Great day, even with it damp and cool - couldn't miss a putt today, either for a birdie, or to save par.  Able to finally make a better turn, as an ongoing nerve issue in my legs has cleared enough to let me be more agressive.  I'll enjoy this while  I can, never know when things will come back to bite you!

I still have some learning to do with getting the Rapsodo lined up with my shot line. It keeps tracking all my shots left which leads to a lot of automatic three putts. Next round I’ll have to be more forgiving with the one putt zone and the two putt zone until I get it worked out.

I have a question concerning Net Birdies. If you birdie a stroke hole which gives you a net eagle, do we count that as 2 net birdies that hole? Twice last week during a round I made an actual birdie on a stroke hole, I had 2 net eagles and counted them as 2 birdies per hole, however someone came along (twice) and adjusted my birdie count and counted those as just a 1 .

So does a net eagle just count as a net birdie? Does someone who is a 19 handicap and makes par on the number 1 handicap index hole not get credit for 2 birdies or is this just net birdie or better total?

I ask because if I am doing it wrong I will stop. If I’m not wrong, then why does this number get changed by someone else? I wasn’t sure it happened the first time, but I changed it and then just looked and someone changed it again.

If you birdie a hole you get a stroke on, it becomes a net eagle, but it only counts once. Each hole counts once, regardless of outcome. That is why your “net birdie or better” count was 7 rather than 9 for last week. My apologies, I meant to send you a PM explaining, but I got sidetracked.

I appreciate you pointing that out, as I have never noticed that wording. As it was my predecessor’s scoring system, I will honor it for the remainder of Season 2.  It will be removed for Season 3, along with some other changes.

If you are consistently going left, try moving the red arrow on the screen to the right prior to the shot. I’ve found this to be helpful when the Rapsodo indicates that I am overdrawing the ball.

Good idea. I had some better shots on my back 9 which helped my score. Just need to get comfortable swinging without being afraid of hitting anything.

I'm back!   After about two weeks off due to an unanticipated surgery, I made it back to the course today (five days after "my procedure").  I thought I felt pretty good until I got out there.  I felt pretty weak and it showed in my numbers.

image.png.d144d56ad304737818cf919afa1d5974.png

It didn't help that we had 25 mph winds with gusts to 35 this morning.  It's the tail end of the bad weather system heading up the East Coast.  Every time I seemed to hit a good recovery shot, I failed to make the putt.  With only one net birdie, you can see it was pretty much a struggle today.  I'm glad I had my normal Tuesday morning group to play with as they were understanding.

I'll be back at it on Thursday.  My plan is to rest up and try to get back some of my strength.  I have golf on Saturday morning and our local Lower Keys Golf Association Championship on Sunday.  We'll see how great I feel after Sunday's round.  What will make it better independent on how I shoot is a good performance by the Bills at 1:00!  Go Bills!

While I agree, the scoring system that Tim started the season with allows 2 points for Eagles, thus essentially making them 2 birdies. An albatross would be worth 3.

This is under review for next season, along with a few other tweaks, in an effort to make the competition more equitable for all players.

Today was cool and had winds at 20 mph with gust to 30. So, hitting 15 greens was a huge accomplishment. However, had 32 putts. That is 4 putts more than normal. Also had a ball hit the cup and pin on a par 3. Bad part was it didn’t go in, but was about 3 inches away for an easy birdie. I made 4 birdies and 3 bogeys. One bogey was an unforced error with a 3 putt. The other 2 were poor chips. Based on the conditions, I was very pleased with the round.
I have worked my ass off this year to get better. My handicap has fallen like a rock in water. Playing today on a plus 3 was always going to be a hard score to achieve. I just wonder how some players are putting up like 7 to 9 birdies a round and keep shooting under their handicap? Especially, since their handicaps never seem to change…..Not sour grapes, but after seeing my handicap drop just wonder why others are not……

Nice round!

Wind has been brutal here the last 2 days!  I walked 6 holes this morning just working on trouble shots around the course and it was up to 2 clubs different on some shots.

Yes, the wind was wild! I hit a lot of knock down shots under the wind.

I have that option on a few holes but we are in the hills and have a lot of elevation changes and wide fairways.

While I agree, the scoring system that Tim started the season with allows 2 points for Eagles, thus essentially making them 2 birdies. An albatross would be worth 3.

This is under review for next season, along with a few other tweaks, in an effort to make the competition more equitable for all players.

Really, well I had 12 natural eagles this year and more net. I never counted it more than 1. That would have been a huge difference and wish I knew it!

It’s in the fine print of form you fill out when you post a score. I never noticed it, until it was pointed out to me.

Same I just took extra club and hit some low hooks so it cut through the wind.

We had 30 mph winds also today. Our best score was a 78. My score was 87.  I had new irons, which I love and hit solid shots. My problem was I didn’t hit the driver or wedges well.

On hole 8, I had a 6’ par putt that would normally break 4”. I played 8” because the wind. It was almost in the hole, one of the guys said, “Great Putt!” And was walking to put the flag in. There was a huge gust of wind, and my ball turned 90° and rolled 12’ left of the hole. It was hilarious to them. All I could really do was laugh. It may be the first time I’ve even missed a 6’ putt by 12’ that ended up behind me. I missed the bogey also.

I had 2 natural birdies and 2 pars on the day.

First one on the course this morning and it was a day of scrambling and grinding.  I caught myself decelerating a few times on iron shots which isn't my normal. (I blame the cold)

I hit some very solid drives and then a few that cost me.  Overall, I was just glad to get out before the weather comes this weekend and the course shuts down for a few days.  We will see if it actually happens but they have it posted.

My chipping was on fire today and kept me in the mix.  Putting was good, but not great and had several birdie putts that lipped out.
