Driver shaft length; bonded vs adapter?

Question for the club builders hereabouts: Is a shaft in a “fixed” or “bonded” driver longer than a Driver shaft using an adjustable adapter?

More to the point, if I wanted to swap a shaft that currently has an adapter into a Driver head that is non-adjustable, what are the ramifications, if any?

It should be longer in the bonded to play at the same length. In bonded drivers the shaft is what is inserted into the head whereas in adjustable drivers the adapter is what goes into the head.

That's what I assumed as well. So, if I wanted to swap and have the overall length be the same, I'd need to add a short extension under the butt end of the grip?

The tip would be the same diameter with or without an adapter, correct?

There are different tip diameters for shafts. Need to know the diameter for the adapter and the head to see if they are the same. It is Possible to shim if the tip size of the adapter is smaller. Yes you can add an extension to add the addition length; although I have never extended a graphite shaft, only steel so I don't know how well it works.

Typically a driver shaft tip is .335, not always, but it's a very large percentage. Also Driver shafts aren't usually tipped. Meaning you don't cut anything off of the tip before installation. The difference in length from using an adapter vs bonded will be the butt end of the shaft, that's where the cut to length would have been on the shaft. In order to have the overall length of the shaft to play the same length you would need a graphite shaft extension. Since the extension will be probably be less than an inch, I don't think it will change the weight characteristics too much. You may not want to add the extension and just play the shaft a bit shorter to see how it works for you. You can alaways add an extension later
