Went back to the Callaway Paradym TD driver. Good ball striking today. Had a really strong wind all day which made it challenging. Had 2 bogies and 3 birdies for a nice 71.

Played this TPC course for the very first time. The greens were a lot faster (probably about an 11/12 stimp) than the typical courses that I normally play and a lot more undulations in them as well. Makes one appreciate the skills of professional golfers even more when it comes to putting skills!

Had a great round this morning.  Driver has really come around and I was hitting fairways.  My GIR however were short sided but not by much.  I was able to putt from the fringe on quite a few holes.

Looking forward to playing a couple more times this week and continue testing out the new Titleist test ball.

Always a bonus to still be able to play in November. Home course now closed but a few still open. Not the greatest round and greens a lot slower than I’m used to. Missed numerous birdie opportunities by constantly coming up short. Oh well, at least I’m still playing outdoors.

Today's round was very unusual for me and a great reason the number of putts per round is probably the most credible metric out there.

image.png.5375102c579da5419e338e6f0906f697.png

My overall driving today was off hitting about 57% with missed equal on both sides of the fairway.  My greens in regulation was hovering around my normal statistic of roughly one per round.  After my round, I would have thought my up and down statistic was a bit higher given my next statistic.  For the whole round, I had only 24 putts!  I one putted 12 greens including my first ten holes.   If you marry the GIR and putts, you see that I was either chipping from off the green or putting off the green too often.  I'd say roughly have of the twelve were chips or approach shots that were within 1-2 feet.  The other half included a 15 ft. birdie putt on our par 3 fifth hole and several putts 10 ft. or longer for bogey.  It was one of those days!  Of the 6 two putt greens, at least half were just misses and tap ins from 3-6 inches.   It's really a special day when you stand over a putt and just know it's going in.  If I had better driver, fairway woods and bunker play, I might have scored better.

For me, I take today as a step in the right direction or as I often say, "directionally correct!"

Today is my only and last round of the week.  Thursday I head to "America" (the mainland from Key West) to Miami for a Friday's Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull and Ricky Martin concert.  They are not my favorite.  But I'm going with our friends to make sure our wives don't run off with Ricky Martin.  Even though I might have a better chance with him (he is getting a divorce according to published reports), that would not stop the ladies from rushing the stage.  Ricky....you can thank me later!

What a nice day today was! 80° and sunny with a decent breeze South to North. That wind definitely helped as I teed off on a 570 yard par 5 and was able to carry it to a slope that gave me another 20-25 yards. From there I had less than 200 to the pin, pulled 7 iron and missed on the back fringe. 2 putt birdie to start my round!

I stayed hot after that and pushed through to finish with a +2 36 on the front nine!

Used the Titleist White Box Test balls today. The ball is a very straight ball. Putts well, but isn’t as workable as other balls. I would say, it likes to go straight and is a half club shorter than other balls I play. However, still a nice golf ball.

Play like a champion today!

Had a great round this morning!  I was the first one on the course and the front 9 was great!  I was hitting the ball well and the approach shots were slightly off but I was pin high and just off the green for easy chips or putts.  I ended up 1 under on the front.  I got to the back and started having a few issues with the driver.  I had made an adjustment to it last night and was trying it out.  I started having the ole slice again.  Hole 10, I bounce it OB but was able to save a bogey.  Birdied 13 and then I get to my nemesis, hole 15!  I decided to change it up and play it with 3 wood off the tee and wouldn't you know it... Hooked one OB and ended up with a double.  Shot 4 over on the back for a round of 75.

Driver is being put back in the old position and we are going to continue to focus on scoring.

best day out in some time. hit a bunch of greens and fairways and kept the doubles off of the scorecard for the most part. putted a 25 ft walkoff par from the from the fringe on the last hole so that felt pretty great.

I played in shorts and a t shirt, in November, in Ohio. Not complaining, though. Winter will be here soon enough.

32 putts. meh. LAB gets here tomorrow and the work begins.

Paradym TD is a beast. Played today’s round with the Red Ventus TR shaft and really liked the results, including a 311 yard drive on 13 that was a bomb! Easily apexed in the 130’s.
IMG_1673.jpeg

Also, played a shadow round with the Titleist test ball in addition to the Bridgestone that I used for today’s round. Details will be in the tester thread, but the TL;DR is that ball is no good for my game.

Fantastic week for golf in the Richmond, Va area.  Ground crew cannot keep up with the leaves that are falling and Friday a big shift with much cooler weather and rain.  Probably a 20 degree shift.  Supposed to play in a veterans outing at Independence Golf Club, Midlothian, Va on Monday.

Great day at Bajamar! Weather was superb. Santa Anna winds kept it warm. The golf was okay. A day of mixed pars and bogeys. I did have an 8 and a 7 which derailed any chance of me placing in the money during our weekly skins game. Here are a couple of views from the course.

Two bad tee shots on the back resulted in doubles. Had 2 lip outs and missed 4 others inside 10 feet. Solid ball striking with no recent play or practice. Could have been much better but satisfied with how I hit it.

Played a round with the Titleist test ball used for scoring. It was a nice partly sunny day with temperatures in the mid to upper 40's, so for November a very nice day to get a round in.

Hit 10 of 14 fairways, only 7 of 18 greens, more due to ball testing and not knowing distances it would fly or roll out. Had 34 putts so that is an acceptable number for me, as no 3 putts again.

Longest drive was 258 yards on the longest par 5 which plays at 535 into the wind usually.

Some pictures of the course also shown below.

Next round for me scheduled for Sunday, and the weather outlook here may allow a couple more rounds again at the end of next week.

A pretty decent putting day saved me from heading onto triple digits as my driving and iron play were both sub par.

But a beautiful upper 60’s day in the 2nd week of November can’t complain about a round with a light 1/4 zip.

Net Birdies or better 3
Longest Drive 312

Used the Titleist Test balls again. It was cold, wet and windy. I will say my findings with this ball remain the same. Very straight and consistent. However, shorter than my usual ball. It is a very playable ball. Cons are the durability and length. However, I was able to hit a couple bigger drives. It is a good ball for the cold.

Great round and good info on the test ball. I can adjust to distance with the ball but I agree, the durability of the ball is a huge issue for sure.

Agree I can easily adjust to the distance lost on the ball. Also having a ball that goes straight is not a bad thing. However, hitting a wedge and having waffle marks on the cover is a real issue.

Absolutely!  And at current price point, I want a couple rounds out of a ball.

I will have to use these Test balls during the two rounds that I will be playing next week, including my Winter Golf Tour tournament on Thursday. We will have daytime high temperatures below or just at 50* F throughout most of the week with a 20-35% chance of rain most days.
