sirchunksalot
1 hour ago, Jacob10 said: @sirchunksalot Congrats on the sand save! I lived in Chattanooga for a couple of years and walked this course and Brown Acres many times. Those greens are hard and need a perfectly stuck iron shot to hold. Both courses are easy to get off the rails quick, but they are fair. They were in the process of converting the greens at Brown Acres to bermuda when I moved. I would like to go back and see how it plays with different greens. Thank you! I haven't played Brown Acres in a couple of years but I've always felt like both courses so play fair and provide some good challenges and I enjoy putting at both courses as the greens roll true. I give you credit for walking Brown Acres, that ride under the interstate is a long one. I love the elevated par 3 out there even though I usually pull hook the tee shot and I don't think I've ever scored well on the hole. Sluggo42
I think it’s important to play against good players if you want to improve. figure out how to get a good drive out there , whether it be a draw or a fade. (Hard to get on in 2 if you’re 300 yards away, or deep in the junk) figure out how to get on or near the green. (Don’t be a pin seeker unless you can confidently do so, and if you’re not a low single, you probably can’t. Just aim center green, and get on or close) figure out how to get up and down. (Almost every club in your bag can be the best option, think more roll and less flight as a very general rule) learn how to lag it close to the hole to eliminate 3-putts. (Think laundry basket distance. Two feet left is much easier than 8 feet beyond) use a better ball. (Lots of decent balls to choose from, maybe it’s time to move on from the pinnacle or Kirkland) use clubs that suit your game. (Those blades look good and feel even better when you flush one eh? Except yu haven’t flushed a hit since 2010, and it really stings on those cold mornings. Some super forgiving irons will dramatically improve your chances of getting on or close) don’t try the billion to one odds shot out of trouble, as 99999999 out of a billion, it will cost you more than one stroke. (Just get a ball back into play. Not sexy, but smart) THANK YOU capt obvious! easier said than done eh, but all of these things are crucial to scoring. sirchunksalot, Rob Person, MattF and 5 others 5 1 2 Quote TSr2 on tensi blue stiff Speedzone 3-wood on Tensi blue S Epic Max 5 and 7 woods on HZRDUS Reg flex Paradym 9 wood on HZRDUS reg flex P770 / P790 combo set on Ventus R-6 shafts 6-AW T22 Denim Copper 54°, 58° on Kinetic X Trajectory ER3 or, E.A.S. #4 (“Fang” or “Adele”) ProV1x, or, Maxfli Tour X .Org 14 cart bag Adidas Tour 360 , or Sketcher shoes

I got my money's worth from the city membership down there. I probably played 27 holes per week that year and walked most of them. Dweed
Ran out for 9 yesterday trying to get ready for league play upcoming Tue. Found myself behind a 2 some of very long hitters and in front of a three some of very long/excellent hitters. They all were in carts and I was pushing my cart. Felt rushed the entire round trying to stay out of range of the bombers. Behind them were 4 other groups so letting them play thru wouldn't have allowed me to ease up and catch my breath. Finished in 1.75 hrs. Very beat to say the least. I shot 5 pars, a birdie, a bogie and 2 double bogies. I swear some of those trees just ran out into the fairway waving their limbs. Not the greatest round but still saw some positives as well. Haro
First back to back round two days in a row 1st round was good off the tee Lost 20 yards off my driver but still decent My irons were exceptional good and either on the green or simple chip. Putting was off. Try use line the on the ball for putting but it too difficult continue to doing it for every green Did work well for short putts. But for longer putts I think I want to use intuition and general green reading 2nd round next day. Gave up on the line on ball concept. Except for one 6 foot that I knew went left to right about one cup Use AP concept with the line on the ball. Short Putting go worse if I didn’t use the line and went back to the straight putt for short distances I think for short putts 3-6 foot range and I going to keep using the line on the ball. And maybe up to 10 feet with breaking putts. With 10 foot uphill putts I likely with just just use all white ball and aim putter lines Edited May 3 by Haro sirchunksalot, MattF, cksurfdude and 3 others

Syks7
Had a bit of a day. 37/40 77. I went par, par, birdie, birdie to start. Finding myself at 2 under, I though, " this could be a hell of a day," then I went bogey bogey bogey to come back to reality. Then I finished out the front par par to make the turn at +1. Made a long birdie putt on 10 to go back to even and had visions of shooting par in my head before a silly 3 putt on 11 put that notion to rest. Misjudged the wind/made perfect contact with my 3rd shot on the Par 5 12th, sailed the green, and failed to get up and down. Made par on the next 2 holes, before going bogey bogey bogey(three putt) before getting up and down for par on the 18th for my low round ever at +5 - 77. It's a little weird to say for my personal best, but I feel like I left a lot on the table. It felt like shooting par was within reach until the bogey in 15. Cleaning up the Two three putt bogeys on the back 9 brings me to 75 and cleaning up the bad third on 12th would bring me to 74. From there I just needed a couple up and downs to drop. It's by far the most complete round I've ever played. The best part though, Zero stress, I was fully aware of my score the entire round and never let a bad shot bring me down. The three guys I played with didn't believe me that I am a 10.7. Also, barring a PCC adjustment I'll cross into single digits tomorrow !!!!!! Mos fun I've ever had going lowish. taylorjonasher
Played in a 4 man scramble today for a fundraiser. I drained a 30' for birdie on the first hole, and then things quickly went downhill. I ended up playing my 2i off the tee for 4 holes after the first three banana balls with the driver. My irons were serviceable today, probably the best they've been all year. On #9 our tee shot was behind a tree, and I was able to shape a nice 150 yard fade with my 7i around it to land on the fringe and two putt for par. Short game continues to be the strongest part of my game; had a nice flop with the 58 short sided over a bunker and hit a couple nippers with my 54 to 3'. Right now I'm a little bit worried about my driver, as I haven't had any real slice issues until today. Even though I didn't play my best, I had a great time today with the guys I played with. I netted a 72 and beat last year’s club champion on the last hole . He was a plus 2 and shot a 71 which netted a 73. Next ! I was asked about the bogey to win the last hole . The 18 hole is the longest five on our course with OB down the whole right side of the hole ( 545 yards - gold tees for him and 526 yards -blue tees for me ) . My opponent hooked his tee shot left onto the 17th fairway and tried to punch a shot back into play but it ran through fairway back into the right rough , almost OB. He still had about 200 yards into the green but had trees with limbs very low and tried to hit a cut 4 iron toward the green but yanked it left into the thick rough 80 yards from the green . At this point, he hit a hard lob wedge but skulled it about 10 yards behind the green with it ridiculously down hill to a back pin . As he chips I’m thinking wow that’s good but it kept rolling and rolling until it rolled off the green . It was almost unbelievable! He chips up close and makes a double bogey . I ,on the other hand, hit a beautiful draw off the tee down the fairway and stopped in a divot , another unbelievable misfortune lol. I had 230 in which in most cases would be a hard 7 wood to that particular pin but that wasn’t going to happen with my ball sitting a third of the way down in that divot and in the backside of the divot .So I decided to try and punch it out to a wedge distance . I hit a PW but I skulled it , SMH . It ran right toward the OB and I was in the rough , 60 yards from the pin . I tried to get cute , with my opponent in the rough to the left of me and fluffed it and of course it was short . I hit a marginal chip to about 8 feet and two putted for a bogey . He and I had to play that particular hole straight up for the win . I wanted to par that hole so bad but a win is a win . Popular Post Byrnzee
Played Ravisloe Country Club south of Chicago today. Beautiful Donald Ross course that I've played a few times. They've recently raised their prices, so we don't play there as much as we used to. Course was in beautiful shape and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Mid 70s and sunny with a light breeze. Ended up shooting 84 (41-43), which I was pretty happy with. Had three double bogeys and a few three-putts that I wish I could have back. I was driving the ball great, but just kept making some silly mistakes on some approach shots. Always smarter to play safe than go for the hero shot. Had a new driver shaft in play today and it's definitely an upgrade over my last one. Love the feel and the forgiveness I was seeing. Also had a new 2-iron in the bag that I hit on the short par four 18th absolutely perfect. It was the type of shot that makes you want to come back the next day for more. Pretty happy with my ball striking overall and can definitely tell that my game is headed in the right direction. Had 3 birdies and it could have easily been another 3 or 4. Missing greens on par 3s killed me today. Overall, I'm happy with the progress and swing changes. Popular Post MDGolfHacker
Another league round and another unsatisfying ending. Swing is coming into form but I need to learn to not keep on trying hero shots which ultimately just add strokes to my round. I also need to NOT over-think my way around the course, lol. bens197, Michael.Sandoval33, Josh Parker and 8 others 9 1 1 Quote What's In This Lefty's Bag? Popular Post jbern
Played the back 9 at a local public course that was in really poor condition 5 years ago and has slowly been turning around. The condition was quite solid. The back 9 is a par 37 with three par 5s, two par 3s, and four par 4s. I shot a 41 with two birdies, two pars, four bogeys, and one double bogey. The first birdie was a tap in on the easiest of the three par 5s. The second birdie was making a 21’ putt on the next hole (par 3). Overall I was happy with how I played, I just didn’t score as well as I played. The stats show that I didn’t hit a single fairway. I drove the ball fairly well and most were just off the fairway with good looks on the approach. This back 9 features a couple of holes where you are better off playing from the rough because of trees overhanging the fairway or to avoid hazards on the approach shots. I only had one drive that I was truly disappointed with and that was on the first hole that led to the double bogey. bens197, TJ Hall, taylorjonasher and 9 others 12 Quote WITB (link to detailed post here): Driver: LTDx 9* (ProjectX BlueSmoke Stiff) Fairway metals: 3W TSR2 14.25* (ProjectX BlueSmoke Stiff) | 5W Gen4 0341XF (Mitsubishi Tensei Blue 75 S) Hybrid: 4H Gen4 0317XF (Mitsubishi Tensei Blue 75HY S) Irons: 659 CB 5-AW (Project X Rifle 6.0) Wedges: 286 54* & 58* (KBS Tour 120 S) Putter: AL-6 armlock | Unofficial review here | DF3 OFFICIAL MEMBER REVIEW HERE Ball: pro drip: red & blue | Tour S Pushcart: 4.0 | '23 MGS Clicgear 4.0 Pushcart Tester | Link here

I held this round together, I was very aware of my score throughout my round, and I was able to stay focused and never let it get to me. My short game, and putting was amazing. Career best 28 putts(final review for truestroke coming tonight). My pro had made a little change to my setup, and the weather had stopped my last two rounds short but I felt like they could have been as good as this one. I am absolutely pumped right now! I hear some similar comments from golfers in the clubhouse after my rounds, including me, saying "if I could have gotten the ball to the hole today on my putts" or "i hit everything past the hole too far today on my putts". I wonder why we do that on occasion, we should know the speed of the greens etc. by about the 3rd or 4th hole... any ideas @cnosil or @chisag?
