Nope, havent hit it yet. Went with a Callaway Preowned. Hard to beat those prices... unless I went with a Gen 5 PXG. That may be an option if I dont immediately love the Paradym.

I’d find it surprising if you didn’t love the Paradym.

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.

there is no reason to ever hit a fade; play a single shot shape with your driver.

That is just path to face relationship.   Make the face open to the path and the ball will curve right.

Try weakening your grip a little.

A larger sized grip like a mid or jumbo and stiffer shaft will help more with a hook than a head change.

Most new drivers have adjustable sleeves that you can use to set the face more open at address, so you shouldn't have too hard of a time finding one that you can adjust to your liking.

You are definitely saving for a wedding. She can't waste money for all the bells and whistles if there is no money to spend. You are just keeping the cost down! Average cost for a wedding in the US is almost $30k. Makes that LAB putter look like a thrift store find. Your investments will last longer than the wedding!

As long as she's not getting fitted for a new "shaft" by someone else and you didn't buy 3 dozen 8 balls of coke for experimenting, you are doing just fine!

I use extra stuff shafts but you’re right about the adjustment. Used it on my 3 wood and it made a world of difference. I’m gonna have to try the grip change though.

Well I stumbled into a good thing. The p790’s take a collared ferrule and that makes any what the ferrules are that in ordered. I actually sold the TZI shafts before even installing them(ho’s gotta ho’). Lol

I actually ended up with steelfiber 95 R after a quick demo. There were others but this was the winner.  No numbers just feel and flight. Then the good luck. No need for a collared ferrule using .370 parallel shafts and sanding the tip a little to fit. A few shafting beads and I got to use my ferrules.

I’m considering putting a set of .370 parallels into my newest .355 Adams MB2 acquisition - can’t find the shaft I want in a taper tip. I think it’s fairly common for manufacturers to install that way for bulk shaft stock reasons and build flexibility; but they have a machine that works sort of like a pencil sharpener to make it very easy and uniform.

How tedious was the taper sanding process? Did you do it by hand or on a belt sander? I’m on the fence about sanding tips -vs- reaming the hosels.

I had to sand/grind tips and bore hosels when I built some wedges recently.

Definitely a PITA if you don't have proper sanding tools.

I used a belt sander. It isn’t a ton to take off. Basically just 2/3 quick spins of the shaft on the belt sander with very light pressure for the bottom 1/8” of the tip.  The biggest thing for me was doing 1 spin then checking it and repeating until fit was right.  I’d assume by hand will be much more difficult or time consuming.

The other day, I sent an on-course video of my driver swing to my coach. He liked almost all of what he saw in the swing, but commented that the way the shaft was moving in transition concerned them a bit. He wondered if experimenting with a stiffer shaft might be a good idea.

I took that as a good reason to add to my in-garage fitting bay, so that I have a few more options to play with:

Been thinking about replacing my Callaway Rogue driver. You guys think the new drivers are gonna be worth it or should I wait for another “generation” of drivers in a few years?

Find a place where you can swing the current crop of drivers. If the performance is better than your Rogue, pull the trigger. If it’s not, hold out for one that is.

For me, I like trying new clubs and shafts and the various possibilities that are available, so while I rarely proceed with purchase, I repeat this process with regularity.

Good luck and happy hunting 😁
