Olympics Golf About To Get Rolling!

I have yet to get really into any of the Olympics events, but am really looking forward to the Golf! What do y'all think about it? Great way to showcase great golf? bring more country spirit to a generally individual game (expanding on the great Ryder cup US Europe rivalries).

Haven't thought much about it honestly. Not that I haven't wanted to watch, just have been busy and haven't caught hardly any of the Olympics.

Really haven’t caught much of the Olympics either, the golf almost seems like another tournament to me…but I always like watching golf so I won’t be complaining!

I like that golf is part of the Olympics and that it was able to remain part of it after the slightly rough start at the Rio games. I wish they would do something a little more creative than a 72-hole stroke play tournament. 2-man teams of fourball or alternate shot match play brackets. A mixed teams alternate shot event would be amazing.

Only thing I have watched so far is Ledecky dominate the 1500 yesterday.  Will watch some of the golf and that will be about it.  

Nice to see Hideki come out swinging!!

Ledecky is unreal.  That 1500m was a complete no contest... pretty much over before lap 1 was in the books.

So glad to see some golf start.  I've been watching some sports I had no idea even existed... wow, have they ever expanded the number of events.  And with all that expansion, I'm dumbfounded that Pickle Ball is not (yet) an event.  I read the criterion for how sports must meet before being considered and totally get that.  What I don't understand is how a good number of the much lesser known sports met the requirements and Pickle Ball does not.  It's unlikely it will be added before 2032... crazy.

I agree that other formats should be looked at or tried - that is one of the great things about The Ryder Cup is that it's different than other events.

Been waking up each morning at 4 to get my day started with a coffee and some Olympic golf. Been a great combo. Saw a stat that of the 3 tied at the top there is a 80% chance one of them win. I personally can't take those odds. Too many very good golfers who can go low on what has seemed like a gettable golf course. Looking forward to moving day tomorrow or should I say in 7 hours haha

In the UK we (i.e my wife and I) have been watching the Olympics avidly for the last week (like from 8am to 10pm) it is covered by the BBC and the coverage of the golf may as well be non-existent. They are only streaming 2 channels and swimming, sailing, tennis, badminton, shooting and archery have had more coverage. 

We might get the final hole shown if Fleetwood is in contention today, really poor. And is turning it into a non-event in the UK.

I've been shocked here in the states that we have had complete coverage with the golf channel. I do think we are benefited because coverage starts at 3 am so they don't have to worry about interrupting any programming. Really hope they do the same for the women next week.

I am rooting for Fleetwood for gold and for Perez the Frenchman to medal.  tough break for Fleetwood with that lie on the par 5, I am sure he would have preferred the ball be in the sand.

WOW, what a finish! I didn't see that coming, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that Scottie claimed the gold. Fleetwood just go nervy on 17 and didn't have the mental fortitude to get it done. What a shame, but also what a strong day from Tommy.

Really happy for Tommy.  I've been a fan of his for a long time and still amazed he has not won on the PGA Tour... that stat boggles my mind. 

I honestly did not see Scottie making up that much ground, but then again, we're talking about Scottie.  Loved seeing the emotion from him during the award ceremony.  Contrary to what some might think, these athletes truly are playing the hearts out representing their respective countries.

Also happy for Hideki, so deserving and I'm so jealous of that swing.  Aside from Adam Scott, the best on tour IMHO.

Tommy made such a great run at birdie on 18 today. For a long while I thought he had done it. 

Scheffler was just brilliant and dominant. So fun to watch
