Since 1 irons were 14-16 degrees of loft does that mean you or want a driving /utility iron? Or do you want an old school 1 iron?  😁

It was sorta tongue-n-cheek, but I'm thinking I would like to have a Macgregor 1-iron to put in the bag. I am considering an all Macgregor bag.  I can almost do it now.

I have Macgregor MACTEC NVG2 driver, FW, and hybrids, and I'm now playing my Macgregor VIP Tourney V-Foil 1025M irons 3-LW, except I replace the 56 and 60 with my Callaway 54 and 60.  I do need a Macgregor putter, but @BIG STU mentioned the Macgregor Bobby Grace V-Foil Mark 5 the other day and I know someone who has one.  I can even put them into my Macgregor Staff bag!!

Expect any different from me? I have 3 Mac 1 irons---- A 54 winged MT that trust me it is a stiff shafted bear to hit even before my accident. I also have 2 985 Customs one which I carried back in the day until I replaced it with a Ping K-1---- LOL yesterday I played a 9 hole round with my CF- 4000s and persimmon woods. Played from my normal Gold Senior tees instead of the Super Senior tees. I did it for a reason. Our course is baked out and dry despite the afternoon thunder storms. I had a ball hitting some low screamers with the 2 and 3 irons. I only played 9 due to the fact this was the first outing with those heavy stiff Pro Pel shafts since my accident and I did not want to push the issue back wise.

Actually practice wise I had all 3 of my V-Foils out on the practice green but used a TP Mills Spalding 8802 look alike in the vintage round. Felt the V- Foil was too modern

Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- - 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R---- Irons 5 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex steel shafts--- SW -- Cleveland 588 56* S-400 Sensicore --- LW Vokey 58* SM5 L grind--- Putter 1997 Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Fluted Bulls Eye shaft--- Bag TM Flex Lite Stand---- Yeah I know only 11 clubs

You are just more Old School than I am.  I started playing in the early 1990's and only started to hit reasonable shots when the V-Foils came out.  Sad to see Macgregor go.

The new Ping chipper.  Seriously.

Short game is a strong part of my game, but the weak part of my game is playing low running chip shots.  I would love to experiment with this in the bag.  Would likely have to change my wedge setup to 52/58, but it could be worth it.

I have a spot in the bag right now and I have totally thought about a chipper. They seem so easy to hit, I know Cleveland has an option as well. I do have to say I would not have guessed PING would come out with one.

... The new Ping Chipper looks interesting. I would hope you could get it in a package deal with a ball retriever and iron head covers. 🤪  Juuuuust kidding of course because I do think the Ping Chipper is interesting and I would love to play a round using one. Never had a use back in the Midwest but most shots in the desert are tight, grainy bermuda and calls for bump and runs, not pitches or lob shots so it is a shot I am still working on to match the rest of my short game.

... One of the issues I have with chippers advertising, especially in videos, is they show someone using their wedge/iron attempting to execute a long wristy chip without moving down the grip and hitting it fat and thin. Then with the chipper in their hands they stand closer to the ball and use a putter like stroke with much better results. I have yet to see one Ad where the player using the wedge/iron uses that same putter like stroke with their wedge/iron. Of course this has nothing to do with performance of a chipper or whether or not the shorter shaft and squarer head gives the player more confidence. One of my high index pards falls into that category and had no confidence using a wedge/iron but hits his chipper with a completely different stroke and most importantly, more confidence.

Watched this review on the Ping Chipr. The tester (the person testing after Sophie) they used is not the best at chipping, so its realistic.

Thinking about the top of my bag for next season already. Currently have the Super Hybrid at 16 degrees and the Epic Flash 4 hybrid at 20 degrees.

The Epic Flash is essentially a 6/7 wood, and I can expect reasonably struck shots to carry about 225-235 from the tee and maybe from the deck if I really catch one. I don't use the Super Hybrid much - I hit one tee shot with it every round at my home course and I've used it sparingly otherwise. This winter I was able to get 250+ carry out of it off the deck at times on the Mevo+, but realistically on course it's probably a 230-240 club.

Those two clubs and my Cobra 4 Utility are now the only non-fitted clubs in my bag, so I'm thinking a top of bag fitting might be in order next spring. Not sure if I'd want to go to back to a wood or not, it's just so rarely used that I don't think I'd justify the money.

Really tough to justify too much more money when the course I play most often just isn't long enough. It was a lot of fun getting out last week on vacation to a 6,800-ish yard course where a lot of different clubs got a workout. I'm no more accurate with the Super Hybrid than driver, so I never give up the distance except where I'm absolutely forced to.

Sort of a good problem to have (those are solid distances). Wish i had that problem.

I'm no more accurate with the Super Hybrid than driver, so I never give up the distance except where I'm absolutely forced to.

do it! i finally did a fitting for a 4 wood and love my decision. The Super for me was just a bandaid

Early feedback:  Even if you just want a GPS it is a nice  product.   If you want shot tracking and are willing to put in the effort it is a great product.

I was going to wait as well... Then I saw a small discount and the self control was gone.

How's the current driver setup working out compared to the autoflex?

I think overall it's a much more consistent result with the Motore X than the AutoFlex. I had a nice honeymoon period with the AF, but mishits seemed to be more penalized than with the Motore.

I haven't been hitting my driver all that well this season, but ShotScope has my P-AVG at 278 yards (all Motore) and Arccos had my smart distance at 284 yards (mostly AF). A wet spring did not help overall distance and I also have done zero speed training work since the fall. I have managed a few 300-plus ones with a little wind or elevation help, but overall I still wish I was a more consistent driver of the golf ball.
