Here are a few images from today on the course.  Our club is finally dealing with our terrible bunkers- in the past, any time we had any rain we would have washouts, swimming pools, and just unplayable conditions.  Finally, after arguing for several years, we have convinced the membership to invest in the Better Billy Bunker System.  If you are unfamiliar with this, the process involves removing the existing sand, digging out about 6-10 inches of dirt and installing some french drains, then laying down a 4 inch layer of pea gravel.  The pea gravel is then coated with an epoxy, which holds the gravel in place, but remains totally porous. New sand is then laid down over the gravel (4-6 inches) and the result is that you have a bunker which is playable in almost any rain, and dries out minutes after a deluge.  In some of our bunkers, the water would stand for days and the maintenance crews needed to use pumps.  Something to do with the clay soil around here.  Anyway, we are slowly getting the BBB treatment, YEA!!!

Played a very fast 18 holes in 2 and a half hours. The course was near an airport that had a WWII air show so I had B17, B24. Corsair and other plains flying over head it was very cool. The one picture is of a very tight area to hit through of a par 3.20180601_172037.jpg20180601_182918.jpg

Oh yeah they're quick and interesting little flightless birds. This guy wasn't so shy though which is very unusual.

One of the many beautiful holes. No.7 par 5 no.1 handicap.

I parred it and NewBallCoach birdied it, with his eagle putt missing my inches.

I personally would have aim about 3” right of that cut up tree there. Missed 4” left and smacked it right in the middle.

LOL...I'm glad you said that after I played it.  Honestly we hit three very good tee shots there, even though there was about 80 yards between my good tee shot and Matt's

NBC hit a beautiful high draw that ended up in the middle of the fairway and left him I think about 238 or out, and hit a 3 wood right up the gut that settled 5 to 8 feet from the pin.   One of the best second shots, Matt said he's  ever seen on that hole.

Was fortunate enough to stay beside the old course (didnt play though bah!) last weekend.

They were playing until I saw the last group come in at 10.22PM still with enough light to play. Grass is in outstanding condition.

The greater Rochester area held its day 1/2 annual National Fallen Firefighters Tournament yesterday. It called for rain and despite that, many chose to heed that warning and headed out for 18 holes. I've never been more frustrated trying to swing a club than I was yesterday. It rained and rained and rained yet, grounds were not soaked and the course was playable. We made it to 9 and on our approach, the club fell out of my hands for lack of a grip. No rain gloves and not enough towels to stay dry. We managed a -3 for the 9 and called it a day.

It was too bad, we had been looking forward to this one for a long time.

On a side note...Hogan Ft. Worth 15s are still awesome in the rain 🤙🏼
