend's experience of playing a round of golf with my son. He is fairly new to the game but has been putting in the work and it all started to show this past weekend. We were hitting balls in the garage and he said "Wait, it's all in the timing at the top". The light bulb hit him and he has hit some amazing shots since. I generally play back tees and he plays the whites (his HS team plays from white tees). He outdrove me on 6 holes with most in the shortgrass. He is hitting his irons more pure than ever. Once we can dial in his rhythm on short game and putts he will be even better. We check our performance on the FS Mevo + and when he had this light bulb moment his club head speed increased by 12mph. I cannot fully explain why, or how but everything just clicked. With his newfound distance, he did lose a few balls this past weekend but that is just golf. It was just an amazing thing to witness when he "got" what we have talked about for a while now. One of the hardest things for me is to describe my "feels" in my swing, and translate it to him. Doing this while also telling him, his "feels" may be different than mine. -Hope everyone has a great week NSY Edited June 4 by NotScratchYet Michael.Sandoval33, cksurfdude, Dweed and 6 others 4 5 Quote Driver: Callaway Epic Irons: 4-PW Callaway Apex Wedges: 1 Vokey in 52, 1 Callaway in 60, and a Callaway in 56 Putter: All over the place, Titleist SC Circa 62 model 3 mostly in the bag. ce05krug
Not today, but my weekend round was a rough one. The past couple months I have been focusing on improving my game off the tee and had noticed solid improvement in my last few rounds. That went out the window this weekend as I completely fell into old bad habits of slicing, mishits, you name it. On a positive note it was one of my best rounds of iron play, even hitting my 6i over 190yd and my pw 150yd (which is unheard of for me). Let’s hope the continued practice translates into the next round Josh Parker, MattF, cksurfdude and 6 others 8 1 Quote Callaway apex 21 dcb irons Paradym driver & 6 hybrid / stealth2 4 hybrid Scotty Cameron Newport 2.0 putter
