So can anyone recommend where to look for inexpensive waterproof shoes and what to look at? They can be last years model or whatever.

Just check out the sale sections on second swing, global golf, etc. Lots of on line sites sell discontinued models on the cheap.

If you can find them in your size, Ashworth Kingston shoes are waterproof, pretty comfy, and have replaceable spikes.  For under $100 (originally $160) thay're a prety good deal

Pick up some waterproofing spray. I got some from Reebok and put it in my shoes and was shocked at how well it works

YOu can find crazy deals on Footjoy Contours occasionally. I search periodically, and buy them whenever I can get a pair for $40 or less. They are waterproof and extremely comfortable.
