@Mr Orange where do you call home in Wisconsin? I am in Reedsburg and if you’ve never played the Reedsburg Country Club, would be a great track to test that putter! Challenging, quick greens. Looking forward to your review!

I’m in Hortonville/Greenville area. Thanks I can’t wait to test it out.

Mr Orange…you should take a ride north and test the putter out on the greens at Brown County Golf Course. You probably have played there? Outstanding course…give you a great test on the greens…

I actually have not made it there yet. It’s on my short list. I mostly play Chaska and Winagamie as they are super close to my house

Congratulations to all those selected. I am very excited to see how the testing goes. As a Sub70 fan I am excited for the results. I have purchased or demoed everything all types of clubs except their putters. I am really curious to see how those that use Odyssey putters like the milled putters vs the inserts in the Odyssey's.  I am most interested in the testing for @BallsLeonbecause I am very intrigued with that putter.  That is one from Sub70 that I would really like to demo and would consider buying.

I’m very curious to see how I like going from an insert to milled. When I went to go get fit for a putter a couple of months ago I was planning on a Scotty and ended up with the odyssey. A close second was the double wide blade from Scotty but the numbers were better with the OG 7. Will be curious to see if I get the same true roll feel out of the fang style putter from sub70. My putting legit took a big leap almost instantly though. Been dropping a lot more longer putts.

Sub 70 Sycamore 004 Mallet Putter- Official MGS Forum Review by Dick Erdmann

While waiting for my testing subject to arrive, I've started with data collection using my current putter on the practice green.  Capturing shot result data at the 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21 foot distances. Concluded my last round of the year using my current putter. It was not pretty, played an unfamiliar course while camping near by  and after 9 holes had made 21 putts. Ooof!

I'll be curious to see how the headcover fits the head. My 002 Mid-Mallet headcover is too big for the head so it doesn't fit well. Luckily the magnet closure holds it in place.

Took the 009 Mini out for it's first round, and played 9 holes tonight. Course was just freshly aerated with a healthy layer of sand so expectations were low.

Had one 3-putt, but managed to match my personal best for this 9-hole course, 16 putts. This is also my current personal best over 9 holes, something I haven't done since early July 🥲 (While managing to score considerably better/-8 strokes). Felt like I was going right at the hole all night, but sometimes my speed wasn't right to deal with the sand. I also had two texas-wedge shots from greenside rough that turned out great on holes 8 and 9, didn't feel like the rough was catching it much at all.

Highlight would be a 12-15ft putt on hole 6.

Testers Announced! @GolfSub70 Putters

image.png

Just because the seasons are changing doesn’t mean there isn’t still ample time to test and review golf clubs.

In MyGolfSpy Most Wanted Testing Sub 70 has performed well year over year and claimed third overall in 2023 Most Wanted Blade with the Sycamore 005 Wide Blade.  Bolstering an impressive lineup of 16 putters they have an option that will surely appeal to any golfer.

Sub 70 says “Every Sub 70 putter is milled from a billet of 1045 carbon steel which leaves no welds, castings or inconsistencies in the head. This is the best way to make a putter head and you will not find a more solid, great feeling putter. Aesthetically each of the Sub 70 putters offers a clean, classic black and white color scheme with traditional alignment lines. We have purposefully made the heads slightly heavier than the industry standard as we feel it allows a more natural pendulum like putting stroke. “

Sub 70 also introduced a new graphite/steel putter shaft this year that offers more technology, feel and stability. Add in these Sub 70 putters will often cost half of what major brands sell for and there would seem to be perfect balance of value and performance.

Please welcome and congratulate our four testers!

@Dweed

@Mr Orange

@BallsLeon

@snoopy79

Congratulations to the winners interested to see the reviews

Smile and someone smiles back.

I'm really enjoying the content so far plus, those putters look great! Sub70 has done a really good job with them and hopefully they'll roll as good as they look.

The addition of the weight kit is a really cool feature and I'm going to be interested to see if any of y'all go crazy with the ability to change them out and find the optimized set-up for your strokes.

Kudos to @GolfSub70 for the nice job with packaging and overall a high quality looking putter. Initial impressions are overall very good. Opened up the packaging and the putter was packed perfect and in a way to best prevent any damage during shipping. The note of thanks and the ball marker were nice touches.
IMG_1164.jpeg.810d50ef8aa5f461851b78b472c04d9b.jpegIMG_1179.jpeg.1cecb3c430b4da136e452e7999dc3a1a.jpegIMG_1175.jpeg.ca9e0a74333eaae9842c3d9b7842b5ea.jpeg

Also included were the weights in nice little organized box which I’ll be very curious to mess around with.

IMG_1165.jpeg.08e120c1c652a9e1a3a8247d599e0886.jpeg

First thing I noticed right off the bat was it had some weight to it compared to my current putter. I absolutely love the black look and the black steel shaft really completes the look. I initially wanted the graphite/steel combo offset shaft however they were out of stock with no timetable for them to come in but I am very happy with still the steel shaft and how good as a package the whole putter looks. I did take a few practice putts and ball seemed to roll quite nice. The sound is a little louder than my og 7 white hot and a little firmer feel (still would describe overall as a good feel just different than what I’m used to). The only knock I have to this point is the head cover. It’s definitely good quality feeling and fits perfectly but I do not like that it is velcro. I much prefer magnetic. Planning to take the kiddos out to the practice green tonight and do a little putting on a real green. Enjoy the rest of the initial pictures with a comparison shot to my OG 7.
