Man it's getting interesting the Bengals traded Joe Mixon to Houston because Houston lost Devin Singletary and why on earth the Bengals traded Mixon for Zack Moss after 2023 when Mixon put up over 1000 yds??? The biggest takeaway for me is the QB money.  Kirk Cousins 4x180 is bonkers.

I saw the tweet yesterday…Cousins alone is $432mm in career earnings…Kirk Cousins lol.

I’m late to the party. Vikings fan, I could not be happier Cousins is gone. IMO he single handily hamstring this team in the amount he was paid and the unwillingness to help the team in this regard. Vikings gave him everything he wanted and the ROI is just not there. Good luck knob Atlanta. 
 

I like the moves they made so far. Only guy that needs paid  is JJ. 
 

on the QB front, we shall see. 
 

can’t wait to see the lions go all lions this next year. When they are good for than one year in a row I’ll give them some credit. Till then I’m only Barry Sanders fan.

Interesting comment here - I'd love to hear more about his "unwillingness" to help.  As an Atlanta fan, I'm excited about the possibility of having a great (yes, I said great) QB to lead our team for the next few years and his contract seems relatively manageable.  If anything, I'd be questioning the Viking front office, given they are now carrying a $28.5M dead cap hit for Cousins leaving.

As far as JJ, I agree he needs to be paid, but I feel this is an important crossroads for the Vikes - do you pay him a ton of money to stay and develop with a new QB (most likely someone they draft)?  Or do you strike while the iron is hot and try to acquire more draft picks for him? Sounds like you are leaning more towards the former.

he had said he loves MN and wants to stay and wanted to work with the team to try and work out a deal. In the end MN just can’t pay him $45 mil a year, JJ 35ish mill, their left tackle top money for that position which I’m sure will be mid 20’s even with the cap going up. Yeah and I always said that's the reason people cannot afford to go to a game!!! But yet they sell out constantly???? Literally costs upwards of 2 grand for a family of four to go to a game because these Prima Donna dudes are like Matt Stafford living in palatial mansions and in his case one of two that he owns?? Well the "top 10" is bonkers anyway so I'm sure he doesn't care as "they" list Jared Goff who has been in the league for five years and been to a Superbowl and an NFC Chamionship twice with different teams. He was second last season in passing yards and 1st in comp % but yet "they" have him ranked as only the 10th best in the league????? I love it because he plays with a chip on his shoulder and he is dangerous when slighted!!!

Don't have to debate it here, but I'd argue Cousins IS a Top 10 QB (when healthy obv).  Agreed that stats are one thing, but you can't ignore them in light of other QBs.  

Yes, our team is relatively young (especially our skill players, who were basically all drafted in last couple years), so I'd argue his parachuting into a pretty ideal situation.  I'm a little worried about his injury, but I can respect Atlanta taking a big swing here (he was easily the best FA QB this year, and our spot in the draft wasn't ideal to draft one).

Why are you pissed at the Falcons...still salty about this?

Roster and salary management falls on the GM along with ownerships pocketbook so if anyone hamstrung the Vikings, it’s the management.   So does building the defensive side of the roster.  Maybe Kirk would have stayed but Julie got a vote too to return home?  

Managing work-arounds in-season due to injuries is a key factor and all teams have to deal with it.  Every week.  So many moving parts so every team can play the ‘what-if’ but it’s irrelevant.  
 

Maybe last year would have been the Vikings year if Cousins doesn’t get hurt.  Maybe the lions win one more game with a different referee (not Brad Allen) in Dallas and play SF in Detroit.  But it’s all speculative and not reality. 

Many teams, but not all, will spend with the idea of getting to and winning a SB, most will fail.

Interesting discussion on Cousins. I think he is a good QB who puts up good numbers. I also think he doesn't pass the eye test when it counts. This is very subjective, but that is what I see. He's great for my fantasy team if he isn't hurt, but for a team I support, no way do I think he is taking a team far in the playoffs. Guess we will see if I am wrong this year with Atlanta. That team is stacked offensively, so if he IS that good, they should do very very well.

I think I heard an interview with him where he said he doesn't need that Kennedy hack to win in DC. Expect a big trade with the Jets and Commanders any day so he has an easy commute from the White House to RFK every Sunday. Trump and Biden have ZERO chance against him...

Well said man!!! We often see alot of what ifs but that complete stolen game in Dallas should never happen again!! It was disgusting and vile that some kook who has done it over and over is still a head referee. Lions lost to San Fran on their own and when you start showing your ass and acting like an idiot you usually get bit and when our safety (who had been talking trash all week on how much of a bum Deebo Samuel is??? ) Gardner-Johnson started walking around IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 2ND QTR waving bye bye to the fans and 49ers bench I knew we were screwed!!!! The deserved to lose and if they don't get that type trash out of the locker room they don't stand a chance

The truth is Lions only win the game on a catch able pass that Toney tips and gets returned.  He did it again later in the year, so he has a bad case of skillet paws ( turn out the light, see the sparks). In that situation pass likely goes to Kelce.  However, final word on this is back to back and once the Lions ever get there, then it's time to talk.  As some told me " if you want to be them, then you have to be better than them.  We'll see how it pans out come next January.

So you are gonna believe that the only reason Detroit won is Kelce was out?? Mahomes threw a pick 6 because Kelce wasn't there. He was hurried 11 times cause Kelce wasn't there. The Lions held Pacheco and I think jones?? To 31 yds total for the game because Kelce wasn't there well now I at least know why they won

And hand it to the refs for helping protect Mahomes in the face of the hurries by allowing their RT to line up in the back field.  But it’s all a moot point.  Chiefs lost that game.  They won the SB and credit to them - they’re a great team and they don’t make excuses, win or lose.  The lions lost their nxt game, at home to a team they should have beaten, and just moved on to the next.  It’s a long season and no team goes unscathed.  

Much respect to the Chiefs.  Let’s not turn this into the toxic likes of 2 4 7 Sports.

Yeah the Lions were the walking wounded early in the year but even healthy they were keeping it super dramatic as they really only beat New Orleans and Las Vegas big the rest were inside of a single scores!!
