Following! New wedges are on my get list for this golf season! Right now I’m running wedge set from Amazon- LAZRUS rainbow, 52°, 56°, 60°.

Out of curiosity, do you guys recommend getting fit for wedges?

I absolutely recommend getting fit for wedges. I was just fit into Vokey SM9s last year and even though I had an idea of what I wanted from a loft and grind perspective, hitting multiple options and feeling the shots was well worth the time.  The 50° Vokey that I have, might be the best club I've ever hit. The wedges I replaced were old Cleveland CG12s (Raw DSG) and I loved those wedges...but having the ability to "flight" the shots and keep them low when needed with the Vokey wedges is something I never knew that I needed and now I can't go back.

I have my Sub70 wedges in play at the moment.

50* 286 that is full shots and pitch/bump and runs.
54* & 60* JB Full Groove wedges for bunkers, flops, chips, etc more around the green. I don't really do full shots with these.

They're built with DG120 S300 shafts that match my irons along with MCC+4 Mid's that also match.
They're great wedges and not sure they can be beat for the performance and price combo.

How would you say "forgiveness" or ease of hitting is on the 286 compared to the JB? I have the JBFG in 56* that I want to use for 80 yards in and am just getting the hang of on fuller shots like that but I have been thinking of the 286 for next wedge instead (if I don't do like a CB wedge). Maybe instead ill use the JBFG for the closer, more finesse shots and then get a 286 or CB for the more fuller shots.

Currently using a Tommy Armour 56 degree and a Ben Hogan 52 degree.  Thinking of trying the Smithworks wedges this season.  Used to have a 60 degree but use an 8 or 9 iron now when that close to the green, 60 degree is just too easy to blade.

Let's play another 18.  Kirk58

I'm on board with the Vokey train.  SM8 50 and SM9 54 & 60.

I spent some time last night learning more about the SM10 grinds and how I may change up my bag in the coming months.  I've found success with the lower bounce 60 and always tended to gravitate towards a 10* SW.  I'm curious to see how I would get along with a 12 or 14* 54.

Like my profile says, I have an Indi 49* Super Gap wedge (Recoil shaft), and two Maltby M Series....a 54 and a 58, both on Ping TFC 100 shafts.   The Maltbys could probably use replacing.....looking kind of beat up, but I have the replacement heads.....just a question of when I want to make the change.  I finally "learned" how to use them last summer, so I guess I'll stick with them to start the season!

Bought these Edison (originals) on eBay for a very good deal a couple years ago - Originally came with 47, 51, 55, 58, 63.  They were custom built with MMT 125 TX Scoring wedge shafts, with custom ferrules, and all lettering was silver-paint filled - these things are gorgeous.  Overall, I have loved them.  I sold the 55 and the 63 because I just couldn't hit them ... The 63 is understandable since I've never played with a loft that high, but I still have no idea why the 55 didn't work.  I hit the 47, 51, and 59 great.  I bought a PXG Sugar Daddy 54 degree to replace the Edison 55 ... and it doesn't work either, at least not well for full shots, but it works really well out of the sand, so it stays in the bag.  I've learned to hit the 59 anywhere from 85 and in and the 51 anywhere from 90-115, and just skip over the 55-distance gap.

I currently use 5 wedges. 2 are Taylormade M6 pitching 43.5 and gap 49 degrees. Three are Bombtech 52, 56, 60 degree wedges. I use most of them every round. The 52 has become my favorite inside of 20 yards. 60 is my 50 yard full swing and green side bunkers club.

The 286's are their full swing type wedge. It's not really designed to be manipulated, so if you open or close the 56*, then you're better off with the JB. This is why I only use it for my 50* - I don't manipulate that wedge.

They're both forged wedges, so they're going to be less "forgiving" than a CB wedge. But I found the Sub70's to be pretty forgiving for a forged wedge. The 286 needs to be hit pretty poorly to really get punished.

I'm very confident with it for full shots and the pitch-n-run around the green. I find I even hit that partial 50yd shot with it more than the 54* due to confidence.

I believe there is a pre-owned sale right now, so if you can find a 286 you like it's worth testing it with a pre-owned sale.

How do you like the Lazarus wedges? I remember when they first came out a few years ago and they had them in several color options. I considered them, but them stepped back as several new DTC companies started popping wedges on the market.

@Rob Person I have really liked them! They have a ton of forgiveness for the approach shots! There is chatter that they aren't conforming but for me messing around weekly, that isn't as a big deal. Where I am growing is more around the green - short chips from just off the fringe in the rough, etc. Before buying the Lazarus wedges, I had no idea about wedge bounce degrees and such. That is where I need to customize a bit more with a fitting or trying out wedge loft versus bounce.

Still hanging onto my Mizuno JPX-825s now heading into a 9th season.  Presently carry a 48 PW, 50 degree lob, 54 and 58 degree wedges.  Noticed during my Trackman session last week that a full out swing with the 58 degree is barely getting me 9000 rpm with a new Pro V1.  Me thinks its time for a new set.

I have Callaway Jaws MD5 for my 50.10 and 54.10. I have a Vokey SM5 for my 58.7. It’s a hodgepodge of used pick ups that all have different shafts. The 50.10 is the only one that realistically fits my swing as far as length, lie, and shaft. It works for me for now as that is the only one I swing full. The 54 and 58 are both standard and I use those for more finesse shots so it works well for me as far as gapping and distance is concerned.

I am tempted to get a fitting done but I have to decide between that or getting fit for a new driver shaft. Tough choice as both would benefit my game.

Two Mizuno Grain Flow Forged and an old forged Hogan Sure-Out sand wedge.

Mizuno S5 52 x 09 for about 4 out of 5 approach shots.  Max distance around 70 yards.

Mizuno T7 60 x 06 for a few shorter shots if I need to go over something.

A chipper, the old old Don Martin Up-n-In for near the fringe and bump and runs.

But, I still plan on getting an Indi when my 52 Mizu wears out, and I might close the gap to my 45 deg PW, by getting two Indis, a 49 or 50, and a 54, instead of just one gap wedge.

Thanks to MGS, I just moved into some Taylor Made wedges.

I have a 48 degree MG4 plus 54 and 60 degree MG3 wedges.

My New Level PD-902 Irons have a 43 degree PW, so I get alot of use out of the Gap wedge.

Short game has become atrocious over the past few years and I am looking forward to an April lesson with the Short Game Chef to "fix me".

First time in my life that I'll have more than 14 clubs in the garage.
