SWMBO talked to our Gdaughter @ Villanova this morning, she’s fine.  School shut down yesterday and Kids were kept in their Dorms.

some areas around the school weren’t so lucky, some flooding and damage.

After a week of hot summer weather of around 33 Celsius (91 F), but feeling like 39C (102F) with Humidex we have turned the corner into late summer/fall weather it seems.  Highs are around 23C (74F) so actually really nice to play golf in.  Sun is still shining nice.  The long weekend looks good for my golf game on Saturday and holiday Monday, so looking forward to getting out in some nice weather.

I'm sure we still have a week or two of weather jumping back up but I'll take the break in the weather for now.

Really looking forward to playing golf late Sept, early October.  Really like playing with the leaves changing colour as the backdrop to a drive!

  • 1 month later...

Well, after 9 months of almost no rain, we are finally getting some.  We sure need it!!  Started Friday night, but quit before our round on Saturday morning.  Rained last night, and I think the heavy stuff is going to come down about the time we are/were to tee off.  Getting caught in the rain on the course is one thing, but I'm not one to head out to play in the rain.  If it lets up a little, maybe a quick nine later.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Well here we go 75 degrees and sunny - I’m having lunch and getting ready to walk 18 for the first time since mid-May.

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

After a few weeks of Florida's hot humid weather, the latest front brought in mild mid 70's weather with low humidity. I can live in this type of weather year round.

Florida is fine for 8 months, the other 4 months not so much.  After 65 years in Northeast the 4 months don’t look so bad.  I’m staying here!

First big windstorm this fall last night.  Wind started about 6pm and blew until 4am... 25-35 with gusts to 50.  Fortunately, it wasn't during the day so no golf ruined.  Mid 50's during the day; mid-30's at night this next week.  Not bad for this time of year.

We’re getting it all right!  No downpours but steady rain, windy and for us kinda cool, well anything under 60* the area goes into cold warnings.
No golf this weekend and we could have problems with water on the courses next week.

Yep it has been down to like 45* at night the last 2 nights which is cold for this area this time of year--- We have not had any real rain for a month or so. I think my home course will be ok wet wise by Monday with the usual low spots still wet. We have a couples 9& Dine scheduled Wednesday afternoon. I have gotten to the point health wise now I can do 9 if it is CPO. In the past we have had to cancel the 9 & Die if it was CPO. But like you sadly no golf here this weekend. I am not still able to ride more than 20 miles at the time in a car. If I had been able to do that I may have slipped up to Charlotte yesterday and played there

I’ve seen a few course closures posted already.  All of them will be sloppy.  I’m looking at a “pond” in front of the 8th green across the street from us.  It’s 54* degrees right now and that’s considered Ice Age here.

We arrived back in Ohio yesterday. I was still wearing the shorts that I left Florida in  brrrrrrrrrrrrrr. This morning I took our dog out in 33* temps (not in shorts) - hope our grandson appreciates us driving up for his birthday!

It'll warm up into the low 50's today and next week - golf is definitely on the agenda.

We've hit the low 30's mornings with frost...might be able to squeeze one more round this season...last year I was playing on November 11 so anything is possible.

Unfortunately, I have three mature maples and one linden all are at least 60' tall and nooooooone of them have dropped leaves.

I am really hoping the drop before the snowfall begins.
