Loft and lie... Adjusted for once in my life

I am one of those guys who never really believe that getting loft and lid adjusted to myself would do much. But that said, I took them into my local golfsmith and the guy that works there spent almost two hours with me and a roll of marking tape, a board, and the monitor, and we went through each club, one by one. We set everything to proper lofts and the interesting part was that he flattened them all, from 1.25 at the PW to 2.5 at the 4 iron.

 

I haven't hit them off the real grass yet, (tomorrow) but I'm wondering if all y'all think it will make any difference....

The lie angle, aside from tilting the spin axis, can really effect the quality of strike. That's what I found most striking. Pun intended, I'm afraid.

You bet it can.  If his clubs were flattened, it means they were too upright.  So I'm wondering if he had a problem with shots going left.  If he adjusted to correct for that with his grip or swing and now flattened them, he may see shots going to the right now.

This is exactly what I'm going to do. I'm debating on whether I should use an indoor Titleist Center with Pro V1x or outdoors with high quality Taylormade range balls and a Trackman.

Yes, left. I'll try them on grass tomorrow and repost on if I notice a difference...

Well I hit a few balls today and was interested in the results. It wasn't drastic by any means, but I did notice that I didn't have much draw anymore, but pretty straight balls. And also it seemed like the club cut through the grass smoother, it that's possible? Divots were a little wider too oddly enough... It might take a round or two to get used to the difference...

Divots are wider since you now have the toe of the club making contact with the ground....if you were that far upright in a 4 iron that would only make sense.  I have my loft and lie checked pretty much monthly during the summer and have a pretty good handle on when something is not right with my irons.

The most notable difference for me from my club fitting was the lie adjustment. Like you, I now have clubs with a flatter lie and make more solid contact, more of the sole of the club engages the ground, etc. Sounds like you are seeing good results like I did.
