Been a bit since I've posted here and definitely missed reporting a handful of purchases... But here's the latest:

Picked up the Caddytalk Cube, used 2 rounds so far. Super cool. The triangulation is surprisingly useful and accurate (checked it against my buddy's Bushnell a few times, and it was accurate within a yard, even accounting for slope). On regular readings, had some duds though - like a 100+ yd shot reading at 8yd (not the "you just missed the flag" issues, actual misreads, and by a lot), but they were noticeable, and a couple reads later were much better. Overall happy with the early performance.

PXL_20231104_034540742.jpg.3101760dc645df51f9dbf505ca6be5e2.jpg

Then, added a couple more Putt Buddies divot tool/ball mark combos to the collection, this time going with Dr Evil / Mini Me and Phil / Darth Vader. They're a bit bulky, but cool designs (also have a Chubbs and a Spackler).

PXL_20231104_034824867.jpg.b10e633d6d1e221e28db941f4a47dc61.jpg

And, last thing for now... Reef Spackler golf flippy floppies (with soft spikes and all) -- who knows when I'll ever use them, especially considering they clearly lack support, but they look way cooler than the old FJ sandals that I used to have (maybe they'll be the new par 3 go-to shoes).

PXL_20231104_034942600.jpg.853b0ec24d46ade40c912f32b306741e.jpg

What's next for this club ho? I'm eyeing up a legit LAB putter fitting this winter - seems like that would make a huge difference for me. And then what's tempting but completely unrealistic for the current situation? A Finn Golf Scooter - after riding one a couple weeks ago, I never want to go back to a traditional cart. But for it to make sense, would need to join our neighborhood course, and that's not currently in the cards.

This Cube rangefinder looks really cool.  The reviews look pretty promising.

I'm not in need of any new golf equipment right now, but the L.A.B. putters are extremely high on the want list. All the love they're getting on here have them pinging on my radar, I'm definitely intrigued by them.

I know you got a few rolls in with it before the call yesterday, but I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think after you can really spend some time with it.

Hey buddy go out and get yourself a side job raking leaves, shoveling snow, walking the neighbor's dog, or driving a school bus but you need to join us.   These things are legit!

We got off work early today due to a supplier issue, so I stopped by Ross and picked up a pair of Callaway golf pants. Honestly, it's the first pair of golf specific pants I've ever purchased and I have to say they're comfortable. Most of the nicer courses I've played I was fortunate to play in the warmer months where I could wear shorts, so I never needed a pair. I usually get by playing in jeans at the places but the house.

Well I bit the bullet and bought the E6 Connect PC version of 10 courses for my Mevo+. Little annoyed that I already had the Apple version that I never was able to use. A few days later I bought face location add on...🤪

Not new per say but I did just drop off all my irons with a club fitter to check loft/lie angle. Turns out my shafts may be a bit too short so they are adding a half inch and bending the lie angle back to standard. More testing on Friday.

Need these to last me until next year and the season doesn't seem to be ending in VA!

Sorry - the cold hit here in Madison, so haven't been on the course since that last post. But, we're in a mini heatwave, so we got out for 9 today -- did not hit any of the same issues with bad distances, and I think it was only like two times in the first 36 holes (but again, not like it was giving bad reads that went unnoticed, they were very clearly off). I'm still getting used to toggling the settings and everything, but it's a positive experience. One kinda cool feature is that there's a screen on the side that clearly shows which mode it's in and displays the actual distance readings, so you can see all of the info outside of the scope (so, grab a reading, pull it down, and can actually show the group).

I keep thinking I'm going to miss the GPS function of my Bushnell Hybrid, but then again, I get all of those features and more on my watch today, so there's really no need to have it directly on the rangefinder.

And in the spirit of this group...I also added a green silicone cover to the Cube, which looks pretty slick. Meant to grab a picture on the course, but forgot again, so you'll have to deal with the stock photo:

Being the winter weather is upon us here in the mitten state, I get to appease my golf appetite by hanging out here on MGS, a few other digital hangouts, and when I can sneak away to a sim or heated range, I do it. With the winter weather also comes me trying some new things when I can. I started up the SuperSpeed training again and that got me thinking about shafts (again). For the last couple seasons I've been playing Ventus shaft in driver/fairways. Those shafts, and frankly all shafts for as long as I can recall have been 70+ gram shafts in X flex. Being that the lightest training stick in the SuperSpeed is always so much faster than my actual driver swing speed, I went ahead and found a Ventus TR Black 6X shaft to try out over the winter. Having only ever played heavier weight shafts, it will be interesting to see how the weight difference changes not just swing speed but how the club feels and ball flight, etc.

Got a Cobra King Vintage Sport-60 putter for next to nothing, in great condition minus a mark on the sik face insert. From what I can tell, and read online it shouldn't effect performance at all. Have been wanting a blade style to mess around with, and I love how the hosel flows into the head on this putter. Maybe could use a little extra length on the shaft (34" currently), and not a huge fan of the grip so might tinker with that.

Seeing all the deals and things people are buying makes me feel awfully leftout. However there is next to nothing I really need. We (wife and I) have our deal that no want purchases after November 1st till after the holidays which does make it tricky, but I really can say I am happy with what I have and honestly anything that I want and really want can always wait till after the holidays.

Have fun all with the various deals and there are so many of them as I continue to drool at all the things you guys are getting while I wait patiently here.

I came home from work today and asked my wife is she wanted to go clothes shopping. She's lost over 50 lbs and all her shirts are baggy. She mentioned the other night that she eventually needed some, so I thought why not tonight?

She came away like a bandit. We went to Old Navy and she bought 18 items for $100. Mostly tee shirts and tank tops.

She suggested we go to Ross and I bought two new pair of golf pants, one from Callaway and the other was Grand Slam. Not too shabby, but it wasn't the steal she got.

I am a big fan of Grand Slam clothing , didnt know Rosses carried them sometimes, now i got to go to Rosses lol.

They're comfortable, I'll give them that. I'll definitely buy more when I come across them. My only complaint is having the right back pocket sewn shut, that's the pocket I place my phone in. I can make do, I got them at a really good price.

As a guy who is just starting to get consistent and confident with Fairway Woods who has avoided them using utility irons and hybrids the only FW in my bag is the Ping G425 7 wood. After a lot of trying and experimenting I found that shortening the FW shaft length makes a big difference for me.

Not so much what I bought as what I did. I just didn't know where else to share it 😜

I love the Cobra Radspeed hybrid! When I first set up my garage practice area, I wasn't sure which direction to hit without hitting the garage door tracks or chain. Well one day I ended up hitting the garage door chain and it really messed up the top of the club. I was gutted. I like the club so much that I just have continued to use it with the nasty battle damage on top.

Well yesterday I found myself deep down a DIY rabbit hole and managed to do this

20231119_131424.jpg.488d824767b307fa64d46204af43eb7c.jpg

If you look really closely you can still barely see the scratches but it's a night/day difference. I'm actually loving the matte black look and to keep almost "looks" like a brand new club.

Used to look like this before the scars were added.
