How'd you play?
cksurfdude and 11 others reacted to Syks7 for a topic
40/44 84. Promising day that I couldn't fully get off the ground. Lots of things went right, I just couldn't quite score. The best part of my day was putting. 31 total putts with zero 3 putts. My distance control was on today even when I was short. I think the longest second putt I had all day was 18". I also didn't miss inside 11' (11,10,8,7,4) for my one putts. Also good is that I managed no doubles day. I just had some troubles off the tee and on approach that left me with some very long putts (7 over 35'). Hopefully tomorrow goes better. On another note I had a laugh at my own expense today at my change in perspective. At the beginning of summer I would have said 84 was a good day, but today I walked off 18 thinking that I missed a lot of opportunities and played pretty average/mediocre of the tee and on approach and wasn't particularly pleased with the score. Golf's funny sometimes.12 points -

See the above responses as to why Sub70's CS is considered one of the best in the industry. So for a 1/3 of the cost of New Level you get your demo. NL definitely has a repuation for good clubs. But I don't think there is any question that Sub70 ranks among the very best CS companies in any industry. But as always, you should do what is best for you,9 points -

... Wow, I baked you in an oven, pulled you out of a tree hiding from a high index player and of course the photo where the Yoke was on you and the best you could come up with is a DICK JOKE? Your 2 yr community college faux fraternity driving range brothers would be so proud. ... Surprised you didn't recognize the mascara you left in my bag was used to replicate your face. You left it behind because you said it ran in the heat but in actuality it was the crying over no shade that made it run. As you well know, I would have taken a real picture of you if you weren't hiding in my bag. ... Granted I used a Top Flite to replicate your bluish appearance which is an upgrade from your driving range cover so I apologize. I also spoke to some of your ex Putt Putt friends (of course I know where you got your start and surprised you referenced it) and they called you the Greg Norman of Putt Putt and you have had a vendetta against them since you lost the Putt Putt Championship when you were up by 6 strokes and lost to Fick Naldo and they never saw or heard from you again. ... But I do tip my large cap to you for the sombrero roasting. I am teaching myself Spanish so this may not be perfect but: Yo necisito uno sombrero grande para combatir el color del sol. I did not even comment on Bite Me because truthfully that is beneath you but you have been hanging with so many High index players I will give you the benefit of the doubt you might be suffering from CTE, so none of this has changed my high opinion of you!8 points -

When I demo clubs with Sub 70 I will get an email in about 10 days to two weeks asking how it's going. This last time I Hadn't the time to use it other than once. I asked if I could keep it a little longer. It was with in hours if not an hour I had a response back from them saying to please keep it, get used to it and let them know when I was ready to send it back. Keeping the demo's a little longer I don't think is an issue. For me, I don't want to send it back but it's on my to do list today. I'll be hitting up Sycamore way in Oct for a fitting as well as my wife for new irons and driver for her as well. They have beer so I can get a true feeling off the club.7 points -

First off A sharpie on a blue putt putt ball! Is that the best you can do. Sheeeesh amateur hour. Secondly, I wouldn't worry about me getting laid. Have you ever looked at your profile picture? With a hat like that you couldn't even keep up with Santa and he only comes (spelling is not correct) once a year. So You know I was at the Spies Meet in Maryland outing. You know how many yellow balls were lost to the course. A special thanks to @cksurfdude for being a large contributor in that area. So you should know what I have been doing. I just got home from taking a new batch to the driving range to get them broken in for what lies ahead. Then I read this crap about not getting any and being a blue ball. Say hello to my little friends! And by the way there was a little mishap. Someone didn't come out just right. So I was thinking this could be yours. So in the slight chance you weren't wearing that ridiculous sombrero looking hat and met someone, you should show them your special ball. This way they will know not to expect much.7 points -

On the forum we stay to the US embargo dates as will the main site. Companies such as Mizuno and others have been great to the forum in the past with testing opportunities and we would rather not bypass their embargo dates just because somewhere else they are available. Of course feel free to check out the japanese site and share thoughts as well as what you may want to buy or test, but in terms of photos and such again we will wait till the US embargo date passes and then it is open season!6 points -

well, when you’re wrong your wrong. I thought I had read that the sub 70 demo program lasted just one week, which I thought was a little counterproductive, but then seeing these responses I checked again, and even on the wayback machine, and I seem to have been mistaken. I must have imagined the one week requirement, as when I double checked the program, I see no mention of a week timeframe, just “once you are done,” which is what I imagine we would all want out of a demo program. from: https://www.golfsub70.com/sub-70-golf-demo-clubs.html “4) Once you are done with the demo clubs please give us a call at 877-267-7093 or email [email protected] to return the clubs. The Sub 70 representative can address any questions that you have on the clubs and will also make sure that a pre-paid return label is emailed to you. The return label can be affixed to the original package to ensure the clubs are returned to us as expected.”5 points

What/How Did You Practice Today?
cksurfdude and 4 others reacted to edingc for a topic
One of the better range sessions all season today, I think. I've been more focused on pressure at setup and that has helped a lot. Today I was also focused on hand path and not getting the club too rolled in behind me to start the backswing. I hit some really solid feeling shots and even the driver seemed to be cooperating pretty well.5 points -

The wise traveller Philip J Fry once said, "I don't regret this, but I both rue and lament it." This thought crossed my mind as Owen and I played the front nine at River Heights today. Owen managed to hit the same tree twice on hole two, neither of us had a hole better than bogey, and he stopped keeping score by the third hole. On a positive note my play from just off the green continues to be my strength as I came very close to holing out two times. On the downside I keep shooting up on my longer clubs and I'm struggling with the Cobra irons. Might go back to the Adams and play without a seven iron for a while. Shot +18 54. Good times!4 points -

You bet! It was a different menu every single day for 4 straight weeks... Here a couple of snapshots (might be too exotic for some ) Top one is Asian style: Taiwan sausage with garlic, soy braised tofu with fish, soy braised pork, spring onion chicken, veggies, those things in leaves are sticky rice meat dumplings (kind of like a tamal) and forgot what kind of soup that was. Bottom one is more Latino: fried chicharrones with yuca and tortillas and salad... some lobster on the side...4 points -

Got in a early morning round this weekend with the group. Haven’t been playing well so I went out without any expectations. Started off playing pretty good. Hitting fairways and greens and on a few bad drives I punched out to the fairway for bogeys saves. Outside of literally cold topping my 3 wood off the tee I had a good front for a 42. Played phenomenal on the back. Unfortunately missed a 3 foot birdie putt on a side hill lie. Ended up on a 215 yard par 3 not taking enough club and dumping it into the water for a double. Finished with a birdie on 18 for a 38, playing the back 2 over. 11/14 on fairways and 10/18 on greens. Really a great round. I’d replay a hole or two different to elongate a double but outside of that I couldn’t be happier. I didn’t do anything great and really played simple golf. Lots of simple shots and good 2 putts. No 3 putts the whole round, which I love after practicing putting all week4 points -

... Graphite has surpassed steel as far as having the ability to create any kind of shaft concerning fine tuning performance. There is a reason most LPGA players have graphite in their irons and it isn't more distance. It is accuracy. And while feel is certainly subjective, I would say graphite shafts don't have a lack of feel, they have a lack of vibration. For someone that has only played steel, graphite can feel a little dead or overly dampened at first but most adjust pretty quickly. Just listen to those that have played several different graphite iron shafts and they can have strong opinions on the feel of Recoil, MMT, KBS TGi/TPi and Steelfibers. ... There used to be a pretty big difference in price but that is no longer the case and some steel shafts are more expensive than graphite. I am a huge advocate for using graphite in your irons especially older players because it is easier on your body. And the more you play the more it makes a difference. That said, steel has been around forever and still performs it's job as you recommend, you get fit into the right steel shaft.3 points

There are at least a dozen deluxe (non) golf carts that buzz around our neighborhood all the time. Owners use them to go to the pool, drop off kids or to visit friends homes. Seems extravagant to own, and make space for, but their money. Most look something like this…knobby tires, upgrade rims, lifted, cushy, bench in back.3 points

Share your Shot/Hole Of The Day!
Sluggo42 and 2 others reacted to MyWifesSwingCoach for a topic
So on Friday night, My Wife took my First Born (8yo daughter) to her first concert. They went to see Kidz Bop at Pine Knob. So we left our 2.5yo daughter with MIL and I drove them there, so I decided to take the opportunity to get out for a round. So I found a course just a few miles up the road so I had just enough time to sneak in 9 holes before having to go pick them up. Course was called Fountains Golf and Banquet, I will post more about this on How'd you play soon. My hole of the day was hole 3, its an ~320yd par 4 from Blue. I haven't been very confident in my driving for quite some time and my Superdeep TP is not the most forgiving, but the hole is pretty much wide open so I figured why not have a crack at it. It was during my practice swings that I noticed something that I was doing that I had never felt before. I was really feeling tucking my elbow into my side/trail hip on the downswing and I am not sure if its my practice with keeping my wrist straight and fully rotating thru but it felt like I was swinging it faster than normal. (Really need to get to a sim for knowing my distances etc. ... coming soon) Onto how the hole worked out, set myself down the center expecting anything but, also I moved the ball ever so slightly forward to my lead heel-ish to promote positive attack angle). Well, I nailed one maybe 5yds offline baby fade (most likely to straight wrist/face control and tucking the elbow for in to out path as that's not my normal shot at all) to the right rough maybe 5yds short. Dumbfounded and still playing two balls at that point, I think its a fluke. So I set up the same way, whooped er down the fairway straight as an arrow right next to my first ball 5yds short but just in the fairway. I s**t enough bricks to build an outhouse right then and there, because I had never drove the ball so well. To shorten up an already far too long story about a single hole lol. I drove up to my balls and just stood there to enjoy the moment. Took out my 60*, chipped the first to about 4ft, chipped the second to about 4.5ft and drained both for bird. Enjoy the moment.3 points -

We live close to the beach and most who have carts use EZG0 or Club Car, electric, of course. You only need gas if you live in the hills or live way out in the country. Some municipalities have restrictions regarding how far you can take it from your residence and some require licensing on the cart. NO ONE under 16 can driver them and must have a valid drivers license. Some courses have a user fee if you use your own cart on the courses. Have a dealer in our city who specializes in conversation carts and does a thriving business.3 points

I get it. But everything on this site is related back to MGS's HQ,, even though the forum is operated and run by members like you and me, we still don't publish anything on the forum that the main site wouldn't---in regards to embargo dates. I agree on the badge looks of each model. There is a slight difference I can tell in the Forged, but very very minimal, and most would't notice it at first glance. The cutaways show a difference in the depth of the internal cavity, which is where I would assume the majority of the perforamce variances will be. Haven't really seen any great comparisons of top line or sole, which is where you might expect the differences to be more notciable.3 points -

There is a 4 iron avaiable in the Hot Metal and HM Pro And just for good measure, for those wondering about wedges. There is a JPX 23 Series Wedge in 49, 54 and 59 available. I assuming it blends with either the HM or HMP The Forged PW is 42.5 so some might find that a bit big of a gap, but honestly for most amatuers, the difference between 5 and 6.5 degees is not going to be huge, especially swince wedges are not full swing clubs typically.3 points -
One of my side lines before I got hurt was redoing old steel EZ GO frames. I used to strip the body all the way off and re do and box in the frame. I always double undercoated the finished product. Sometimes I would do the body change thing did a couple of 57 Chevy and Rolls Royce conversions. Now I never did more than a couple a year. I have in the past bought some stock ones with frame problems and fixed and sold them for some profit. Now days it is not profitable because usually carts in that shape they have been sitting up and the batteries are shot or the gas engine is in need of rebuilding. And now days the cart business is super competive around here. I know of 2 dealers and 5 independant shops just in the tiny town of Surfside Beach. Had a guy the other day I guess he dragged a rough Club Car out of the bushes somewhere. Wanted to sell it to me for like $250 I passed and told him he would be better off scrapping it. That thing was rougher than a night in the county jail. Materials are high as crap now and really with the remodling I have going at the house now frankly I do not have time. And to be real I can not work like I used to and I would have had too much time in it.3 points

How to get rid of self-talk during the swing
Kenny B and 2 others reacted to artful_golfer for a topic
I now unfortunately (or fortunately) fully understand swing thoughts. This past weekend I needed hit my ball left of a tree about 10 feet in front of me and had plenty of space to do that. But as I was lining up I thought "hope I don't goof and hit the tree". My next thought was "oops is that a swing thought, where did that come from". Sure enough, my ball sailed barely past the right side of tree and almost out of bounds. Then my thought was "well, how about that, it's true". I'm much happier concentrating on swing feels. I think next time that happens I'll back off and start over.3 points -

Our super, by policy, wants it alternating. Each mowing rotates "straight stripes", "diagonal stripes", and "no stripes (classic)". He's stated that it's best for the turf health, as it gets mowed in various directions instead of constantly the same. We have rye/poa fairways, so not sure if it would be different for other types of grasses. I think we mow the fairways around 3 times a week.3 points -
