CSiders12
Back to back days of golf in awhile. Yesterday, posted a 79. Today I posted a 78. I golfed with a partner today which I am happy with. 1 birdie, 10 pars, and 7 bogeys. Had two nice par saves which helped the score out. Also missed a couple of birdie chances. At this rate, by the end of the week I will be elated! Parshooter36
I played my 1st round of the year after work last night and played great. I was a bit concerned as I have been making some swing changes in recent weeks through my GolfTec lessons and my simulator results have been hit or miss. They still have the tees forward, so I wouldn't consider it an official round but I managed a 2 over 72 which is phenomenal for me. Especially for the 1st time out! NubianRugby
You know how bad your short game has to be to shoot 54 for 9 holes and not lose a ball? Pretty bad and mine was even worse yesterday, I had zero distance control from 40 yards in. I was either coming up way short or blading it and going over the green and very little in between. It was especially frustrating because I was getting off the tee and hitting decent long iron shot to get in the vicinity of the green thinking, "I just need to get up & down for par" and proceed to chunk it short or overshoot the green. Blecch!! At least the weather was nice and I got out early, so I flipped around to play some of the back 9 and not worry about score. I managed to hit the green on a 170 yard par 3 but couldn't make the birdie putt. The one good thing yesterday is that I was hitting 3-wood off the tee and was smoking them 250 yards right down the fairway. Edited March 13 by NubianRugby Added more info about my trash golf game. Popular Post Preeway
Had a day like none other yesterday. Hit 11/14 fairways and 15/18 greens. All three misses were on par 3s. First time ever breaking 70 and hoping this is a sign of things to come rather than just a fluke. It was definitely a combination of winds hovering at a measly 5mph, fairways were firm and greens were rolling true. All that combined with one of my best ball striking days I’ve ever had. CSiders12
I got out for the 3rd day in a row which felt great. I played pretty well, but started my round not the way I wanted and ended the round not the way I wanted. They had me tee off on the 10th hole and play the back nine first. I went bogey, birdie, double bogey on my first three holes. I then shot +1 over the next 13 holes. I double bogeyed the second to last hole to shoot +6, 78. The course I play at is really difficult, so anything under 80 is pretty damn good. The weather looks crappy tomorrow, so I'll get a nice rest day in there. I'm ready to get back at it though. Popular Post David Leighton Reid
I have just finished playing 4 consecutive days and my ball striking has been good for the most part. A friend shared a pro tip about keeping a loose grip on his wedges and it improved his accuracy. I have made a conscious effort the last 4 days to think about a light grip before starting my swing and my pull left misses have become minimal. For as long as I can remember, keeping a light grip has always been instructed, but for some dumb reason, I guess I have been squeezing the grip a bit too tight. Popular Post Rob Person
Well, I now consider myself consistent in breaking 90, and feel I may have actually earned that badge. Had my best round ever to date. I finished with a 45/43 today for 88! We played from the white tees too! 1st hole was a blowup with a double to start. (Who puts a sand trap on 3 sides of a green??? ) I should probably practice more on beach extractions... Then it started to fall into place. I had no 3 putts today! DB was laying them down like warm butter on toast! Had 6, 1 putts, and 12, 2 putts. Only lost 1 ball today. Was on the back nine, to a drive that goes 150 yards over water. I nearly had the fairway but it caught a downslop after landing and rolled down into the muck. Still struggling with shots between 150 and 200 yards, but am making the effort to change that next. FiR- 13 GiR- 11 I've was so giddy after the round, that I had to call my wife (who could honestly care less about golf, but supports me for some reason anyway) My grip and swing change on driver and woods is finally developing into something useful. That said playing Stryker Golf course at Fort Liberty in Fayetteville NC, was able to turn in a just under triple digits 99 with a 49 and 50 and longest drive of 220 yards. Popular Post Indy_Oz
Played 9 at a little hidden gem 9-hole public course near Downtown Indianapolis. Buffer Park. For this early in the season, and a $20 midweek 9-hole rate public course, it's in amazing shape. Fairways like soft carpets and greens moderately soft, but rolling true and pretty quick considering recent rain. The ground staff have done a great job! Slope/ course ratings from scorecard (two of us played blue tees, one played whites): No warm up other than about 7/8 putts to start to gauge green speed, then rushed to first tee and had a shocker of a first hole. Starting with a double bogey 7 isn't ideal. ha ha. Ended the nine at +6 with sufficient highlights to feel positive about early season form once I get some outdoor and grass range sessions in and more course time. - 5/7 FIR and only 4/9 GIR - Two up and downs out of five (card shows one, but one of the 2-putts was a chip from the greenside rough but registered as on-green for some reason, probably as I was carrying both wedge and putter and Arccos detected putter first and I didn't check). Three missed birdie putts that weren't easy but were makeable. - 3-hybrid was a bullet fairway finder. 4/4 fairways hit with it (210-233yds range) with a mix of tail-, head-and cross-winds. - After suffering with wedge shanks recently and figuring out a couple of small swing feels/ checks to remember (after going over lesson notes from last year and videoing myself recently), it was pleasing to hit all my wedge shots really well. Pushed one just right of the green from 100yds, but the others from 30yds to 120yds out range ended up on the putting surface. Need to keep working on driver consistency and get plenty of putting practice in and I'll get those scores back down. Popular Post Syks7
Got to play yesterday and shot an 45/43 88. (Net doubled out to 87) I'm actually very pleased as the course is one of the most difficult I've ever played. Par 70 that we played from the white tees at 6100 yards -- and it's still a 70.2/131. Relatively benign off the tee, but resulting in very few flat lies for approach into heavily bunkered and protected greens. The rough was thick and the greens are absurdly fast and heavily sloped. Good times. Good workout too, lots of up and down. Overall, I played really well but I just got into trouble 5 times and it cost me most of my strokes. Two triples, 3 doubles. Trimming those down to bogey gets me to 82. Very positional golf course. If you were in good position it was great, if you weren't it could bite you hard. 32 putts on the day with a pair of three putts including on 18. (went back to the Link) 5 pars including two on 200 yard plus par 3s (both of which were GIR) and a birdie on 17. 170 yard shot to 3 feet. My only goal for the day had been to stay in the vicinity of 90 so big win to beat that by two. cnosil, Rob Person, VernL4 and 10 others 8 5 Quote Driver 0311 Gen 5 -- Tensei CK Orange 60 Woods 0341 3W -- Tensei AV Raw Blue Hybrids 0317X 2&4 -- Tensei AV Raw Blue Irons ZX7 4/AW -- C-Taper Lite 110 Wedges T7 55º @55/7 -- TT DG Spinner Putter DF2.1 or Link.1 -- Accra Ball Zstar Diamond

Popular Post Michael.Sandoval33
Today I played the back 9 of El Dorado Park GC. It is a Par 36 with two par 5s, five par 4s, and two par 3s. I shot 53 today and it was my first time on any par 5s. It felt good, I felt confident, the driver wasn't an issue as it stayed true and straight. But still working on the new iron motion and grip. Putting was really good this morning as the greens were very fast, made it a heckuva lot easier to roll from further than I wanted. This gives me so much confidence to get out and hit every 18 holes on the block. Rob Person
51 minutes ago, Michael.Sandoval33 said: Today I played the back 9 of El Dorado Park GC. Look out because I'm coming Congrats! Was it a solo round? PrismFlopper
Got out for a nice walking 9 today. Little swamp in spots but was a good round. Good starting point for the season! Have alot of work to do with the driver unfortunately. Once greens are running nicely the putting game should come back so not to disappointed. Bogey golf for the start of the season isnt too bad. Yes ik i need a new push cart but handed sown from my grandfather whose past makes it hard to get rid of while its still doing the job berkeleybob, MattF, cksurfdude and 5 others 6 1 1 Quote Been playing for about 2 years in total. Winter breaks and a 6month period when I got sick. Starting to feel like myself again and recently played a “okay” round. I currently have custom fit Cobra LTDx irons/wedges, a Vokey 60(cause my short game has been the best part of my game, and a Maverick 9 deg. Driver. Driving is the worst part of my game so My 4 iron usually takes alot of the long game abuse.
