Early sim sessions on Full Swing and Rapsodo MLM2Pro resulted in incredible spin. The big thing for me is if and when they will actually spin when wet. I play most all my rounds early morning meaning morning dew and such. While i have loved some other wedges, the wet or damp performance just wasn't there.

Are you going to test wet spin with a spray bottle? That’s the MGS way

Wet condition spin performance wasn’t even something I considered until reading MGS. I had Stix wedges and like you, I play a lot in the morning and I remember being so upset when the ball would jump off the face and then roll out double what I would expect.

That is an option, but also one that at least for now I will wait. We have so much rain here it is only a matter of time before I have a good wet round situation. Maybe even today!

Wedges look sweet! How is the feel ? Looks as if the build turned out great, I'm reshafting my current wedges this week.

Is the designer Canadian, or Japanese?  Do you know the background?  Do you know price?  Pix look nice. Their website doesn't say much except "We are good"

Some feedback on how these feel and play. 

Granted they were range balls and weather is not super warm. Its not cold either, but just kinda in between.

You know where you hit on these wedges when you do. I found the toe a little more often than I care to admit, but that seems to be a running theme with me when I start out with new clubs. After a little adjustment the feel is truly fantastic. Miss the middle and you get that feedback with both vibration and sound. The one area I didn't explore was high on the face. I was always lower grooves. 

I was also on a mat so hard to give true feedback on turf interactions on full shots. 

For chipping it was really muddy and wet so again a little tricky, but overall they felt good. Not grabby and was able to open up the face a little bit and get some good strikes and playability. 

The final part is I still find them a shade upright. I do need to get them bent a little flatter to give me the flight and hopefully extra confidence with them.

Wow- the difference in those is amazing….I’m a sucker for compact wedge/iron faces….keep the updates coming along.

Had a good few practice sessions with these wedges recently. I may have slightly goofed on the length of the 60 a little bit (made it a slight bit long). Outside of that the really perform well. They are a true bladed wedge and are therefore not the most forgiving, but the feedback and is super! 

Performance has been really solid as well. The one key important area I have not really had time to try and test yet is in bunkers. That will likely end up being the true tipping point if they stay for longer. We have a lot of bunkers and I need that confidence out of them. It is why the Mizuno S23 wedges didn't last!

The day has arrived!  Just looked at the tracking number and the heads are out for delivery.  I have ordered the grips and ferules but not the shafts quite yet.  Waiting on KBS to respond to a question.  Still need to get shims for the shafts and purchase the epoxy.  

I'll post some photos this evening once they arrive.

Toura is a small company, but growing and many of us staff have been drooling over the clubs. While they do sell full complete sets, a big part of what they do is cater to those who enjoy the building aspect. In fact that is where they got started. As a club builder and tinkerer, founder Jon, wanted to find a blank set of blades to build. Unfortunately there was none to be found. So after a little research and some capital Toura Golf was born.

As part of a "how to" series I picked up a set of wedges to build. I wasn't really sure if I would put these in play, or just have them as a back up set or just put them as a showcase piece... after having built them there is little question they will be going for a full test run. 

Unboxing - WOW

I have ordered and received my fair share of clubs before and I can truly say I have never had an unboxing experience like this. Only heads were ordered, so no big long box, just a small box for the 3 heads, grips, some ferrules and a nice little surprise. Each club was packaged separately in its own black bubble wrap, then inside the head was in a really nice Toura Golf branded pouch. And inside that another bubble wrap. There was no way these were going to be damaged in shipping. 

The Grips were also in their own black bubble wrap and same goes for the ferrules, including another nice pouch. 

The surprise was a Toura Golf card with a QR code on the back. With a quick scan of the code it brought up their site and the official Toura Golf authentication certificate. A cool nice touch as each club has a serial number on it and we know that they are true products. 

All in all just a really pleasing experience and felt very personal. Great job and good on them!

Toura Golf Wedge - First Impressions

First impressions are spectacular. Truly. So simple, so clean and just a fantastic look. Reminds me a lot of my COBRA Trust Rusty Tour (and side by side they aren't that different other than some offset and a bit in size). Which have played that wedge for a good while is quite comforting and welcoming. Of course being just heads this is mainly about the build. Even though these are a bladed wedge and I tend to lean toward the cavity back design I truly cannot wait to hit them and get started with testing! 

Before that I had to opportunity to snap a few more photos and then get started on the build. 

The Build - Toura Golf Wedges

I am using the Toura Golf Grips as they feel great and pulled my shafts from another set of irons I have. These are .370 parallel tip heads and just so happens these black KBS Tour 90 shafts are the perfect fit. So shafts pulled, measured and cut and was able to get started. I also used the Toura Golf ferrules they provided and was truly torn between which ones to use and opted for the white and silver to match the grips. Who knows, maybe at a later date I pull them and swap them out for the blue? or green? or maybe even orange?

The build went smooth and while I still need to finish the ferrules, the grips feel great, swing weight is on point and I will be hard pressed to find a sleeker looking wedge. Again almost ... almost too pretty to play. I love to no logo nothing black finish and as I head to a shop to get some numbers I will be curious if the staff asks about them or not. 

A lot more to come on this and there will be a full article/update on the build itself in the future. One more final photo before I get started with the rest!

Not to my knowledge. I would imagine doing that would mean having to add weight as well... Depending on the grinding being done.
