The Good Morning Thread

Goodmorning you beautiful people! Yesterday was another half day of work off and another rain storm…. If you want to golf just ask if I’m working guaranteed if I am working then it’ll be a nice day out but I digress. Looking to try to get. A round out after work this weekend if given the chance. It’s friyay and we’ve made it through the week, time to spend time with loved ones and socks off crocs on let’s go! 48 hrs down 24hrs of work to go

Good Friday morning spies!

A setback with the spousal unit…the Dr pulled the drains on Wednesday and by Thursday she had a fever. The Dr said that this can happen between pulling drains and bacteria getting in the open ports of her skin. So we’ve been battling that the last 48 hours. She’s on antibiotics and finally is below 100 for the fever. By this evening the antibiotics should be in full effect. Hopefully won’t affect the 13th surgery. I am supposed to play this afternoon but depending on how she feels, I may cancel. I’ve been working on my final review of the Motocaddy but haven’t finalized it yet due to the setback with the spousal unit. I’m hoping by Monday. If you all are playing today hit bombs!

Kelly and I drove up to camp last night arriving at 8:30. So nice to have coffee on the lake, even though it is a bit rainy today. I can always hope that the weekend is going to be nice!

My dog loves camping season she’s jumps out of the trailer and just rolls in the grass till her hearts content. Spending a lot of time a Normandy Farms this season

Good morning Folks

Played 5 rounds in 5 days last week. Two of the rounds were a scramble then a shamble. My back has been tight and sore all week. Partly from golf last week and partly from from having to go out and tow my wife’s brothers car off the side of the road to the repair shop. If anyone drives a mini coop, just know there really isn’t a good spot to hook up to the front and winch/come a long it onto a trailer. What a fiasco. Got it done and $3500 later he might have a good running car again. 
 

Another good note, do not over fill your oil. When I mean over fill, like 5 extra liters filled. It doesn’t help the car run better.

Hey, it’s Friday and I am super stoked to play golf tomorrow even if I play like doodoo. It the NWGG senior women’s & men’s championship. Not sure what that entails or includes, I’m just looking to get out with a couple friends and knock a golf ball around and get my walk on as well. I’ll be paying for that as I’m sure my back will be unhappy. My mind will be right.

Get a couple of cold/ cool water epson salt baths in if you can. I always take a plunge in the ocean when I’m sore but those baths are the easiest from home

Not sure which emoji to click. Happy she’s feeling better and you might get a chance to play golf. Sad because she has had a fever and feeling cruddy. Fire be cause the antibiotics are kicking butt, laughing at your gif, the others just don’t fit. So I give a long winded explanation and happy hunting to the antibiotics

Good morning, Spies!! TGIF!!

It's a beautiful day outside this morning. Blue skies, lots of sunshine, mid 60's. Too bad I won't get any golf in this weekend as the rain returns on Saturday afternoon/evening and all day Sunday when we usually play.  But then the first half of next week looks great.

Looks like another ceiling fan will go in tomorrow. The one I ordered for the GR is in and dad will be picking it up later. Depending on how long that takes, we might try and tackle the fan install for my office so I can stop using the little floor fan I have that is a little noisy.

The big thing we need to work on now is to get my club workbench built, so I can start working on building a few things (like my Maltby TS1-IM's).

I love Normandy Farms. Haven't camped there in a few years  though. I live 15 minutes from there.

The weather is too good to pass up, so I have decided to get out for 9 today.

My last couple of round before I submit my final shaft review.  Hopefully I can drive it straight today.

... Some records are NOT meant to be broken. We set a new heat record yesterday for June 6th at 113*.   But after dealing with a stomach bug for a little over a week I was happy to get out and play 18. Hot for sure, but my summer course has plenty of shade which is rare in the desert. Still a little weak it was a rough round as my swing was just a little off but it felt awesome to be outside and playing golf. Evidently a cold front rolled in because it will only be 109* today!

Good morning Spies,

I’ve been off lately but nothing specific. I did miss the morning banter here.
The LAB Golf testing is proceeding well. I am disappointed in the Club Champion experience if I’m being totally honest. I’m not disappointed in the results as the the numbers are the numbers which is fine. But the I did pay for a service and the reports that were provided were incomplete from my point of view. I’m also disappointed in that my on-site experience was most positive but the follow up has been lacking. I will reserve complete judgement for a bit longer as I have emailed again asking for the complete reports as my fitter was off yesterday.
My church golf league starts this evening. I am looking forward to that. I just hope the weather will cooperate. Rain is in the forecast throughout the day.

@Jim Shaw, I'm working on transition and a shallower and more neutral path.  I have a tendency to be too quick in transition, resulting in a steep out to in swing path.  I've been using the ProSendr training aid during practice sessions and it's helping, but its always good to have another set of eyes.  It's an ongoing process. lol

Sorry to hear about the setback... Hopefully it is minor, and the antibiotics will provide a quick recovery for your wife. Positive thoughts and wishes for her speedy recovery from this issue.

Good morning Spies!

Another beautiful day in Indiana. Well, rather windy, but sunny and blue skies with a high of 80*f today. Glad I'm not in AZ with those temps, @chisag. Damn. My Limey pale complexion and heat management doesn't cope well above mid 90s. Ha ha.

Woke up this morning to pain in my right hand (insert innuendo of choice, lol). In yesterday's round I had to hit out of tall rough (dense low down, with grass around knee height, ball sat down). I needed to hit a hard SW to get out towards the fairway (only went about 30 yards), but as the club came to an immediate halt, I felt a shot of pain in my right wrist and hand. No pain or notable discomfort the rest of the round, just a couple of mild twinges. But definitely strained the muscles in the hand and there is mild pain when gripping a club. So lots of icing while I work from home today.

I have a round booked tomorrow morning at Purdue University's Ackerman-Allen course, which is meant to be one of the better courses in Indiana. I've not played there yet, but everyone I speak to tells me how it's a great parkland course. Hoping the hand is feeling better tomorrow morning.

transition is a real thing, good for you working on that, "ongoing process" I couldn't agree more...

If I ever decide to start overpaying for domestic golf trips as opposed to overpaying for weeks in Scotland, Bandon is on the top of my list!

The price is high but the experience was worth the quid. More money than I've ever spent on golf but no regrets. If/when I go back it will be early fall or spring to avoid the peak rates but still able to luck your way into some decent weather. Avoid Dec-Feb unless you're willing to risk the chance of steady rain during your round. And paying for a caddy was worth the expense. I logged 31,666 steps for 36 holes. Way too many steps to carry, or even push, my own bag around. But I really want to overspend for a trip to Scotland someday.

YOLO, indeed. I skipped traveling for decades. Started traveling again when I started running marathons in my late 40s, and discovered it was fun (trips to Canada, UK, Sweden and Germany, plus everywhere from Alaska to Oregon to Utah to Boston domestically). It's even more fun when the core event isn't 4 hours of nonstop pain.

Actually northern Scotland isn't very much farther from the Casa than Bandon Dunes is. AND I've figured out/stolen a bunch of hacks to make a Scottish golf trip a lot more affordable; I'm happy to share those (and have shared) with any Spies interested in checking that item off your bucket list. Not sure Mike Keiser has allowed too many budget hacks at Bandon but I'll check further.

As I noted above, I have all kinds of hacks to make it less of an overspend and am happy to share. Airfare, room, car and most of the golf already paid for about $4000 for nine days. Only big variables are food, petrol and how much I spend in the pro shop.
